Welcome to the
Lake Land
Church of Christ
We at the Lake Land Church of Christ are a non-denominational, independent congregation of the Lord’s people. We try our best to follow the New Testament design of governance and worship, which means we are an autonomous group whose allegiance lies with no one or any organization but Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Who is King of kings and Lord of Lords. We belong to Him because we are clothed in Him at baptism (Galatians 3:27) and it is through His blood that the church was purchased (Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 1:19), and the church is His alone (Matthew 16:18). We believe that in His infinite wisdom He has left the local congregation to be overseen by elders to watch over and guard the spiritual needs of the flock (1 Peter 5:1-2); deacons to assist the elders in seeing that its members are provided for (Acts 6; 1 Timothy 3); teachers to help the congregation grow spiritually and in wisdom (1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11) and a minister or evangelist to proclaim God’s word in season and out of season (Ephesians 4:11; 2 Timothy 4:2). If you are looking for a congregation that has no creed but only seeks to follow God’s word as it is written, but acknowledges our own human foibles and weaknesses, then you need look no further! We want you to be a part of our congregation! September 1, 2013
From the Preacher’s DeskTomorrow our nation will be celebrating Labor Day, a day set aside in which we can rest from our labors. Scripture shows the importance of obtaining rest for our

Thoughts for the Day:
“The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.”
-- Mark Twain
Sometimes the most urgent thing you can possibly do is take a
complete rest.Area-wide singing hosted by the Shelbyville
Church of Christ from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Saturday, October 26th.
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float
across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.
our bodies. God says in His Ten Commandments, 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. (Exodus 20:9-10 [NAS]) Rest is a necessity. As seen above, it is a Biblical principle that all creatures must rest. Without proper rest the human body will break down. I know I have had a good night’s rest when I wake up refreshed and rejuvenated. Take a look at what the Bible says about rest. God really stressed the importance of getting proper rest for He had Moses write again, this time in Exodus 23:12 [NAS], “Six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you shall cease from labor so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave, as well as your stranger, may refresh themselves.” Remember, proper rest is not slothfulness or laziness. It is God’s method for us to be refreshed in order to serve Him better!
Rest when you're weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your
spirit. Then get back to work.Congratulations to Gabe Henderson for making the Neoga Middle School Eco
team. Gabe had one of the top four test scores in school that qualified him to be
part of this 7th and 8th grade team!!Way to go, Gabe!
