One down…eleven to go! We are already one month into the New Year and have slipped into the routine of writing 2019 without thinking much about it. We are continuing our Ordinary Time but as a church in movement prepar-ing for the beginning of Lent on March 6th.
This Sunday, the first Sunday of the month we, at St. Lucy, continue our new tradition of blessing those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries dur-ing the month. It is a time of great joy and hopefulness as we see young and old stand to be blessed by God through the community.
The reality of blessing of course goes both ways…we who celebrate our special day during the month are being blessed….and we who raise our arms in blessing are in returned blessed by the presence of those celebrat-ing in our midst. It is a reminder that we, as community, celebrate together as both friend and stranger where Jesus invites us into a relationship of love and blessing in the abundance of his grace and peace.
On a second note, to update our Renewed in the Light Capital Campaign. We are progressing on many different levels. First and foremost, thank you to all those who have shared in their treasure in donating to the Campaign. You are in my daily prayers of thanksgiving. (Continued on page 5...)
Uno abajo ... ¡once mas! Ya paso un mes del Año Nuevo y nos hemos des-lizado en la rutina de escribir 2019 sin pensar. Continuamos con nuestro Tiempo Ordinario, pero como iglesia en movimiento preparándose para el inicio de la Cuaresma el 6 de marzo.
Este domingo, el primer domingo del mes, nosotros, en Santa Lucía, conti-nuamos nuestra nueva tradición de bendecir a los que celebran cumplea-ños y aniversarios durante el mes. Es momento de gran alegría y esperan-za, ya que vemos que jóvenes y viejos pueden ser bendecidos por Dios a través de la comunidad.
La realidad de la bendición, por supuesto, va en ambos sentidos ... los que celebramos nuestro día especial durante el mes estamos siendo bendeci-dos ... y los que levantamos nuestros brazos somos bendecidos por la pre-sencia de quienes celebran en nuestro medio. Es un recordatorio de que nosotros, como comunidad, celebramos juntos como amigos y como extra-ños donde Jesús nos invita a una relación de amor en la abundancia de su gracia y paz.
Segundo, una actualización de nuestra Campaña Renovado en Luz. Esta-mos progresando en muchos niveles diferentes. En primer lugar, gracias a todos aquellos que han compartido su tesoro al donar a la Campaña. Están en mis oraciones diarias. (Continua en la página 5…)

Hemos recibido la aprobación de la Diócesis para nuestro plan de iluminación para el edificio de la iglesia. Si mira hacia arriba, puede ver la necesidad y, aunque pronto reemplazaremos las bombillas quemadas, la gran mayoría de los accesorios que no funcionan están rotos. Una vez que recibamos el dibujo final del arquitecto, los presentaremos a la parroquia. Ha sido muy emocionante ver el trabajo en marcha y como el sueño de una parroquia más brillante y acogedora se está haciendo realidad.
El trabajo en la planificación de nuestros nuevos baños en el edificio de la escuela y la iglesia también están progresando bien. Debido a que el proyecto es más amplio y más complicado, está progresando un poco más lento, pero una vez más, una vez completado, será una gran bendición para nosotros y para las genera-ciones futuras que oran y aprenden en la Parroquia de Santa Lucia.
Como publicamos cada semana, hemos obtenido el 86% de nuestro objetivo para la campaña Renovado en la Luz con 606 familias participando ... hasta ahora. Sigo pidiéndole a los miembros de nuestra comunidad que no se han comprometido que, por favor, consideren en oración un obsequio este año o una promesa pa-ra los próximos años.
Una vez más, gracias por su continuo apoyo a nuestra comunidad parroquial y el trabajo de nuestra Iglesia Católica.

We have received the approval of the Diocese for our lighting plan for the church building. If you look up you can see the need and while we will soon be replacing the burnt out bulbs, the vast majority of the fixtures not working are broken. Once we receive the final drawing from the architect we will present them to the parish. It has been very exciting to see the work going on and how the dream of a brighter and more welcoming parish is coming to fruition.
The work in planning for our new bathrooms in the school building and church are also making good pro-gress. Because of the larger scope and more complicated nature of the project it is moving a little bit slower but once more it will, once completed, be a great blessing to us and to future generations worshiping and learning at St. Lucy Parish.
As we publish every week, we are at 86% of our goal for the Renewed in the Light campaign with 606 fami-lies participating in the project…so far. I continue to ask those in our community who have not given to please prayerfully consider a gift this year or a pledge over the next several years.
Once more thank you for your continued support of our parish community and the work of our Catholic Church.

CHILDREN RECEIVING THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION NIÑOS RECIBIENDO EL SACRAMENTO DE RECONCILIACION
Esta semana los niños en el segundo grado de la Escuela de Santa Lucía y los ni-ños en su segundo año en la catequesis parroquial están haciendo su Primera Confe-sión. El Sacramento de la Reconciliación es un Sacramento de Sanación en el cual nuestros pecados son perdonados y por el cual somos reconciliados con Dios y la Igle-sia. El Sacramento de la Reconciliación es un regalo de Dios para que cualquier pecado cometido después del Bautismo pueda ser perdonado. En la confesión tenemos la opor-tunidad de arrepentirnos y recuperar la gracia de la amistad con Dios. Es un momento santo en el cual nos ponemos en su presencia y reconocemos honestamente nuestros pecados. Con la absolución, somos reconciliados con Dios y con la Iglesia. Por favor oren por los 113 niños de la catequesis en Inglés y los 113 niños de la catequesis en Español que habrán experimentando el amor y la misericordia de nuestro Señor a través de su primera confesión.
This week the children in the second grade in St. Lucy School and the children in their second year in the parish catechesis are making their First Confession. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a Sacrament of Healing in which our sins are forgiven and in which we are reconciled with God and the Church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven. In confession we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in his presence and honestly acknowledge our sins. With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church. Please pray for the 113 children in the English catechesis and the 113 children in the Spanish catechesis who are experiencing the love and mercy of our Lord through their first confession.

Si eres una pareja que han decidido regularizar su estado matrimonial o gustas explorar más acerca del beneficio de recibir el sacramento del matrimonio habla con el Sr. Anto-nio Ojeda. Aquí se enlistan los siguientes requisitos para ser presentados antes del ma-trimonio. (Si es católico; deben tener sus tres sacramentos de Iniciación: Bautismo, Co-munión y Confirmación)
1. Certificado Bautismal: Original y reciente y valido por lo menos 6 meses antes del matrimonio, la pareja presentará el certificado de bautizo, y/o primera comunión y confirmación. Si uno de los novios no es católico, tendrá que pre-sentar una carta de afiliación a la religión que pertenece.
2. Testimonio Personal: Los novios llenarán esta forma; Testimonio del testigo: Generalmente esta forma es llenada por un familiar o conocido del novio y de la novia Forma de dispensación: En caso de que uno de los novios no sea católico, él/ella promete que los hijos serán bauti-zados y criados como católicos.
3. Licencia de Matrimonio: Deben obtener su Licencia Matrimonial (sino se han casado por el civil); por lo menos un mes antes de la fecha de la boda y deben presentarla el día del ensayo. Si la pareja quiere validar su matrimonio, entonces debe mostrar el certificado de matrimonio.
4. Certificado de preparación Matrimonial: Requisito de asistencia al retiro de preparación matrimo-nial el 25 de Mayo 2019 (solo por inscripción)

ST LUCY ALTAR SOCIETY
Happy Valentine's Day! On February 7th, The Altar Society will meet at 1pm. Please bring a Valentine to exchange with a friend. Something to remember "It's not what we have in our life, but who we have in our life that counts ". A good time of the year to remember our friends with a card. Come spend an enjoyable after-noon with The Altar Society, and have delicious desserts. All are welcome, and please bring a Valentine.
GIRL SCOUT COOKIE SALE
St. Lucy Girl Scout troops will be selling Girl Scout cookies the weekend of Feb 9-10 at the 5:15pm Sat Mass, and 9am, 11am, 1pm, 6pm and 7:30pm Masses. We have many selections of cookies and use the proceeds to fund service projects in our community, trips and meeting supplies. We also have the Care to Share pro-gram where customers can choose to purchase cookies to donate to our military overseas and the food pan-tries in our area. Thank you kindly for your support.!
First Wednesday Mass and Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help
Everyone is invited this coming Wednesday, February 6, to celebrate the First Wednesday Novena-Mass in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. On other Wednesdays, the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is observed at 6:30 PM preceded by the praying of the Holy Rosary at 6 PM. All are welcome.

MUSICIANS MASTER’S CLASS St. Lucy parishioners,
You are all invited on Friday February 8 at 7pm to a FREE concert in the St. Lucy church with ValLimar Jansen, Sarah Hart, and Rodolfo and Estella Garcia Lopez. The evening begins in the hall at 6:00pm with hospitality (light refreshments) and a chance to meet and greet the art-ists. Saturday is the Musicians Master Classes workshop that begins at 8:30 am in the hall with breakfast and classes begin at 9:00am. The workshop ends at 3:30pm. Registration is $45.00 with lunch included, $25.00 with no pre-ordered lunch. Every parish is allowed to scholarship one person.
