English SnapshotAs the term begins we say good luck to our Year 12 stu-dents who are embarking on final assessment tasks and ex-aminations as the culmination of their Secondary Schooling. As a Faculty we wish them well in further endeavors and chal-lenges. The rest of the students in the faculty are drawing the final curtain on their Shake-speare studies and are eagerly awaiting the Bell Shakespeare Company’s visit.
Final assessment tasks in all year levels are due in week seven of this term and most students are embarking on the completion of Evidence Folio’s.
Lastly, a gentle reminder to all Parents and Student’s, could you please search all nooks and crannies at home and return any school novel text’s you find, the cost of replacing the many that go missing each year prohibits our purchasing of new texts, so PLEASE look hard!

Year 12 Trial ExamsOctober 10 - 17
Congratulations to our Stage 2 students who sat their Trial Exams at the Katherine Train-ing Centre. These exams gave our students the opportunity to experience rigid SACE Board examination conditions and enabled them to identify any gaps in their learning they will need to focus on and study, prior to the final exams.
Their final exams commence state wide on the 24th Octo-ber and run until the 16th No-vember.
Our students will have the op-portunity to study during SWOT-VAC, from Tuesday 25th to Fri-day 28th October.
It is very important that all Stage 2 students arrive fully prepared to their final exams at least 10 minutes prior to them commencing, i.e. fully rested, examination attendance slip ready (these slips must be pre-sented at each examination), pens, approved calculators, etc. It is also recommended that mobile phones be left at home so students have no out-side distractions before going into these exams.
To all our Stage 2 students, happy studying and good luck in your finals

Solar CarOctober 10The World Solar Challenge Out-reach Program visited Kather-ine High School in advance of their main Challenge. It was a quite informative, enjoyable and engaging event for our students. They got an opportunity to get up close to these great solar cars that are breaking new grounds as an alternative and greener mode of transport. Dr Zoz Brooks of Discovery Chan-nel was also present during this event. The solar challenge team had teamed up with RiAus and they spent almost four hours with our students during their tight schedule inspiring teach-ers and students to make fur-ther headway in the direction of embracing greener modes of transport. Rugby LeagueSeptember 29Katherine High School’s Rugby League class played its second game of the year against St Jo-seph’s at the Katherine Sport & Recreation Field. The prepara-tion for this game continued from the hard work which these young men have displayed through their dedication to the game of Rugby League. From kick off the intensity dis-played by KHS was far greater then St Joseph’s, the score in the first half was 28 points to zero. The second half started in a similar way to the first half with the defense from KHS de-veloping another dominating platform to attack St Josephs’ try line. Our next game is on the 25th of October 2011, week three of term four played in Palmerston against Rosebery Middle School.Rod CremonaPE Teacher
