LOG MAX HEADS ARE DESIGNED FOR HEAVY USAGE AND DEPENDABILITY. WITH HIGH AND RELIABLE PERFORMANCE, LOG MAX WILL BOOST PRODUCTION UNDER ANY CONDITIONS.

Balanceandlowimpactfeeding

To facilitate harvesting, Log Max heads are designed to hang vertically when in “Tilt-Up”position,whichmakespositioningtostanding trees easier.

The roller arm and roller arm cylinder geometry increases leverage with increasing trunkdiameter.Thisgiveshigherrollerpressureonlargertrunks,whentractionisneeded, and promotes minimal crushing of fiber leading to higher quality timber.Thefeedrollersalwaysworkperpendicularto the tree, as opposed to using angled rollerarmstohelpcarrythetrunk.This limits frictionlossesandbarkscraping.

LogMaxpatentedknifecontrolwhichminimizes friction combined with the feed roller geometry and unique compound curve delimbingknifeprofileprovidesoutstandingstem coverage and increased log quality.

Weusetwotypesoffellinglinks,afullywelded Swedish steel closed box integrating two forged steel elements, the rotator fixture forthebestlinkagetothecraneandthebottom hinge connecting the frame.

Hydraulic System

The Log Max hydraulic system is engineered with simplicity and serviceability in mind, from the placement of the hydraulic components to the hose routing.

The hydraulic system is easily accessed for service through a tilt open cover, which requires no tools to open. Powerful feed roller motors provide high efficiency and low hydraulic losses.

Acaststeellinkisalsoavailableforthethoughestconditions.Thecastlinkismounted on all XT series heads, 6000 Twin and also on the latest eucalyptus head, the Log Max E6.

Measuring

The length measuring wheel is placed in the center of the frame between the rollers for accurate length measuring and high timber quality. The geometry of the roller arms is designed to increase the pressing force againstthetrunkwithincreasingoffsetfromthe center, i.e. the rollers always strive to center the tree over the measuring wheel.

Diameter measuring is calculated using sensors in both feed roller arms, which records diameter every 10 cm.

Cutting System

High performance saw hydraulics provide full flow to the fully enclosed saw motor for fast cutting,reducingtheriskofcrackformation.

Thefellinglinkisbuiltasaclosedboxwhichprovides high torsional strength.

The hydraulic system has been improved to increase efficiency and reduce hydraulic losses.

LogMaxpatentedknifecontrolautomaticallyadjuststheknivestocraddlethetrunkduring feeding without pressing the tree up against the frame, allowing it to flow easily through the head.

Thankstothepatentedknifecontrol,theneed for extra frame mounted rollers is eliminated. Log Max harvesting heads utilize long low-friction glide plates which provide higher available delimbing force and lower fuel consumption.

Thefloatingtopknifecomesintwoversionsthat can either be adjustated manually on the head or automatically from the harvesterscontrolsystem-ActiveFrictionControl.

Log Max heads are mounted with three delimbingknives,twoatthetopandonelowerknifewhichisdoubledontheLogMax6000 Twin and E6 for optimal delimbing from tip to tip.

Builtfromselectedsteel,thestrenghtanddurabilityofthesekniveshasbeenprovenovertheyears.Withalongcuttingedgethe limbs are sheared off instead of beeing rippedoutorbrokenoffforahigherlogquality.

V-Steel EucalyptusLow impact feeding, the feed rollers always workperpendiculartothetree,whichhasfor benefit to minimize friction losses and roller penetration. This geometry also ensures accurate lenght measuring for high quality timber.

Available for all Log Max heads.

Log Max Eucalyptus rollers have angled edgesfordebarkingaseucalyptusdemandscompletedebarkingwhenfelling.

These rollers are avaiable for Log Max 4000/5000/6000/7000.

Byplacingthestudbarsinangledrows,Log Max has obtained a self cleaning feed roller with very high pulling force both in forward andreverse,withoutriskofspinning.TheV-steelAggressiverollerhasstudsthatsinkdeeperinthetreetrunk.

The Log Max 928 features a hydraulically driven saw with pressure controlled sawing force and flow controlled chain speed.

The high performance saw hydraulics provide full flow to the bottom saw resulting in fast cutting. This saw unit is able to fell trees up to 420 mm.

There is no need to go out and change the settings by adjusting the unit, everything is now set automatically. Low

friction is desired as it leads to lower fuel consumption and heat generation. There is the exception of when delimbing heavily branched trees with small diameter limbs a higherfrictionminimizestheriskofsimplybending them flat.

The harvester’s computer is the brain of theActiveFrictionControlandbasedonyour settings, the Log Max head behaves optimally depending on tree species and diameter. For example, a thinning of pine and birch can behave quite differently based on tree species.
