The North Carolina Turnpike Authority was created in 2002 by the General Assembly in response to concerns about rapid growth, heavy congestion and dwindling resources. The Turnpike Authority is authorized to study, plan, develop, construct, operate and maintain up to nine projects. PRICING PROJECTS – OLD & NEW (Carolina Ballroom)Priced managed lanes have been in existence in the US for almost 25 years. Cordon pricing has been in existence in Europe for nearly 15 years. New versions of these pricing concepts are being implemented or at least considered for implementation around the US to help solve critical transportation problems. This panel session will visit several of the older pricing projects to see how they are doing today. Are they meeting their goals and generating revenue? Is the public happy with the projects?
