“1. Break my students into groups of four or five, each assigned a specific community job based on their chosen careers of interest/research.

2. Students in the group will have to create a verbal story-line about how the careers are interrelated.

3. Students will then line up their group from the beginning to end of their story-line and will join their group’s end career with the beginning career of another group.

4. Forming a large circle, the class will come up with ways that the “beginnings” and “ends” from separate groups can be related.

5. Afterwards, the students will go around the circle expressing how their careers relate to the careers of those students standing next to them or what other possibilities could be. This activity demonstrates the inner workings and necessity of all roles in a community.

23

K-12 Activity # 2: Community Connection

Goal: Analyze the interconnectedness and necessity of all roles in a community.
