Are You Getting The Latest Word From Pastor Chuck?

The Pastor’s Blog, Mountain Musings: Thoughts on Faith & Life from Chuck Wilson, is available by email. If you’d like to keep up on what the pastor is thinking and are not currently receiving Mountain Musings, please send an email with your request to: [email protected].

If you’d like to comment on one of the Musings emails, you can send an email to: [email protected].

Join us on Sunday, February 7 when our Jammin’ Lambs will be singing in all three services. These kiddos (Pre-School to First Grade) have been working on the Fruit of the Spirit song and will share it with us. The Jammin’ Lambs group is led by Sandy Breitmei-er, Sally Jamieson, Sally Bright, and Betty Brown.

Each Sunday, we are blessed down in the Children’s Ministry area to hear these kids learning how music is an act of worship for God. We are blessed weekly and you will be blessed on February 7.

Just these lines, my friends... … to say that we have launched our Year of Gratitude here at Long’s Chapel. I do hope you have joined the dozens of Chapelers who have embraced the spiritual discipline of writing a note of grati-tude each day during 2016. It is not too late to get started. Start right where you are and join the chal-lenge. Just pick up your packet of notes on Sunday in the Welcome Center or through the week in the office and get started.

I think we’ve overlooked gratitude and its importance as a spiritual practice in church life. Theologian Christine Pohl says, “… gratitude is vital to sustaining communities that are holy and good.” A part of the Year of Gratitude is a response to our societal epidemic of complaint, envy, presumption and dis-satisfaction that undermines human relationships and plagues just about every sector of our society. We believe gratitude gives life to our transforming fellowship, while ingratitude sucks out everything good, until life itself shrivels, and discouragement and discontent take over.

In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthian church, we can see how a cycle of grace, gratitude and gift strengthens community and brings glory and thanks to God. Their experience of God’s grace led the Corinthians to respond with gratitude, expressed by giving financial gifts to the church at Jerusalem. That, in turn, led to the Jerusalem church’s response of gratitude to God for the Christians in Corinth, and the cycle of gratitude and grace strengthened them in their ties to God and to one another (2 Corinthians 8-9).

Gratitude will strengthen Long’s Chapel as well. I hope you will invest deeply into our 2016 Adventure in Gratitude.

Can you believe Lent is just around the corner? It all begins on February 10 with Ash Wednesday. This year our preacher will be Rev. Michael Holder. Rev. Holder is a child of Long’s Chapel. It will be great to have him with us on this holy day.

Shine your light, Long’s Chapel.

Gripped by Gratitude, Dr. Charles (Chuck) W. Wilson II [email protected]

Introduction to Lent 2016: Sermon Series “Questions that Haunt Us”

begins February 14 This time of year, the same old questions keep popping up in religious circles and church life. For years they’ve been coming around during this holy sea-son. They are questions that haunt us. They are questions that have to do with Jesus. Our minds turn to him during the Lenten season. The questions always begin with the word why. Why Jesus?

This year let’s look for some fresh answers to these age-old questions that haunt us deeply.

Ash Wednesday and Lent 2016 Lent is a forty-day period before Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on the day before Easter Day. We skip Sundays when we count the forty days, because Sundays com-memorate the Resurrection. In most churches, the decorations are purple or blue, royal colors to prepare for the King.

Lent is a disciplined period of 40 days, a commitment to silence each day, a regimen of prayer and study, a time of finally getting out and serving somebody else, doing without something we really like and will really miss. And hopefully on Ash Wednesday we can begin in wor-ship; we come for a pensive service; we don't expect it to be fun and festive. We tell God we are sorry our lives are out of sync with God's will, we pledge to explore hard matters for the next six weeks, and a minister presses dark ashes onto our faces.

We will leave the Ash Wednesday service with that dark grey mark on the forehead: the sign of the cross. We return to work, or school, or a restaurant or perhaps the grocery store. People notice; some wonder, others understand. There is a strange, lovely hopefulness in these ashes. After Cain killed his brother Abel, he was "marked" (Genesis 4:15) - both to exhibit his guilt, but also so he would be protected. A mark of guilt, and hope.

Special Speaker for Ash Wednesday Service February 10 ~ 6:30 pm

in the Sanctuary

Easter is early this year (March 27), so that means Ash Wednes-day is early (February 10). This service is always a rich, meaning-ful experience of worship for all. The spirit of the service is somber and pensive. We come ready to confess our sins and receive the imposition of the cross on our foreheads.

This year, our preacher will be Rev. Michael Holder, who is a child of Long’s Chapel. He is currently the pastor of First United Methodist Church in Brevard. We are delighted he will be leading us into the Season of Lent.

Valentine’s Day “Did You Know?” (Information from Ask.com)

The Greeting Card Association calculates that 145 million Valentine's Day cards are sent out every year in the United

States. This figure does not include classroom valentines.

Each year in the United States, about 110 million roses are sold on February 14, and international rose growers grow about

200 million flowers in preparation for the event. Valentine's Day is a major commercial holiday, and it is one of the biggest days of

the year for the floral industry.

The exact number of people who get engaged on Valentine's Day varies from year to year. Six million people planned to pro-

pose or expected a proposal on Valentine's Day 2013, according to a consumer survey from American Express. This was a significant

increase from the number of planned or anticipated proposals in 2012, which was estimated to be 4 million.

The history of Valentine's Day is largely unknown and associated with legendary figures, although histor ians believe that it has

to do with Christianizing a pagan Roman festival held during the same time in February. This festival, called Lupercalia, began as a fer-

tility rite, and gradually changed to become associated with love.

There is little evidence to support the idea that the Hallmark greeting card company is solely responsible for creating the mod-

ern Valentine's Day celebration, though the company did begin mass-producing cards for this holiday in 1913. Factory-produced

cards were a response to the growing public interest in spending money on this holiday, as the trend of handmade greetings gave way to

manufactured cards.

Chocolate products make up about 75 percent of Valentine's Day candy sales, making this by far the most popular candy for

the holiday. This dark, sweet confection has been associated with love and romance for thousands of years, starting with the Aztecs in

the 15th century.

The colorful candy hearts known as conversation hearts are marketed under the brand name of Sweethearts, which were first

introduced in 1902 with sayings such as "Be Mine," "True Love," "Kiss Me" and "Be Good." These hear ts were preceded by

round wafer candies with wedding slogans imprinted on them.

Candy conversation hearts that are made by the candy manufacturer NECCO underwent a major flavor revision in the early

21st century, converting from more old-fashioned fruit and spice flavors to fruit flavors such as strawberry, lemon and blue

raspberry. The original candies had flavors such as mint, banana and grape.

and Peace, Stuart

♡Dear Long’s Chapel,

Hello! I hope and pray that everyone is okay. I just wanted to write and let all of you know that I truly appreciate the cards and prayers… If possible, I would love a pen pal/prayer partner. It really gets lonely in here, and my family has forgotten me… Love Always, Scottie (Isley)

♡Teressa and members of Long’s Chapel UMC. Thank you so much for your card and for your prayers. The Lord is doing some good things

in my life. I thank Him and praise Him daily… Your thoughts and your prayers mean so much to me, and I ask that you continue to keep me in your prayers as I continue to go through some struggles. I will keep you in my prayers as well. Your Brother in Christ, Herbert Keowell

♡Dear Blessed of Long’s Chapel,

I pray this letter finds you at peace. I am grateful for all the wonderful and encouraging cards you’ve sent me throughout the years, and you are always included in my prayers. As for me, I am well. I used to say “under the circumstances”, but I don’t anymore because I realize that things could be much worse than it is, but I’m healthy and with God’s Spirit, so I’m ok! Sincerely, James E. Bridges

♡Second semester of seminary has begun. I got all “A’s”. Thank you God…..Lots of reading, a number of assignments and an oral on Bon-

hoeffer. I need to be careful and keep my eyes on God. I’m not sure I have personally thanked you (The Prison Ministry Committee) for the donation for our supplies. You have 2 very grateful brothers. I’ll tell you that may well be worth a crown! Or at least a “well done, my good and faithful ones…” In Agape Love, Bruce Glover (Bruce Glover and another inmate at Hardee Correctional were chosen to enroll in an extension program in preparation for Christian ministry given by New Orleans Baptist Seminary. Your Prison Ministry Committee funded classroom supplies for Bruce and the other students.)

Female Inmates Express Thanks for Yoga Classes:

♡This class means relaxation and a personal time with God. To pray quietly and it gives me peace and exercise. Kristy B

♡My name is Racheal. Out of all the ladies that come I enjoy the yoga class the most. I feel the ladies are sincere about being here and they

make learning about Jesus easy, understandable and fun. I love the yoga class.

♡This experience has been such a help to me as far as teaching us about God. It has also taught me relaxing and breathing techniques, and is a

wonderful way to stretch. This class helps me with stress and stiffness that I personally have to deal with on a daily basis. Thank you ladies for coming each week. We would love to have class more than once a week if it was allowed. Billy

♡My name is Jessica and the Yoga class is absolutely amazing. The ladies that do the class truly care about us and want to be here to spend

time with us and tell us about God. The time we have for me helps me to relax and to release all that has been building up. Stress, drama, etc. I believe it has helped a lot of people not to have emotional breakdowns or to be fighting. I love and enjoy the yoga class. I also love the fact since we are not or do not have any kind of exercise I am thankful to have this time to be quiet and still. Thank you for allowing us to have this class and thank you ladies that come and do the class.

The Yoga class is led by certified instructor Kim Mullholland and her assistant, Sharon Gaddy. Both of these wonderful women are from Long’s Chapel UMC and we are thankful for their ministry.

Prepare Easter

Cards

for Inmates

On March 2 at 4 pm in the Fellowship Hall, we will be preparing over 200 cards (signing and addressing) for inmates in the county jail and several state penitentiaries so your help will be very much appreciated. All supplies are provided – just come - and bring a friend. There is a good chance that this Easter card will be the only correspondence many of them receive for a long time. It is a great time of fellowship and a wonderful opportunity to re-mind a lot of people just how much God loves them.

Everyone is invited… to attend the Prison/Jail Min-istry Meetings on the first Wednesday of every other month. Our next meeting will be February 3 at 4 pm in room #202.

Much has been written recently about fear creeping into our lives. Our current political and world state of confusion and sometimes chaos has a way of robbing us of the peace and hope promised by the recent celebration of the birth of Jesus. You could make a case that He came into the same kind of world that we have today. Do you think Satan is any less active today than when he approached Jesus after He had fasted for 40 days in the desert? The story is found in Luke 4:1-13 and at one point, Jesus tells Satan “Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.” Remember that after 40 days Jesus is both tired and hungry and is in a vulnerable state. He has been tempted by Satan for 40 days and may have been even a little overwhelmed and fearful of the work God the Father had sent Him to fulfill.

We can only imagine the fear that Jesus experienced in the desert and 3 years later in the garden. If we don’t acknowledge that Satan and the world around us can easily lead us into a state of fear, then I suggest that we are in denial. Fortunately, we can turn to God’s Word in dealing with our fear. A very-often-repeated phrase in the Bible is “fear not.” In our recent telling of the Christmas story, the angel told Mary “Do not be afraid” and later Joseph was also told, “Do not be afraid.” After the birth of Jesus, the shepherds were told the same thing initially as a greeting. It is universal for all of us that things we don’t understand make us fearful. Many believe Satan uses fear as a weapon to get in the way of a life of generosity that God has intended for us. Satan knows that one of his best weapons in separating us from a relationship with Jesus is to cause enough fear for us to turn inward and put ourselves and our welfare first in this life.

We have numerous Biblical principles to guide us from a life of fear to a life of faith. The 11 th chapter of Hebrews is completely devoted to God’s story of the early people of faith. It speaks of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” This chapter is full of people who had good reason to be living in fear, but who “were commended for their faith” as told in verse 39.

The Bible teaches us a lot about fear:

● Fear is removed by faith ● Faith is increased by trust ● Trust is deepened by wisdom ● Wisdom is gained with knowledge

It is through God’s Word that knowledge is acquired and that gives us the strength and weapons to defeat the dispenser of fear: Satan himself. Spending too much time in the fear mode makes us neurotic, paranoid, and a little tight in the area of giving. Moving away from a generous life of giving is both giving into fear and separating us from a life of faith and trust in God. A great reminder and comfort is found in 2 Corin-thians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” Hopefully, The Fear Factor will not get in the way of generosity and cause us to turn inward. As Christ-followers, we will use Satan’s weapon of The Fear Factor against him by increasing our faith and trust in God and bringing God’s message of peace, hope and salvation to our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.

Increased giving of our time, talents and treasures is a visible and positive sign that we refuse to accept the world’s state of confusion and live in a shadow of The Fear Factor. The local church always was and still is the hope of the world. Let’s keep Long’s Chapel strong financially and vibrant with people living sent. A favorite encouraging Scripture is found in Psalm 116:12, “How can I repay the Lord for all His good-ness to me?”

January 2016 Church Council

Summary Our Long’s Chapel Church Council met on Tuesday, January 19 at 6:30 pm. The “worship meeting in which business is conducted” began by lighting the Holy Spirit candle and inviting the Holy Spir-it to lead us and guide us as we discussed the agenda for our time together. As always, all meetings of church leadership are open to anyone (except when discussing personnel issues). What follows is a brief summary:

Eleven Church Council members were present for this Church Council meeting.

Pastor Chuck led the Council in a time of silence and a reading of holy Scripture taken from 1 Thessalonians 5: 14-22.

Tom Fogarty (Finance Leader) led Council in a discussion of church finances for the period January 1 to December 31, 2015. Total revenues ($1,565,808) for the year exceeded the income budget by approximately 7.4%. Revenues also exceeded expenses by $52,383. Praise God for the faithful members of Long’s Chapel family.

Torry Pinter presented a very detailed report of the historical aver-age weekly church attendance.

Tim Phelan led a discussion of the Purpose of Church Council as found in the 2012 Book of Discipline, paragraph 252. There was additional discussion concerning the operation of Church Council based on the new structure of Council that began July 1, 2015.

It was agreed by Council members that the February 16 regularly schedule meeting will be devoted to discerning God’s will concern-ing the next step for the Building Committee’s Master Plan that was presented on December 1, 2015.

We concluded our time together with prayer.

The next regularly scheduled Church Council meeting will be held February 16, 2016. As always, all meetings of church leadership are open to anyone (except when discussing personnel issues).

Please join us to follow the journeys of Paul, beginning with his dramatic con-version, as he spread the Gospel through modern-day Greece and Turkey. Travel to the early church sites via the DVD filmed in all these locations and explore Paul's conversations with the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephe-sians, Philippians, Colossians, and Thessalonians.

In this six-week study, you are invited to experience faith through Christ's greatest teacher and missionary. The apostle Paul and his fellow missionaries turned the ancient world upside down by preaching a gospel of Christ's life, death, and resurrection. Now journey with Adam Hamilton to the ancient sites

themselves in Greece and Turkey and hear penetrating insights that have profoundly shaped every branch of Christianity.

Church Administrator’s Report

Thank you for supporting Long’s Chapel and its ministries. This past year, 2015, was another wonderful year financially for our church. To the right is a summary of all of Long’s Chapel’s operations for the year. We are blessed that all three areas of operations finished with a surplus of funds.

Our giving to the General Fund was up 7% in 2015 vs. 2014 and exceeded the budget by 1.3%. We finished the year with a surplus of $52K.

Our Building fund, at the end of 2015, has a total balance of $276k.

This past year Long’s Chapel was able to give more than $629k or 30% of the total budget and special giving towards outreach, benevolent, and missional causes. Of this amount was giv-en, $195k (for missions and the conference) through the budget and $434k through special giving (does not include the Building Fund). We are a church that focuses on ministry, our community, and missions.

I am thankful we are a “Church That Is Here For The Community” and not just a church in the community!!!

“To God Be The Glory” For the past two decades The Open Door has been strategically placed in Frog Level to be a means of life and light to those in need in our county. Our close connection to Haywood Pathways Center has opened up opportunities to serve our community as well. In Matthew 5:16, Jesus said: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.” In a recent staff devotional I said, “If people only think of us as a place that does good things, we have failed!” I firmly believe that! From its inception, The Open Door has existed for the Glory of God. May we always be more reflectors of His light rather than basking in our own identity. I am so thankful that He has allowed us to be a conduit through which He can work. In 2015, He allowed us to reflect His light in the following ways:

Meals Served: 33,323 people

Food Boxes: 1,112 people

UMW NEWS Do you believe that as we get older, we grow in wisdom? The Bible certainly teaches that and there is one of our UMW Links that absolutely lives this truth. Let me introduce you to the Susannah Wesley Link. This group of ladies together have many years of service to Methodist churches and UMW’s across a wide area. They currently have monthly meetings where they continue to learn about missions and espe-cially about continuing to grow spiritually every day. They also support the Christmas Angels project and UMW Unit activities here at Long’s Chapel. Just so you know, they enjoy life and also go out to lunch regularly for a time of fellowship and staying connected with each other. Their next lunch out is sched-uled for March and if you want to check out this group and join them, contact Lib Walker for details about that. You will be blessed if you do. For information about all our other wonderful Links, contact Becky Jarrell at 246-0331.

The Agape Link will meet on Tuesday, February 9 at 10:00 am in room 102/105. Hostess is Sally Chr istian. The program will be our annual pledge service by Cy Youse, Treasurer. Jean Pate will have a devotional. We welcome anyone not in a Link at this time to join us for the meeting.

Stained Glass Windows Completed! The stained glass windows have been completed. I want to personally thank all of those who so faithfully continued to work each week. My husband, Gerald, felt this calling over eight years ago, and it has come to fruition almost a year after his death. Thank you so much. ~ Janis Jacobson

“Into Jerusalem”: This window depicts our fulfillment of Christ’s command in the Great

Commission to “go into Jerusalem.” Thank you to Lillian Medford Howard and family for donat-ing the window in memory of Mr. & Mrs. C.E. Medford and to Bill Fisher, Joe & Claire Teague, Sonny Lescalleet, Jim Wiggins and Gerald Jacobson for creating this window. Thank you to Pas-tor Chuck for writing this brief history of our church.

Any history of Long’s Chapel has to begin with the book – Long’s Chapel – A Centennial History by Rev. Joe Lasley. There is a note in the front of the book from Bishop Edwin Tullis (an active participant of Long’s Chapel in retirement until his death in 2005) based on Isaiah 51: saying, “Always look to the rock from which you were hewn and to the quarry from which you were dug.” The people of the generation that built the “little white church” (the Long’s Chapel original) were a concerned and sharing people as Long’s Chapel is today.

Rev. James R. Long and Rev. William Hicks co-founded the Richland Institute in the late 1880s. The name was changed to Long’s Chapel in 1892. In that year, Long’s Chapel was a part of the Haywood Circuit of the Western NC Annual Conference with Rev. J.R. Long as superin-tendent. Services were held only once per month for many years. Long’s Chapel remained a circuit church until 1932 when the church was made a station (one church appointment.)

Rev. Frank Siler was pastor from 1924 to 1928 when the overall planning, organization and construction of the old Sanctuary (now the Ven-ue) occurred. Its projected cost was $25,000. As part of the planning, a discussion was held with Duke. The building was started in late 1928 and completed within a year without indebtedness. During the construction, apparently a lot of discussion was had on how to use the bell from the “little white church.” Dr. R.C. Long led the way to add a nice rock belfry in the side yard.

During the next decades, Long’s Chapel was faithful and fruitful in so many ways. The people served, expanded the buildings and launched various ministries to impact the community, region and world.

Then in the early 1990s a powerful renewal occurred. Many trace the explosive growth to Rev. John Boggs and his reliance on the work of the Holy Spirit and the dynamic preaching and teaching of Rev. Rob Fuquay and his many creative talents to shape Long’s Chapel into a transforming fellowship for all. During Rev. Fuquay’s time at Long’s Chapel, a new Sanctuary was built and paid for and the church site ex-panded to 19 acres.

Subsequent years have brought the continued vibrancy of this transforming fellowship. Long’s Chapel continues to be a church not just in the community, but one for the community – one that loves God, loves people and lives sent.

“To the Ends of the Earth”: This window depicts the school in Kenya, Africa as the

Great Commission’s call to “the ends of the earth.” Thank you to Paul Moran for giving this win-dow in memory of Paul Lewis Moran. Thank you to Dean Lind, David Wilkins, Philip Abston, Barbara Bassett, Jim Richardson, Claire Teague and Ellen Russell for creating this window and to Phil Bolinger and Dean Lind for installing both windows. Thank you to Ellen Russell for the following description.

One young lady went on a mission trip to Nairobi, Kenya. She came home inspired about the school there for HIV orphans. She told her family about the school and the dedicated couple who ran the school (themselves orphaned in their early years.) The family shared this with the Koi-nonia Sunday school class and it grew from there. During the Koinonia Class mission trip to Lake Nakuru, Kenya in the summer of 2008, a side trip was taken to visit the Candlelight School in Nairobi. The spark was lit.

From America to Kenya the conversations began with Pastor Fred Afwai and his wife, Alice, who run Candlelight School and make their home a safe house for orphans as well. Months of planning went into bringing together a team that in 2012 came out of the Koinonia class and others, under the leadership of Mark and Laurie Sheppard. The school could not serve the multitude of children in need. The mission was born – to build a second story onto the existing block structure to enlarge Nairobi’s Candlelight School. Much prayer and planning took place on both continents. Then, in July of 2012, the team embarked on the God-appointed experience.

Dusty, litter-strewn roads crowded with swarms of small children who encircled the team with their hugs and greetings upon the team’s arri-val. They knew these folks had come to bring gifts of hope and encouragement to their lives. Faces peered from mud-hut openings to catch a glimpse of the (white) “mazungu” people. After a day of orientation, work began in earnest. Construction materials were purchased, delivered and laboriously carried up the crude stairs to the upper level. Buckets of sand and water were pulled up by rope and mixed in wheelbarrows. African workmen and American volunteers side by side exchanging smiles, the universal language of unity in this common cause. Little by little the classrooms took shape, rising course by course into the blue Kenyan skies.

Some on the team taught Bible study and others painted murals of Biblical scenes on older classroom walls, giving them new life. Still others tested both students and members of the surrounding community for desperately needed eyeglasses. Clean water for their bodies and new Bibles for the souls were purchased and donated. Local workers were hired to do some parts of the project, helping their families as well. Teachers were given seminars and pastors were given counseling on business management. Much was lovingly accomplished. Bonds of friendship were forged. God’s faithful hand provided good things, once again, for those who trust in Him. May this window serve as an inspi-ration to “go forth into all the world.”

This window depicts one of many international mission fields supported by Long’s Chapel Missions. Our efforts and financial support over recent years have extended to: Nicaragua, Bolivia, Guatemala, Peru, Cambodia, the Congo, Armenia, Russia and other Asian and Arabian countries we cannot name for the safety of missionaries there.

Revolution

Student

Ministry

Welcome to Revolution Student Ministry at Long's Chapel UMC. We want our youth ministry to be the catalyst in preparing our students to live spiritually bold lives in a culture desperately needing to see the difference that living for Christ makes. The apostle Paul ex-plains that we are in a spiritual battle and calls us all to “be alert, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong and to love without ceas-ing!” We want our youth ministry to ignite students into spiritual revolution. Our program is intended to be a training and proving ground for the next generation of more fully devoted followers of Christ.

Revolution Student Ministries meets three times per week: Sunday School – During the 9:40 worship hour we offer two clas-ses, Old Testament and New Testament, for our 7th-12th grade stu-dents as well as 56r classes for 5th and 6th grade students.

Youth – All 6th-12th grade students meet together Sunday afternoons from 4 pm to 6 pm for fellowship, worship, and a lesson. When youth is finished we’ll load up and head to a local fast food place for Afterglow, a time of further fellowship.

Life Groups – All 6th-12th grade students are in small groups to dis-cuss curriculum and share life together. Life Groups meet from 6:30 to 8 pm on Wednesday evenings.

5200 Updates God is doing an AMAZING thing down in our children’s area. The goal is to reach 5200 Acts of Service by August 14, 2016. Right now, we are at 2203! Our kids are vacuuming, taking gifts to neighbors, washing cars, sharing food, and walking hum-bly with God. Our adults in the church are serving alongside our kids and the out-reach is multiplying. It’s a beautiful thing to watch God stretch a ministry beyond our own reaches. Want to know more about how to jump in to help us reach our goal? Grab Sally and she will be MORE than happy to tell you all about it!

Families of ALL ages, join us in the Venue from February 17 to March 30, 6:30-8 pm.

A Note from Sally... Thanks to each of you reading for the love that you give to our youngest dis-ciples in LCKids. As a congregation, you understand that parents need a constellation of saints in their corner to support their families and the growth of their children. In Hebrews 12:1, we are told “Therefore, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us” that we will run with endurance. Our kids are blessed to have you in their clouds of witnesses. Please continue to pray for this ministry. We are growing with both kids and volunteers. God is sending the right people—and a bumper crop of babies! If you ever need some joy, please join us downstairs. I promise that you will be enriched by the time spent with our kids and their teachers. I know that I am.

February Bell Ringers Our Fourth Graders will be signaling the calling of community to worship during the month of February. Parents can pick their Fourth Graders up at the Bell Tower at 10:45 am.
