!  Log into iCampus. !  Go to: https://icampus.strayer.edu/ !  Select “Login.” !  Enter your student User ID and Password and click “Sign In.”

!  Once you are logged in, click Student Services and select College Success Placement Exam from the drop-down menu.

You may view Sample Tests prior to launching the assessment by clicking “Click here” after “Want to get familiar with the assessment first?” Select “Math Sample Test” for math and “Writing MC Sample Test” for English. *Note these sample tests are not for study purposes; they are only for you to familiarize yourself with how to click through the assessment.

!  The College Success Placement Exam page explains the purpose of the assessment and gives instructions on how to complete it. It also tells you about the scoring and retake process.

!  To launch the assessment, click “Click here to begin your College Success Assessment” at the bottom of the page.

!  If you have been just recently enrolled, you may see a drop-down menu instead of a link to College Success. Select your campus from the list, then click “Choose Campus.” The page will refresh with your link to the assessment.

! iCampus redirects you to the College Success site. Review the College Success Online License Agreement and click “Accept.” Optionally, you may print a copy for your records by clicking “Print.” Before you click “Accept,” make sure you are ready to start the assessment. You must complete the entire assessment in one sitting or you will be locked out and need to call your Academic Office for assistance to continue.

!  The College Success Student Privacy Policy loads. Review the policy then click “I have read this policy.”

!  The Welcome Page launches. This page provides some simple instructions about taking the assessment. Please read through them carefully then click “Next.”

!  You are given directions for answering questions during the assessments. Review these carefully. !  To answer each question, you will click the circle next to the best answer, then click “Submit.”

!  You are then directed to answer three questions to determine which assessments need to be taken: the English only, the math only, or both assessments.

!  Answer “yes” or “no” to each question as appropriate. This will tell College Success to load the proper assessments into your account.

!  You will only answer “yes” to one question. If you answer “no” to all three questions, the assessment will close and you will need to contact your LRCM or Academic Office to proceed.

!  You may not use outside resources during the assessment. It is important that you complete this assessment on your own, as this will ensure you are placed into the most appropriate class to help you to succeed. Please be aware that students who violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary procedures up to and including suspension from Strayer University.

!  A calculator is provided within the assessment environment for certain math questions. You can open the calculator by clicking on the calculator icon in the bottom left of the page as shown below.

!  You must complete the entire assessment in one sitting. If you leave your assessment idle for three minutes or more, your session is terminated. You’ll need to contact your campus Academic Office or Learning Center Resource Manager (LRCM) to unlock your assessment.

!  Please note that if you see the below page, your assessment is NOT complete. You will need to request your assessment be unlocked so you can finish it. You may not see this page. Instead you might be redirected to the login page.

!  Once you complete your first assessment, if you are required to take both English and math, you are automatically prompted to start the next one. Click “Start Test Session” to begin the next assessment.

!  Do not click “Cancel & Exit” or you are locked from the session. Your assessment will need to be unlocked by the campus LRCM after which you will be able to pick up where you left off.

!  When you complete the English section, depending on your score you may be prompted to take another English assessment. This also applies to the math section. This is the diagnostic portion of the assessment and MUST BE COMPLETED TO PROCEED IN THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS.

!  The diagnostic assessment is another 20-25 questions that will generate a self-assessment report and personalized study resources that you can review at the end of the assessment. It is critical that you take the time to answer the diagnostic questions as best as you can in order to get the most accurate report of your strengths and weaknesses and resources specific for your skill level.

!  Note that failure to complete the diagnostic sections prevents your assessment from being completed so you and your Academic Office cannot view your scores. This stalls the entire enrollment process.

If you see the below screen for either English or math, the assessment has not started over. This is the diagnostic section and it is critical to complete this. The report the diagnostic creates is a key tool in preparation for your courses. Share your diagnostic report with your Academic Advisor and English and math instructors. This will help them set a starting point for you and enable them to make better suggestions for the next steps you will take in your academic career.

Course Placement

The diagnostic report is a self-assessment tool that shows the areas that you excel in and where you can improve. Click View to open the Math and English reports.

!  Once you complete the assessment, the next screen tells you that you can view your score report. If you only see a white screen, you may need to scroll down to see this message. Click “Next” to view the score report. This report shows your scores on the assessment and what courses you have placed into based on the results. After you have reviewed your scores, please contact your Academics Office in order to continue your registration process.

!  If you completed either the English or math diagnostics assessments, you can view your self-assessment by clicking “View” under “Linear Test Report” as shown below.

!  The questions are aligned to the developmental and the collegiate course learning objectives. The graph shows how you scored against each course’s objectives.

!  This student got 54% of the questions related to MAT090 correct and 0% of the questions related to MAT104 correct.

Click on MAT090 and MAT104 to view a breakdown of each skill area. (See next slide.)

!  Clicking on MAT090 and MAT104 as shown in the previous slide opens the below charts. These charts show each of the skill areas aligned to the MAT090 and MAT104 learning objectives and how you scored in each area.

!  This student did well in basic arithmetic and relating decimals, fractions, and percents because they scored 100% in those skill areas. They scored 0% on real numbers and simplifying expressions using exponents, so they need to work on those areas.

!  The below chart shows how you answered each question compared to the correct answer. It also shows which skill area each question falls into and which course it is aligned to.

Click on the question number under “Item” to view the question and all possible answers. (See next slide.)

Click the “iSEEK” button next to any skill area to run an Internet search of study materials pertaining to that subject.

!  When you click on a question number, the window shown below opens. This window shows the question you clicked on and all possible answers. It also reminds you of your answer and the correct answer. You can review your work this way.

!  Click “Previous” and “Next” to navigate through the questions.

!  Based on the diagnostic, the assessment will provide personalized resources to help you study in your weaker areas. You can use these in order to retake the assessment and prepare for your courses. Study materials are accessed by clicking the red “Resources” icon on the Student Dashboard as shown below.

!  A new window opens. Select from the list of links to access your resources. They will open as external websites in your browser. !  You are able to access this report and your personalized study resources at any time after taking the assessment by clicking the

College Success Assessment link in your iCampus account. You can access your dashboard as long as you are a Strayer student.

How do I Retake the test?

!  Students who place into the developmental courses on the first try are eligible to retake the College Success assessment one additional time after five calendar days.

!  After the five-day period, contact your LRCM requesting a retake. The LRCM will send you instructions for taking the retake. Retakes must be taken on campus unless you are an Online or Verizon student.

!  You will complete the retake the same way you did the original assessment. This time, click on Strayer Assessment Retake to begin.
