A warm welcome to

Mwldan’s new programme!

We hope you find plenty of reasons to visit usover the next few weeks and brighten up yourwinter with a fantastic selection of liveperformance, cinema and exhibitions.

Our annual Film Festival runs from 13 – 27January and it’s packed with great films fromnear and far – the farming communities ofCeredigion and the wild landscape of Patagonia.We also present our first live broadcast balletfrom The Royal Ballet, and a live interview withthe legendary David Byrne of Talking Heads.

We’re producing a six-date tour of Wales inFebruary for the excellent Chronicles Of LongKesh – the inside story of the notorious prisonand ‘The Troubles’. It’s a fantastic piece ofdrama, full of humour, motown music andimpact in equal measure, and visits Mwldan on 18 February.

We look forward to welcoming you to Mwldan soon.

Bydd ein Gwyl Ffilmiau Blynyddol yn rhedeg o 13- 27 Ionawr ac mae’n llawn ffilmiau grêt o Gymruac o ben draw’r byd - cymunedau ffermioCeredigion a thirwedd wyllt Patagonia. Yn ogystal,byddwn yn cyflwyno ein darllediad byw cyntaf ofale gan Y Bale Brenhinol, a chyfweliad bywgyda’r enwog David Byrne o Talking Heads.

Rydym wrthi’n cynhyrchu taith chwe dyddiad oamgylch Gymru ym mis Chwefror ar gyfer yrardderchog Chronicles of Long Kesh - stori fewnol ycarchar drwg-enwog a’r ‘Helyntion’. Mae’n ddramawych, yn llawn hiwmor, cerddoriaeth Motown aceffaith gref, a bydd yn ymweld â’r Mwldan ar 18Chwefror.

Puccini’s wild-west opera had its world premiere in 1910 at the Met. Now, on the occasion of its centennial,all-American diva Deborah Voigt sings the title role ofthe “girl of the golden west,” starring opposite MarcelloGiordani. Nicola Luisotti conducts.

He was taught by Vegard Lundand from 2006 had weekly lessons with Prof. Sven Lundestad atthe Norwegian Academy of Music. Currently in his second yearat the Royal College of Music studying with Gary Ryan andJakob Lindberg, he has given recitals all over Norway as wellthe UK, Austria and Italy including a performance of Rodrigo’sConcierto Aranjuez in Cardiff’s Millenium Centre and a solorecital in Wigmore Hall.His brother Emil Duncumb has been awarded two first prizesin the Norwegian National Youth Competition and won theSparre Olsen Competition in 2008, where he also received thehonorary prize.

These animals take us through a multitude ofFables involving wily wolves, dopey dogs, haring hares,flattering foxes and even silly humans. As relevant now as they were centuries ago, these bite-sizedtales are knockabout and slapstick, but remain true to thespirit of Aesop. virtually unknown composers next to familiar masterpieces of

Avi Allen’s work is concerned with an ongoing engagement withthe language of drawing and its place within contemporaryartistic practice. Drawing becomes a site in which to exploreand celebrate notions of mutuality and conversation. Her aim isto explore drawing as a process in which to investigate, revealand disrupt narratives of force and domination.

Clare Maynard’s work is experiential, and herpaintings and photographs are closely informed bytravel. The environs which she has recorded inpaintings over the years range from East Africa toparts of Europe such as Berlin and the CzechRepublic, landscapes which are often remote orunusual in some aspect of their history. The artistalways returns home to Wales and builds upon herexhibitions to include the landscape of mid-Wales,with which she is so familiar.

‘Memory of Light/Atgof o Oleuni’ includes the useof photography. The exhibition will tour from OrielMwldan to other arts centres in Wales and finally toshow in the exhibition area of a governmentbuilding in central Berlin.

When Jamie meets Maggie(Anne Hathaway), a sassy artist with early-onset Parkinson’s disease, the two start ano-strings-attached relationship. But as Jamie finds himself becoming unexpectedlyattached and Maggie’s condition worsens, the relationship becomes more complex,testing each character’s emotional mettle. As Jamie gets his drug salesman training,the film takes some well-aimed jabs at Pfizer and the rest of the Big Pharma industrythat mushroomed in the story’s late-nineties time frame. The chemistry betweenGyllenhaal and Hathaway carries the film through its tonal shifts.

Alejandro is a reluctant chaperone initially, but he begins toappreciate the old woman and her motives, eventually enjoying the journey,particularly after he meets Welsh student Sissy. George decides that a trip to Pakistan will sort Sajid out, and in notime at all, father and son are on their way back to the first Mrs Khan, the family andfarm. Unsurprisingly, the reception is a little frosty: neither George nor Sajidacclimatise particularly well, and things get even more complicated when Ella arriveson the scene to reclaim her husband and son. In the end lessons are learnt andharmony restored, albeit not quite in the way George had envisaged...

An absorbing, thought-provoking insight into the consequences of humancatastrophe, the film traces the 30-year fallout of her decision. Very well made (FengXiaogang is seen as China’s Steven Spielberg), this is an unadulterated glimpse of thetastes and values of Chinese society, unlike many of the Chinese films we see thatare made with one eye on the Western market.

A warm welcome to

Mwldan’s new programme!

We hope you find plenty of reasons to visit usover the next few weeks and brighten up yourwinter with a fantastic selection of liveperformance, cinema and exhibitions.

Our annual Film Festival runs from 13 – 27January and it’s packed with great films fromnear and far – the farming communities ofCeredigion and the wild landscape of Patagonia.We also present our first live broadcast balletfrom The Royal Ballet, and a live interview withthe legendary David Byrne of Talking Heads.

We’re producing a six-date tour of Wales inFebruary for the excellent Chronicles Of LongKesh – the inside story of the notorious prisonand ‘The Troubles’. It’s a fantastic piece ofdrama, full of humour, motown music andimpact in equal measure, and visits Mwldan on 18 February.

We look forward to welcoming you to Mwldan soon.

Mwldan’s new programme!

We hope you find plenty of reasons to visit usover the next few weeks and brighten up yourwinter with a fantastic selection of liveperformance, cinema and exhibitions.

Our annual Film Festival runs from 13 – 27January and it’s packed with great films fromnear and far – the farming communities ofCeredigion and the wild landscape of Patagonia.We also present our first live broadcast balletfrom The Royal Ballet, and a live interview withthe legendary David Byrne of Talking Heads.

We’re producing a six-date tour of Wales inFebruary for the excellent Chronicles Of LongKesh – the inside story of the notorious prisonand ‘The Troubles’. It’s a fantastic piece ofdrama, full of humour, motown music andimpact in equal measure, and visits Mwldan on 18 February.

We look forward to welcoming you to Mwldan soon.

Theatr Mwldan is situated in the centre of Cardigan - turn left at the north endof the High Street/Pendre. There is ample parking behind the theatre for carsand coaches. Parking is free after 6pm.Mae Theatr Mwldan wedi ei lleoli yng nghanol Aberteifi - trowch i’r chwith arben gogleddol y Stryd Fawr/Pendre. Mae ‘na ddigon o le i barcio tu ôl i’r theatrar gyfer ceir a bysiau. Mae parcio’n rhad ac am ddim wedi 6yh.
