There is a new addition to Huron High School this year: our new vice principal, Mrs. Jolene Konechne. Konechne is originally from Virgil, SD, and is 36 years old. Before coming to Huron, Konechne was an instructional coach in South Sioux City, NE. She is happily married to her husband, Grant, and they have one child, Holly, who is a two-and-a half-year-old. Madeline, Grace, & Trisha coming at you live from our senior year:

Seniors: We rule the school. We get the front-row seats at events, and our voices are finally heard. Let’s make the most of our last year, and take time to enjoy it!

Juniors: Welcome to your hardest year! No lies, it is the most difficult of the four. Try your best and don’t give up!! You’re almost there! Good Luck!

Sophomores: Its time to grow up. You’re not freshmen anymore. Learn to be mature, and respect the teachers. Best wishes for this year. Hopefully you make a lot of memories.

Freshman: Alright, you’re new, but you’re now in high school. Act like it. Don’t fight, observe the upperclassmen and take notes on how they act, and befriend the teachers. Treat others how you want to be treated, and high school will be easy. The next four years will fly by so enjoy it!

Scene: Walking down the freshman halllway... Madeline: “Do you smell something?”Grace: “Yeah, it smells rank.”

The editors of the newspaper ask, “Can we please learn how to properly take care of ourselves? Has anyone heard of personal hygiene?” In case the answer is no, we’ll go over it again...

1. USE DEODORANT EVERY DAY!! — The smell of body odor is not very appealing and can also make the people around you sick. We would all appreciate deodorant use. Make it a part of your daily routine!! If you cannot afford it, ask the school nurse; otherwise Madeline can hook you up.2. TAKE A SHOWER EVERY DAY — Personal hygiene starts with a shower. If you are one of those girls that thinks you’re not supposed to wash your hair everyday...you still can wash your body.3 .AXE DOES NOT REPLACE A SHOWER — Just because it smells good doesn’t mean that it covers your body odor. It mixes with the bad smells, creating an even worse aroma. This brings me to my next point…4. BRUSH YOUR TEETH — Not only will we thank you, but so will your dentist. Nobody likes smelly breath.

On Tuesday, the cheer and dance team performed at their only home competition where the seniors and their parents were honored. The team turned in an outstanding performance, finishing second in hip hop, jazz, and pom, second overall in dance and fourth overall in cheer.

Aquarius(1/20-2/16)~You may be feeling a little restless with Homecoming just getting over. Stop stressing, you still have all year to get through. Stay focused, and you’ll have a great year.

Pisces(2/19-3/20)~It seems that many people have been trying to get your attention lately. You are a very important person, and people look to you for guidance. I urge you to be polite and help as many people as you can.

Aries(3/21-4/19)~Trouble is coming your way. Get ready. If you’re in a position to handle it, then handle it. If not, then distance yourself from the situation and stay sane.

Taurus(4/20-5/20)~When you find yourself in a squabble, your ability to compromise comes in quite handy. Be careful, and remember what you say can hurt others. Keep your spirits bright.

Gemini (5/21-6/20)~You guys like to spend money. Start being aware of your purchases. Maybe put some mula to the side to save for a rainy day.

Cancer(6/21-7/22)~Your nerves may be on edge, and you’re more likely to snap at the people around you. I suggest taking a hot bath while drinking a Casey’s slushy or some herbal tea. Accept that you should take it easy.

Leo(7/23-8/22) ~ A breakthrough is coming. Clearing away past traumas and releasing things that have been holding you back is vital to your happiness. It’s a process that might involve tears, but set it all free.

Virgo(8/23-9/22) ~ We Virgos are feeling down lately. A loved one has left, new things are happening, and you have no clue how to cope. Just keep living day by day and eventually you’ll be a 90 year-old in an old folks home.

Libra(9/23-10/21) ~ A significant other has some things to deal with and doesn’t have time for you right now. Relax, this person’ll be back after they figure it all out and will need you to be there for them.

Scorpio(10/22-11/21) ~ You need to speak to people directly. Your ways of communicating seem to have some flaws. It’ll get better.

Sagittarius(11/22-12/21) ~ Find out what you value. It could be friends, family, your education, or even your faith. Believe in your values, don’t let anyone tell you how you should feel.

Capricorn(12/22-1/19) ~ CapriCORN, it’s almost time for harvest.

The volleyball team took on Pierre on Thursday night at the Arena. They came on strong and never let up, sweeping Pierre in three sets.

The football team played Brookings Bobcats Friday night at Tiger Stadium. They took the lead early and kept it for the entire game, winning with a score of 29-7. The crowed rushed the field, and the bell rang again.

The tennis team opened up Homecoming week with a triangular on Monday versus Roncalli and Mitchell. It was the last home meet, and the seniors and their parents were honored. The team came up short in their matches but played well. They’re back in competition on Thursday with ESD in Brandon.
