The annual York P.T.O. Auction and Carnival was a tremendous success thanks to the planning, organization, and extremely en- ergetic P.T.O. volunteers. The auction and carnival, raised close to $45,000.00! We appreciate those who donated items and to those who bought items! We also want to thank all who helped with classroom projects and the committee members and their workers for the smooth running of the auction, raffle tickets, sales, food, set-up, and clean-up. Finally, thanks to those who helped staff the carnival. The children had a wonderful time there! Your work is greatly appreciated by all of the students and staff at York! Each student is part of a "mini crew" that meets every oth- er week. These are small groups of 10-12 students who meet every other week during Crew time. These groups are led by one of the many adults in our build- ing and include students from all four grade levels! Our goal is to help students build relationships with one another and also with another adult in the build- ing who they might not know very well. It's neat to see all 275 of our kiddos moving through the halls to meet with their small groups! We also meet as a Whole School Crew. These Whole School Crews are held in the gym with the whole student body. Classrooms and grade levels take turns leading Whole School Crew, where students do the talking and lead the activity that focuses on one of our Habits of Scholarship. They practice speaking and presenting ahead of time, so they are prepared for their opportunity to lead. York Kindergarten Round–Up will be Wednesday, April 22, 2020 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. This will

be a time to register your child for the upcoming Kindergarten school year. You do not need to

sign up for a specific time, but are welcome to come anytime between 3:00-6:00 p.m. If you have

already contacted the office about your child entering school in the fall, you will receive a packet

of forms at the beginning of April to complete and return at Round-Up. A copy of your child’s

birth certificate and a proof of residency will be needed to enroll your child.

We look forward to meeting you and your child as they start this new journey!

    SPRING HAS SPRUNG!!

Every attempt is made to have students go

out at recess, as this is also a valuable time

for their learning. Students should wear a

jacket when the weather is below 60 de-

grees. Students may go without jackets

when the weather is above 60 degrees. Stu-

dents should not wear flip flops or sandals

and shorts when the weather will be below

60 degrees during the day. Students will be

expected to go outside for recess, so please

help them make good decisions about

    clothing during cool weather.

    NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK

Mark your calendars for National School

Breakfast Week, March 2-6th. As many of you know, breakfast is the best start you can give your child in the morning, the best

start they could have to start off their school day. This week encourage your child to participate in this nation-wide event. Prizes will be given to students who drop by and eat with us. We may even have a

few fun menu surprises up our sleeves. Breakfast is served right away in the morning and costs $1.65

per meal or $.40 for reduced students. If your stu-dent happens to be late we always make sure they

get the time to eat. We look forward to seeing you during National School Breakfast Week!
