KARAS APPARATUS Workshops • Performances • Exhibitions Saburo Teshigawara's own unique space for creation, opened in July 2013. "APPARATUS" meaning that the space itself is an apparatus (tool, set) for creating and realizing Saburo Teshigawara's philosophy. A compact 3-floor space with a hall, rehearsal studio, and gallery, completely covered with dance mat. A duet danced in complete silence for 60 minutes. One starts to see the body clearer, and hear what the body is saying with a different dimension.

Excerpts of the music from Wagner’s opera “Tristan and Isolde” is edited into an original and unique dance piece. Continuously undulating music and body fill the space. Forever modulating melody arising, yet reaching nowhere. Such is impossible love and death. Saburo Teshigawara

SHE is a solo piece danced by Rihoko Sato, and directed by Saburo Teshigawara. Sato's unique and exceptional physicality and sensitivity has made her dance vocabulary grow beyond the dance method she has learned from Teshigawara. A completely new dimension of dance improvisation.
With Rihoko Sato Originally created the 20th of November 2009 at Kawasaki Art Center and adapted for Karas Apparatus in Ocotber 2016
