October 18, 2015 Twenty-Ninth Sunday
in Ordinary Time “You do not know what you are asking.”
James and John are anxious to have more power with-
out worrying about how much it will cost them. They
ask for powerful positions without thinking about the
consequences. They end up without powerful posi-
tions but with suffering and death. We may not like to
admit it but most of us have a desire to be more im-
portant. To have the power to have things our way is
often at the enter of our motivation.
Jesus came into our world human just like us and di-
vine. Jesus came to earth as a man so that we might
learn how to think and act as God wants us to think
and act. Jesus took the law and the prophets and
summed these up in two commands: to love GOD and
love our neighbor. Jesus tells us that to be the servant
of all is to be great in GOD's kingdom. Jesus came to
show us all that GOD loves us and wants what is best
for us. As we work to help others GOD works to help
us. Trusting in God is not a simple thing and Jesus
never told us that our lives would be simple. All He
has asked us to do is to share GOD's love with our
neighbor and His Father will take care of the rest, to
love more without worrying about what it will cost us.

en Tiempo Ordinario “No saben lo que pidiendo.”
Jaime y Juan están ansiosos por tener mas poder sin
importarles cuanto les costara. Piden posiciones
poderosas sin pensar en las consecuencias. Terminan
con posiciones poderosas pero con sufrimiento y
muerte. Tal vez no nos gusta admitirlo pero la
mayoría de nosotros deseamos ser mas importantes.
Tener el poder de que las cosas sean a nuestra manera
es frecuentemente el centro de nuestra motivación.
Jesús vino al mundo humano como nosotros y divino.
Jesús vino a la tierra como hombre para que
aprendiéramos a pensar y actuar como Dios quería
que pensáramos y actuáramos. Jesús tomo la ley y a
los profetas y los resumió en dos comandos: Amar a
Dios y amar a tu prójimo. Jesús nos dice que ser
serviciales en todo es grandioso en el reino de Dios.
Jesús vino a mostrarnos a todos que Dios nos ama y
quiere lo mejor para nosotros. Mientras trabajamos en
ayudar a otros Dios trabaja para ayudarnos. Tener
confianza en Dios no era una cosa simple y Jesús
siempre nos dijo que nuestras vidas serian simples.
Todo lo que El nos pedía hacer era compartir el amor
de Dios con nuestro prójimo y Su Padre se encargaría
del resto, amar mas sin preocuparnos sobre lo que nos
costaría.
