Title: VFR Done Right!

We’ve probably heard pilots say, “I like to fly VFR and just keep it simple.” But VFR can be fairly complex,

requiring flight planning and execution that is just as rigorous as IFR. This doesn’t mean it’s not

enjoyable; there is great satisfaction in accomplishing any flight in a professional manner—whether it’s

low altitude VFR or IFR in the flight levels. Join us in this WINGS-credit seminar as we share our

experiences and insights about VFR flight—done right!

Location: Bloomsburg Municipal Airport (N13)

What: FAASTeam Seminar

Date: 11 Aug.

Time: 6:30 PM

Location: N13 Conference Rm.

Presenter: H. Paul Shuch, PhD

Two heads may be better than one, but unless they work well together as a team the same does

not necessarily apply to two pilots. In this FAA Safety Team WINGS Award seminar, a longtime

flight instructor will invoke three case studies to demonstrate the good, the bad, and the ugly of

crew resource management

Recent visitors

enjoying the airport

From Lt, to Rt. Jamie, Ben, and Logan

enjoy an afternoon watching planes

taking off and landing as well as

watching all the cool equipment

working on the apron reconstruction.

Left and Above, Wilbur is a regular visitor to the airport with his

mother, Cheryl. He loves watching the planes. Recently Wilbur

mentioned to his mother that he wanted

to go see the “puppy in the big house.”

Of course, he was referring to Ms.

Peyton. Sadly, Ms. Peyton crossed the

Rainbow Bridge in late June. Our

Bloomsburg EAA Chapter 1641 plans to

create a Training Flight Scholarship for

young aspiring aviators in her memory.

Wilbur always looking skyward!

Jamie and Cheryl, thank you for your permission to use these photos of your handsome boys!

In Memory of Ms. Peyton

As many of you know, Ms. Peyton was diagnosed with a severe liver tumor a few weeks

ago. Regrettably, the prognosis was not good. On 21 June, Ms. Peyton passed peacefully under a shade

tree. She did not suffer. I know how much all of you loved having her at the airport, and believe me,

her favorite place to be was on duty at the airport as the Official Greeter. Thank you all for loving

her as much as I did. Her passing is everyone’s loss, not just mine. We were all very lucky to have her for

as long as we did.

Peyton was probably one of the few canines who understood the command “no fly zone,” referencing that she was permitted everywhere in the terminal building except the Conference Room.

Some of Peyton’s Favorite Things:

Above Rt. & Lower Lft: Therapy Dog visits to: Camp Victory, Hospitals, and many Nursing Homes.

Playing Keep Away with her favorite toy with anyone who would engage.

Chasing rabbits, squirrels, and deer. Any reason to chase something was a good reason!

But most of all she loved greeting each and everyone of you with a constant wag of her furry tail.
