Multi Deck Car Park, Race Day Stalls &

Dismount Yard.

Background

The ATC are now in a position to discuss updated plans for the new multi deck car park, race day

stalls improvements, temporary race day stalls and the new dismount procedure.

After further research and design we have addressed the concerns raised in relation to noise and

airflow. In fact we believe the new arrangements will be an improvement and increase comfort

levels for both the horse and participants.

We’ve taken on board comments that the existing race day stalls are not big enough. It is important

to note that the footprint of the existing race day stalls has not changed as we are simply building on

top of the existing structure.

Whilst we believe we will soon have a solution to this issue, we will continue to work with trainers to

investigate possible options to address the concerns raised.

Dismount Yard

In order to maintain the Race Day Stall operations at Randwick Racecourse throughout the construction of

the Multi Deck Car Park, there are two necessary elements that need to be constructed to facilitate the

major construction works, being a ‘temporary’ race day stalls facility (to be located immediately adjacent to

the current SWAB building on the Leger lawn as shown on the attached plans) and a dismount yard

trackside to manage horse movements post-race.

The new centrally located dismount yard trackside will assist with providing on course spectators increased

‘horse viewing opportunities’ post-race, and due to the location and operational movement flows of this

newly created area, eliminates any human/horse crossover from returning horses through the tunnel and

will directly connect the jockeys with the owners and trainers out the front of the grandstand after the race.

As a result of the benefits, this dismount yard is proposed to be retained permanently and we believe it will

greatly improve the experience for industry and patrons at Randwick Racecourse.
