Meet Our New Foreign Exchange Student, Nico Profendiener

Meet Nico Profendiener, a fourteen year old sophomore. Nico is from Southwest Germany, which is a little bit larger than Butte. Nico is a neat guy that is super friendly. Nico’s birthday is coming up very soon, in fact, it is the twenty-fifth of September. He is enjoying his time in the United States so far. He is still adapting to the culture change so make sure that everyone that sees him or interacts with him is very kind and welcoming.

Nico has not seen much of Butte yet. He would really like to see the Lady of the Rockies though. Nico’s favorite color is orange and thinks that the weather so far in Butte is nice. He plays football and loves to ski. Nico made it very clear that he is passionate about skiing. So, if you have an extra seat sometime this winter, take him up to a ski lodge and show him a good time. Nico has already found his favorite teacher, but it isn’t Mr. K. His favorite teachers right now are Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Yelenich. If you are not either of those two teachers then you better step up your game. Nico confirmed that we are indeed friends. If you see Nico in the hallways or outside of school make sure to give him a kind and MAROON welcome!

They traveled to Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, and Switzerland. Traveling around the world has greatly impacted these students lives. Student Emily Campbell says “Travel club was a really fun experience because I got to travel across the world with my friends. I think everyone should go on a trip with travel club if they can!!” Fellow student Mati McGree says “My favorite part of the trip was meeting all the different people from different places and seeing how they live.” All the participants experience different cultures, see how people live their everyday lives, and try new foods. I encourage everyone to get out and see what the world has to offer. Experiencing different cultures will enhance your outlook on the world. By Cassidy Strizic
