Profile of the KING

Born as the second son of Shri Laxmi NarayanBiyani on 9th August, 1961.

In a typical joint Marwadi family.

Brought up in a extremely traditional manner.

Started his first business in “Stone Wash Fabric”. 

Later in 1985, his first retail shop named “Pantaloon”

started.

Married to Sangita Biyani.

He had two daughters named Ashni & Avni.

He did his schooling from Manav Mandir High School.

Graduation from HR College in Mumbai & completed

his Commerce Degree.

A course in Import & export of garments.Joined a Programme run by silk manufactures

association, Sasmira.

studied Advertisements, attended Marketing seminars &did a course in Marketing

He was the first one to introduce Disco Dandiya in

South Mumbai.

Historical Perspective

Right from childhood Kishore was a rational & insisted on logicalexplanations to his questions.

He strongly believed in himself from his childhood itself.

He had a very clear idea regarding his aim & goal of life.

Since, he was from a Rajasthani Marwadi family he knew some

policies of business.

As he grew up he tested his organizational skills & had immense

confidence in his abilities & ideas.

 He has a good experience in managing crowds.

He refused to join the Family Trade. He said, “ myfamily, like other entrepreneurs, were only preservers. I

believe & consider myself both THE CREATOR & THE

DESTROYER”. 

After finishing his graduation he first started his own

 business of „Stone Wash Fabric‟ to small shops &

garment manufactures.

He had lots of up & downs in his business life. But all of 

this contributed in the form of experience regarding

customers minds.

trousers named “Pantloon”. 

Pantaloon was changed to “Pantaloon Fashion” &

subsequently to “Pantaloon Retail” ,one of the

biggest listed retailers of the country, today.

Pantaloon group entered into modern retail.

First 3 BIG BAZAAR outlets were opened.

Key Findings 

Pantaloons is credited with launching many retail formats in valueand lifestyle retailing under some of the best known retailing brand

names in the country, including Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar,

Central, e-zone, and Home Town.

He would observe people, judge them and then accordingly

associate or dissociate from them.

He loves simplicity and doesn‟t demand for luxury.

Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 in the Services

Sector.

Lakshmipat Singhania - IIM Lucknow Young

Business Leader Award by Prime Minister, Dr.

Manmohan Singh in 2006.

He was also awarded the CNBC First

Generation Entrepreneur of the Year 2006.
