Hutt Central School Newsletter No 7 Term 1 13th March - 17th March 2017 Kia ora tatau, It’s feeling a little more like winter as we move into week 7 of the term. It’s great to see students here on time ready to start the day. Just a reminder that milk is available in the mornings outside Room 8. I really enjoyed working with the students in Room 10 this week, they enthusiastically shared what they had learnt about the earth and it’s layers. Sandpit As you can see we are progressing. It’s great to see the outer seating taking shape. A big thanks to those that are helping, rain hail or shine with this. Reminders: All children must wear a sunhat when they are outside for Term 1 and 4. Please check that your child has a hat at school everyday. New Students Welcome to Tyla Manihera, Erin Worsley, Ruby Penny and Tia Wongpanich who have started at Hutt Central School in the last fortnight. It is great to have you at our school. Gates Please ensure that our school gates close when you enter the grounds. Let us know if there are any problems with the latches so that we can fix them when required. School Donations Thank you to all the families that have generously paid their voluntary donations already. The donations go towards providing resources that we deem essential for our students’ learning. Remember to keep your receipts and you are able to claim back the cost from your tax. We appreciate your support and contribution to the school. It has been exciting to see so many children walking and wheeling to school for Movin March, and huge thanks to parents for using the Walking Pou on Te Mome Road as a safe drop off spot. Thanks also to the senior students who are arriving at school a little earlier to help on the stands. They are getting plenty of business!

Wheels Fun at lunchtime begins this Friday 17th March. All wheels welcome, but all riders MUST wear a helmet. No helmet, no ride (skateboards, blades and scooters included).

(Alicetown Walking School Bus)

On Friday 31st March we will be celebrating active travel with a Fancy Feet Day, where children can come to school with decorated shoes. We are suggesting that on this day children walk with their parents/whanau using a slightly different route to get to school. We would love parents to join us on the walk to school, and watch our Fancy Feet Parade. Road Patrol We would love to know if there are any parents out there that would be able to support our Road Patrollers at the crossings in the afternoon. Maybe one day of the week at one of our crossings would be manageable for you. Please contact the office if you are able to help.
