HALONG BAY e emerald green waters of Halong Bay have enticed travellers for years. Located in northeast Vietnam, Halong Bay is dotted with limestone karst mountains and grottoes.

Legend goes that when Vietnam was still young the Gods sent a family of dragons down into Halong Bay to protect the country. e dragons began to spit out jewels and jade, that turned into the islands that are found in the bay and linked them together to form a wall keeping invaders away. After a battle, the dragons decided to call the bay home, settling in the bay and forming the small islets and caves that are found here today.

Halong Bay consists of over 3,000 islands, topped with lush vegetation jutting from the bay. A number of spectacular beaches can be found in the bay, creating island paradises. Enjoying a slightly cooler climate than mainland Vietnam, Halong Bay is a serene getaway from the busy and ever growing Hanoi.

e best way to tour the bay is on a junk boat travelling through the waters, passing fl oating villages, schools and markets.
