The KUMC Auxiliary donated $10,000 to the university for their Murphy courtyard renovation project. The renovation began August 1, 2014, and phase one is now complete. The Auxiliary donation funds will be spent on a healing garden to be installed in phase two of the renovation plan, two iron park benches (one of which is pictured below on the right), and three trees (the plaque in front of one of our trees is below on the left). Phase two will begin as fundraising efforts permit. We will keep you posted on the progress. KUMC Auxiliary Programs 2014-2015This year the KUMC Auxiliary had four scheduled programs along with our annual Fall and Spring luncheons. The programs included a tour of the Kaufmann Gardens, the Holiday Social held at Tatsu's French Restaurant in Overland Park, the Valentine luncheon held at Season's 52 on the Plaza, and Trash or Treasure: An Overview of Hoarding, held at the Landon Center on Aging. The fall luncheon was held at Grand Street Cafe on the Plaza and the spring luncheon was held at the Milburn Country Club.KUMC Auxiliary programs and events are a great way to meet new people, reconnect with friends and become active in the KU Community.

KUMC Auxiliary MembershipThanks in part to all the hard work from our Membership Committee chair Dorothy McGhee, we are thrilled to welcome 15 new members to the KUMC Auxiliary this year, as well as two honorary members and one honorary membership. The first honorary member, Rosemary Schrepfer, is a long-time member of the Auxiliary. A retired obstetrician, she has been a member of the Garden Committee, Projects Committee and a Member at Large. She is also famous for her baked goods at our bazaars. The second honorary member, Marilyn Lucas, was Auxiliary president in 2001-02. Prior to that she was secretary for several years, in addition to serving as the treasurer and on several committees. She is instrumental in reserving the venue for our spring luncheon every year.An honorary membership was bestowed upon Joe Bast, who has been tirelessly working with Ann Nelson in the Auxiliary Garden over the past several years. All three were confirmed for their respective memberships during the spring luncheon in April. We would also like to remember those members we lost during the past year, Louise Redford and Gertie Hartman.
