 Please note that all courses over 8 weeks are accredited with the vocational school board and, as such, qualify for government-based student loan assistance. Graduates of courses under 2 weeks will receive a certificate and those over two weeks will receive a recognized diploma. As well as the regular diploma exams for our Full and Part- time Makeup program we now offer ‘ITEC’ international certification. This is the recognized leader in international make-up artistry and a highly significant advantage for our graduates, something we are very proud of. Artists Within Makeup Academy is the only school in Alberta to offer this qualification in Makeup Artistry. To date our students have achieved 100% success – again, something we are very proud of.

Fully Accredited Diploma Programs  

 Makeup Diploma with an International Certificate - 12 & 16 Weeks

 This course is designed to take you from the basics of makeup, to a full understanding of application and techniques needed to succeed in the fashion industry as a makeup artist. Perfect for those with no experience, to those already working in the field, wanting to improve their skills. Due to the small class size, we are able to give individual attention enabling students to progress at their own level. The Makeup course covers all aspects of fashion makeup. Both the 12-week full time course and the 16-week part-time course cover the same material, allowing the student to learn at a pace which suits their needs. The Makeup course includes a professional photo shoot, marketing preparation and the business skills needed to manage your career. The ITEC international certification, is recognized in 36 countries around the world. Each student is required to complete a project within a 4-week period, after attending his or her 8 weeks on campus. In order to participate in the ITEC exam your fee of $295.00 must be paid, as well as hand in your out of school project. Without these students cannot take the international exam. No Prerequisite

Advanced Makeup Diploma - 12 Weeks Advanced makeup is a diploma program for those that have taken the basic makeup diploma program and are wishing to enhance their skills, push their limits and get creative! This program will cover topics such as: enhancing creative and inspirational thinking, fashion special effects that may be used on shoots or for runway shows; body art; advanced creative application and techniques; advanced airbrushing techniques; temporary tattooing; historical period makeup; theatrical and character makeup. Upon completion of the course, graduates will be highly competent and able to strive for enhanced job placement and opportunities. The Advanced Makeup program includes a course booklet, advanced makeup kit, and a photo shoot with a professional photographer. The course is 12 weeks on campus. Prerequisite: Makeup Diploma and Airbrushing Certificate

2018 Session Hair Styling Diploma Program - 8 & 16 Weeks This course teaches hair styling for photo shoots, television, commercials, video, runway, and bridal work. It is a definite advantage as a makeup artist to be able to style hair also, giving you greater versatility. In this industry you are more marketable being able to do hair and makeup, rather than one or the other. We teach you how to work with different face shapes and hair textures, appliances and products. The course covers styling techniques from basic, to more elaborate creations. The hair course may be combined with the makeup course to become a full time program or may be taken individually. The course runs Mondays and Tuesdays over 8 weeks and includes one photo shoot with a professional photographer.

Fashion Styling Diploma Program - 12 & 16 Weeks This course is designed for those wanting to break into the industry as a fashion stylist for photo shoots, personal shopping and runway shows. Students develop an understanding of designers and trends, delving deep into industry publications. They follow new cult trends on a daily basis encouraging them to explore their full creative potential. Students learn about topics such as; understanding body shape and type, fibers and textiles, color theory, image consulting, fashion and catalogue shoots, accessories, fashion lay downs, on and off figure styling, fashion show production, story board prep, fashion direction, and creative thinking. One photo shoot is included in this course, shot by a fashion photographer, with students working on professional

models, creating their own looks. The aim of this program is to alter student’s visual and sensory perception allowing them to experience the inner workings of the fashion industry. Upon completion of this course, students are equipped to try their hand in various areas of the fashion industry, enhancing the career they aspire to.

Special Effects Film Makeup Diploma Program - 12 Weeks This course teaches everything you need to know to become a well-rounded and capable Special FX out-of-kit artist. You will be learning about; wound effects, illnesses, beard laying/wig making, bald caps, tattoo effects and much more! Upon the completion of this course, graduates will be highly competent and able to take their skills to the next level. This is the perfect for students that wish to enter the film, television and theatrical world.  Airbrushing - 2 Days This 2-day course helps complete any makeup artist’s knowledge. Let us update your skills with this increasingly popular method of makeup application used by many of the top makeup artists in the industry. It is necessary for those taking this course to have the basic 12 or 20-week makeup course. This course concentrates on various techniques of airbrush application, including facial makeup, bodywork, stenciling.

.................................................. Eyelash Extensions - 1 Day This is a new technique created to enhance the length and thickness of the natural lashes. The extensions are applied one by one to the existing lashes creating a natural or very enhanced look to the eye. The lashes last 2-3 weeks before touch ups are required. This is a great service to offer to clients in a salon setting, for brides to be, and for models. Eyelash extensions are the latest beauty trend… now is the time to get started.
