Our productsFamous for our trade marked ‘Bury Hill Black’, a premium grade blended dark, rich, planting soil which is increasingly specified by Professional Landscape Designers, Specifiers and Contractors for prestigious landscaping projects. We have recently expanded our product ranges to include an extensive number of BS3882:2015 soils and BS8601:2013 subsoils along with highly specialist and bespoke soil blends. These include lightweight substrates for roof gardens, low fertility soils for wild flower meadows and natural ericaceous soils and loams for acidic planting schemes. We are further able to produce bespoke blends and mixes to meet even the most exacting project specifications. In addition, we have evolved a range of specialist horticultural and compost mixes, which now include the full range of John Innes composts and the addition of a new ericaceous compost as well as a choice of general Multi-Purpose compost blends with peat free options.

With a wealth of experience in meeting the stringent demands of the professional landscape and horticultural industries over many years, we are all too aware of the importance of quality and consistency. As such, all our soils and horticultural blends and mixes are produced from known sourced quality materials, whilst a number of our specialist soils and dressings are created from virgin ‘guaranteed contaminate free’ soils, specialist natural sands and selected organic PAS100 composts. For added reassurance, all our premium soils fully meet the appropriate British Standard and beyond, due to the additional extensive testing criteria we undertake. To further support the continuing quality of our topsoils, specialist soils and horticultural mixes, all our loose materials are stored on clean concrete within their own bays to avoid cross contamination, whilst our premium loose soils and bagged materials are stored in the dry, under cover, guaranteeing our customers a dry workable material regardless of the weather.


British Standard Certification & Beyond…Increasingly, the landscape industry has sort higher testing standards to ensure that the soils and materials specified fully meet the demanding criteria set by the British Standard. As a responsible company we fully understand the importance of robust testing, and, where applicable, our soil and compost products and landscape materials are fully tested to the relevant British Standard as a minimum.

The British Standard for topsoil is BS3882:2015, which sets out therequirements for topsoil classification and composition, specifyingcharacteristics such as texture, acidity and contaminants. All ourpremium grade topsoils are tested using UKAS accredited laboratoriesto BS3882:2015 as a minimum. In addition, we voluntarily test for HeavyMetals, Hydro Carbons, Asbestos, Calcium Carbonate and much more. It is this additional testing coupled with the frequency of our testing, which sets our soils and materials apart from our competitors, allowing our customers to buy from us with total confidence. All our British Standard Certification test data is available in PDF format when required.

Free SamplesTo help our customers choose the right materialfor larger orders and to allow a visual inspectionof the material prior to delivery, we are happy tomail out a FREE sample of any of our materials.These are sent using first class mail or whenrequired urgently, on a next day courier service.Where a sample is required for a smaller order,these can be sent for a small cost to cover postand packing.


Trade CollectionsThe majority of our deliveries are through our yard situated at Broadbridge Heath, near Horsham, West Sussex. The yard is also open for trade collections 6 days a week, from 7.30 am until 16.30pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings 8.00 am to 12.00 pm seasonally. All our soils and landscape materials are available both loose and in bulk bags, and for our larger trade customers, can be bagged into their own branded bags at no extra charge.

New Production, Bagging & Collections Yard Having sourced the best core materials, a clean working area is essential for blending quality soils and specialist loose materials in order to avoid contamination, whilst dry covered storage ensures that our bagged materials remain friable and workable whatever the weather. Whilst our bulk soils are blended off site in clean designated working areas, our specialist soils and blended landscape and horticultural products are all mixed and blended in our NEW production yard. In order to avoid any form of contamination during this process, all our mixed and blended products are worked off clean concrete before being bagged and stored under cover, ensuring that all our bagged materials remain dry and friable until delivery to our customers. This is particularly important for many of our bespoke blends and premium horticultural mixes and, of course, for ensuring that our sports dressings and premium kiln dried logs remain dry and ready for use. We have undercover dry storage for over 2000 bulk bags, making us unique amongst topsoil providers. Furthermore, we have over 35 purpose build, clean storage and blending bays, which allow us to hold a large range of specialist and blended materials in stock ready for bagging and loose delivery.Where applicable our products and materials are tested to the relevant British Standard, allowing our customers to buy with total peace of mind and confidence.


Delivery InformationWhilst the majority of our deliveries are throughout London and the South East, all our products and materials can be delivered Nationwide at competitive rates. All our topsoils and loose materials are generally sold in large tunnel loop bulk bags, providing a clean and tidy means of delivery. However, where required, we also offer a choice of bulk bags, which include multi-lift bags and bags with a discharge spout. Should smaller quantities of material be required, many of our products can be pre-packed into handy 25kg/70lt bags and palletised, which is ideal where access is tight or restricted. Where larger quantities of topsoil and landscape materials are required, we offer loose loads of between 5 and 29 ton, which are delivered on 4, 6 and 8 wheel trucks with loads over 20t being delivered on 30t artics.Delivery TimesThe delivery times between placing an order and delivery, will depend on the product being ordered, the quantity and delivery method required and the delivery postcode. In normal circumstances you should allow 2 to 3 working days for loose loads and 3 to 4 days for bulk bag deliveries. However, should an order be URGENT, we

will endeavour to provide a FASTER delivery service which is often within 24 hours.Please note that deliveries made using a pallet service will normally be made on a 3-day delivery service, unless specified otherwise, when next day and timed deliveries are available.

Delivery MethodMost products and materials are delivered using our own transport, with the exception of turf, which we deliver using specialist vehicles or on a Next Day pallet service for smaller orders.All bulk bag deliveries are made using our own specialist six-wheel rear-steer rigid trucks fitted with large 8m hi-ab cranes and when required a draw-bar which doubles bag capacity, whilst deliveries with access problems are delivered using a smaller four-wheel 7.5t truck with small hi-ab. Nationwide bag deliveries are made using an express pallet service, meaning that subject to access restrictions, we can normally undertake even the most difficult of deliveries quickly and efficiently. Please note that when a rear mounted moffett forklift is used to deliver, an access width of 2.6m (8’6”) is required whilst pallet deliveries are dropped kerbside.Our loose deliveries are generally made using an eight Wheel tipper, which carries up to 20t or 15/20m3 loose, whilst for smaller deliveries, or when access is tight, we deliver using a smaller four-wheel tipper, which carries up to 11t of loose material. When larger loads of bags or loose materials are required, we can, subject to access, deliver up to 30t of material using our own artic bulkers for loose loads or a flat-bed trailer for multi bag deliveries which carry up to 34 bulk bags. For large multi bag deliveries which require crane off-load, we offer a draw bar with 7mt hi-ab which can carry up to 30/32 bags.Further delivery information, including access, returns and next day deliveries, can be found on our website.

How to OrderWhilst we are always happy to talk to our customers, the quickest and easiest way to order any of our products is through our website, which is 100% secure, allowing you to order with complete confidence. We accept most debit and credit cards and there is a facility for you to request a smaller delivery vehicle and to leave detailed delivery notes when completing your order. Alternatively, for larger orders we can also accept BACS payment directly into our bank account. Please contact us for our bank details when a Pro-Forma invoice will be raised and sent. Accounts for larger trade and wholesale customers are available subject to prior approval.

We sell two types of structural tree sand, Heicom Tree Sand and our own ‘Bury Hill Structural Tree Sand’. Tree sand is a highly specified soil that is a vital planting medium for intensive urban environments and is used to support the successful planting of large and semi-mature trees, both in urban and rural locations. A special blend of selected sands, compost and fertilisers, which when compacted will support both the surface area around the root system as well as ensuring the healthy growth of the tree itself. When determining quantity, you should allow 1.6t to the m3 when compacted.

Lightweight Roofing ProductsOur range of Lightweight Roofing Products, also known as ‘Intensive Soils’, have been designed and blended for use when a lightweight planting medium is required for projects such as Roof Gardens and Balcony Planters. Designed to support a variety of planting schemes, our lightweight topsoil, subsoil and ericaceous topsoil, have all been modified with increased ratios of organic matter to boost nutrients and LECA, which substantially reduces the bulk density of the material, which is critical to reduce point loadings.

Bury Hill Colour SplashModern Flower Seed Mixtures Colour Splash is a new and exciting range of modern flower seed mixes specifically designed for Domestic, Amenity and General Landscape areas. Extremely easy to sow and germinate, ‘Colour Splash’ is available in a wide array of flower and colour mixtures. Available in eight (8) exciting colour and flower mixtures, each batch of seed is packed in sealed air tight 400 gram easy to open metal cans which covers between 200m2 and 300m2.

Bury Hill Traditional Wild flower TurfInstant Wildflower Meadows Wildflower turf allows for the creation of stunning wildflower areas and meadows virtually instantly. The flower seeds mix in the turf is carefully chosen to produce flowering plants from early in the spring through to the middle of the autumn.Once established Wildflower turf has the added advantage of requiring very little maintenance. It will not require fertilizing and only needs cutting in the autumn. Wildflower turf is cut the same as garden turf in 1m2 rolls.

Please note that it is important that wildflower seed is sown and turf is laid using a low fertility soil, which aids germination. Please refer to our Low Fertility soil.

Suitable for a wide range of applications, our self-binding limestone gravel is used extensively in and around residential gardens, country parks and estates, stately homes and golf courses. Whilst most decorative stones and gravels are dust free, self-binding gravels contain large percentages of dust together with varying sized gravels to 10mm, to help the self-binding process.
