We want the performance to be somebody walking down a street, showing that they are singing but nobody acknowledges them. Also we want it to be narrative as we realised that narrative videos get the audience to relate to the person in the video whether they are happy, sad, in love etc. Everybody can relate to it making the video and the music interesting to a wider audience. We would like the narrative to be a love story about romance and heart break. You are able to see the woman or male getting heartbroken which will also relate to the audience as many people feel hurt due to relationships so this again will get a wider audience to watch the video. Genre The genre of the music is pop as it will be a love song as pop music is usually about love songs. It will be oriented around love and sadness as we are using heartbreak in the video itself. Setting The setting will have low key lighting as dim lights are secretive like love or being alone. We will be having are characters in normal everyday clothing so they will look like normal people rather than being covered in glitzy clothes and accessories. As we will be also shooting outside we will have natural lighting from the sun and also scenery scenes. Iconography As our video follows the pop genre we decided to follow the genre or pop. This therefore enabled us to choose a song based around love and hate. To represent the hate in our video we thought it would be a good idea to use fire. We thought that fire could be used to burn a photograph, perhaps to symbolise that the female in the video is annoyed at the fact their relationship is over. We have decided to represent love by the female character showing remorse because the relationship has come to an end. This would represent that the female character did love the male but does not want to hurt anymore. We will use continuity editing to tell the story of the love of the relationship digressing into hate. This will follow the female character throughout her experience of getting over her relationship, as she can no longer put up with the males fooling around. We will use digital effects such as lighting to portray that there is always light at the end of the tunnel and that the female character now sees this. We will also use a fade shot at the end of our video to show a burning photograph which will fade to show all feelings from the relationship have all been lost. Characters In our music video it will be orientated around the main character of a female. The character will be a stereotypical view of a female as she is shown to be innocent and vulnerable. This will be shown

Music Video Ideas Generation

Type of video

The video type is both performance and narrative. We want the performance to be somebody

walking down a street, showing that they are singing but nobody acknowledges them. Also we want

it to be narrative as we realised that narrative videos get the audience to relate to the person in the

video whether they are happy, sad, in love etc. Everybody can relate to it making the video and the

music interesting to a wider audience. We would like the narrative to be a love story about romance

and heart break. You are able to see the woman or male getting heartbroken which will also relate

to the audience as many people feel hurt due to relationships so this again will get a wider audience

to watch the video.

Genre

The genre of the music is pop as it will be a love song as pop music is usually about love songs. It will

be oriented around love and sadness as we are using heartbreak in the video itself.

Setting

The setting will have low key lighting as dim lights are secretive like love or being alone. We will be

having are characters in normal everyday clothing so they will look like normal people rather than

being covered in glitzy clothes and accessories. As we will be also shooting outside we will have

natural lighting from the sun and also scenery scenes.

Iconography

As our video follows the pop genre we decided to follow the genre or pop. This therefore enabled us

to choose a song based around love and hate. To represent the hate in our video we thought it

would be a good idea to use fire. We thought that fire could be used to burn a photograph, perhaps

to symbolise that the female in the video is annoyed at the fact their relationship is over. We have

decided to represent love by the female character showing remorse because the relationship has

come to an end. This would represent that the female character did love the male but does not want

to hurt anymore.

We will use continuity editing to tell the story of the love of the relationship digressing into hate.

This will follow the female character throughout her experience of getting over her relationship, as

she can no longer put up with the males fooling around. We will use digital effects such as lighting to

portray that there is always light at the end of the tunnel and that the female character now sees

this. We will also use a fade shot at the end of our video to show a burning photograph which will

fade to show all feelings from the relationship have all been lost.

Characters

In our music video it will be orientated around the main character of a female. The character will be

a stereotypical view of a female as she is shown to be innocent and vulnerable. This will be shown

through the fact that the song is about love. The fact that she is shown to be vulnerable will be

shown through the use of a young character that has had her heart broken. The main character in

our video will also be shown to be weak as throughout the video her facial expressions will be down

beat. Also this may be shown through the clothing that is wearing which may be very covering and

showing not much flesh which may show she is withdrawn. This however non-stereotypical views as

young women are usually shown to wear provocative clothing.

In our video, although we may not use a male character, we may use images of the male that the

main character is singing about. The male will be portrayed to be the main female characters love

interest. Through these pictures portray a stereotypical view of a male a he has caused the character

pain and heartbreak. This is a stereotypical view a males are usually seen to be heartbreakers.

Camerawork/cinematography (technical codes):

In our music video we are going to use a range of different camera shots and movements to provoke

meaning. An establishing panning shot will be used to establish the location of the video, and to put

the song and video into context. There will be a zoom shot into the characters face to emphasise her

facial expression. Close up shots will be used to show the characters facial expressions, e.g.: upset or

happy, and also to highlight the importance of the character or props e.g.; the photograph. To show

the costume and the setting which the character is in, we will use long shots and medium shots.

These shots are also generic shots from a music video to add continuity and make it flow. A hand

held camera will add realism to the video, and this can be filmed as a point of view shot, allowing the

audience to see through the characters perspective. As the character is walking or moving around,

tracking shots will be used to follow her and also follow the narrative.
