A high mountain ridge runs from the east to the west of the island and the interior is mostly covered in rich tropical vegetation.

The lowland hills are decorated with coconut palms, and emerald paddy �elds, that slope gently down to the stunning beaches that can be found all around the island; it’s these white sandy beaches where most people choose to live, or stay.

Samui �rst developed a reputation as an almost secret retreat; where only the most daring and adventurous travellers were fortunate enough to discover the island’s outstanding natural beauty. But, when the airport opened, Samui was suddenly an accessible location for a much wider group of travellers and since then the island’s growth has been remarkable. quite mountainous with many peaks covered in lush jungle. The lowlands consist of rice paddies, rubber plantations, pineapples, coconuts and the only signi�cation area of virgin rainforest remaining on the island, the protected Khao Prao Thaeo Park.

The most beautiful beaches are found on the west coast, separated by rocky coves and headlands. Whereas the east coast comprises mainly limestone shoals, a few sandy beaches, and spectacular limestone islands that adorn the horizon. Coral gardens full of exotic marine life are plentiful in the emerald waters surround-ing the island.

Tourism has dominated Phuket’s economy for over 20 years and over 3 million visitors arrive every year to enjoy the island’s natural beauty and the many activities and amenities. The most popular areas are Patong, Kata and Karon, however nearly all the beaches along the west coast are frequented by locals and tourists alike with the northern beaches on the west coast remaining quieter and less developed.

B aan Chao Lay is a deluxe villa located on the idyllic west coast of Koh Samui. O�ering guests a superior standard of accommodation from its classy, design to its contemporary interior, this villa has certainly been built with quality in mind. Entering

through the villas inner gates, to the left and right you �nd four out of the properties �ve bedrooms. Located in two separate pavilions with two bedrooms in each, these bedrooms consist of 4 double beds with own en-suite and decorative garden.

Within the central courtyard is the swimming pool with Jacuzzi. Wrapping around this area is the combined kitchen/dining/living room and on the opposite side the master bedroom with en-suite. Both of these pavilions have stunning water views and some of the most stunning sunsets you will ever witness.

B aan Kilee is situated on Samui’s unspoilt west coast, and boasts 30 metres of prime beach frontage looking out towards the famous Five Islands with beautiful sunsets viewed straight from the property’s many terraces. A stunning villa with some highly

distinctive design features, Baan Kilee takes open-plan design to new levels and blurs the distinction between the indoor and outdoor worlds. At Baan Kilee, speci�cally designed doors and windows can be folded back, while the natural world is also made welcome through the choice of cedar wood shingles for the roofs, which help the villa blend subtly with its surrounding. A swathe of beach side lawn fronts the living areas, forming a natural border between the large swimming pool, the beach and the sea.

As you enter this expansive villa through a large sliding door, you enter an attractive garden with an orchid-covered walkway that passes by an attractive lily pond and leads to the main dining room. Inside, two suspended seats that hang on chains from the ceiling, and the large dining table presents a spectacular place entertain friends or guests. On the left side these individual buildings house the villa’s main living room, lounge and kitchen respectively, while on the right hand side you �nd two large, comfortably furnished guest bedrooms with specially designed drop-down wooden staircases connecting to two loft rooms ideal accommodation for children.

The 5 master bedroom suites all enjoy sea views and private terraces and each include air-conditioning, satellite TV, DVD and iPod connections, while for real music lovers and movie bu� the IT/AV room features a 2-metre screen, surround and video/CD libraries. Next to the main pool, guests can sip cocktails while sitting on sunken stools in a smaller pool with its own bar and pull down projection screen. There’s also a generously sized barbeque pit, as well as the large aforementioned double kitchen that allows for several chefs to work simultaneously and thus prepare enough food for a banquet.

Baan Mika holds a prime beachfront location and the rustic feel of the outer-wall is mirrored in the wooden doors, windows, and furniture. Thatched Salas, rattan-lined vaulted ceilings and wooden roofs all add to the rural ambience. However, Baan

Mika enjoys all the comforts and technology of a modern luxury home.

This villa focuses around a central swimming pool that runs almost the whole length of the villa up to the beach. The open-plan lounge building on the right contains a mix of traditional and contemporary furniture in areas de�ned for relaxing and entertainment. The right bedroom pavilion contains two double-bedrooms with separate en-suite bathrooms, each with outdoor bathtub and shower. A door links the two rooms.

Next is the master-pavilion with shower room, dressing area, bedroom, seating area and sliding doors to a large terrazzo bath tub; from which you can enjoy the views out to sea. Beyond this room is a Sala with an outdoor lounge. On the opposite side of the pool is another Sala with kitchen, BBQ and dining area. There are two bedroom pavilions identical to the opposite ones and, at the entrance end, the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has a large island feature and branded appliances.

This is a well designed property, with six bedrooms the villa provides ample space to allow each guest their own privacy. However the pool, dining area and lounge are all big enough to be used comfortably by all guests at once.

A very special property with bold architecture and cutting edge design features, Baan Ora Chon is de�nitely an eye-catching home. From the minute you arrive at the stone-walled entrance you will want to explore this property. The intricate layout

has a captivating charm with staircases and pathways linking the di�erent levels of the accommodation and creating an interesting design.

Directly in front of the entrance is the main living pavilion approached via wide stone steps. On the left is the elevated living and dining area with vaulted ceiling and a balcony that looks over the garden, the pool and the ocean. To the right are steps leading over a water feature and to a two-storey building. Upstairs is a bedroom with dressing area; en-suite bathroom, incorporating an outdoor bathtub; and two balconies. Downstairs is a further en-suite bedroom.

Stairs from the living area go down to the �tted kitchen and lounge/TV room. Steps go to an en-suite bedroom with covered terrace. On the right side of the property is a pavilion housing two further bedrooms separated by an inner garden area and each with a dressing area, en-suite and outdoor bathtub. To the left are the in�nity swimming pool and Sala with pool side bar and kitchen and then there’s the white-sand beach.

Baan Ora Chon is an intriguing and interesting property. It’s an excellent example of architectural initiative providing practical, private and luxurious accommodation on the beach.

On entering you’re faced with an astonishing view through the villa grounds along the central pathway to the ocean. Five pavilions provide the living space and there’s a stylish black slate-edged swimming pool.

The �rst pavilion on the right has two double en-suite bedrooms on the ground �oor. A staircase leads upstairs to a comfortable relaxing area and a double-bedroom with large sun terrace and en-suite bathroom with a luxurious stone, sea-view bathtub.

At the end of this pavilion there is a terrace and a lotus pond with wooden bridge over to an island Sala feature. The next building has another bathroom, a fully-�tted kitchen, open plan dining area and a comfortable lounge. At the front is the pool and Jacuzzi, outdoor shower, garden and access to the exceptional white-sand beach.

The opposite side of the property has the master-suite, with lounge area, four-poster bed; dressing area; and a feature outdoor bathroom. Nestled in the heart of tranquillity in the hills of Bophut, Ban Kinaree strikes an idyllic balance between contemporary grandeur and Thai-Balinese timelessness. The walk-through the entrance area and water features gives away the atmosphere

from the �rst step into the villa. Ban Kinaree is made of 3 separate pavilions harmonized in a terraced compound setting with luxuriant and lush garden landscaping.

The smallest pavilion hosts one bedroom; the main pavilion features the large living/ dining/kitchen as well as the 20 meter terrace overlooking Bophut Bay on the �rst �oor, 2 bedrooms occupy the ground �oor; the third pavilion hosts the master bedroom and the 5th bedroom.

This grand room, on the second level of the main house, creates a laid-back feeling through the use of space, design and the stunning view enjoyed from all angles through full-length windows. There’s a gourmet kitchen, twelve-seat dining table, and the living/entertainment area with modern Thai décor and a high-quality audio/visual system that’s linked to every part of the house.
