The Day a Tiger Attack My Friend : The Day a Tiger Attack My Friend Orientation : Last year I went to visit my friend, Rozi in North Sumatra. We decided to go into the jungle for a little adventure. Evaluation : We left Rozi’s house ar six in the morning with two friends of him, Ahmad and Saiful. It was hot, but Rozi told me to wear shoes and trousers to protect me from snakes. In the jungle there was a lot wildlife, but we were trying to find big cats, especially tigers. However, it is unusual to find tiger in the afternoon because they sleep in the heat of the day.

Slide 6 : Complication : Then, in the distance we saw a tiger, and Rozi told me to be a very quite. We crept nearer and found a dead deer, still bleeding. This was the tiger’s lunch. Suddenly, I started to feel very frightened. Complication & Resolution : We heard the tiger a second before we saw it. It jumped out like a flash of lightning, one hundred kilos plus in weigh and two meters long. I looked into its eyes and face, and saw right down the animal’s throat. It

grabbed Rozi’s leg between its teeth, but I managed to pull Rozi away. Ahmad shouted at the tiger and made it go back into the grass by throwing the branch he was holding, so we quickly escaped to let the tiger eat its lunch. That night it was impossible to sleep

(eg.) Sangihe and Talaud : (eg.) Sangihe and Talaud Identification & Description The island on the very northern coast of Manado are Sangihe and Talaud. They seems to form a kind of bridge with the most southern islands of the Philippines. An Archipelago of 77 islands, Sangihe and Talaud, is not easy to reach, but a speedboat makes the journey from Manado in around six hours. Stay overnight and go back the next day. The administrative capital is Thuna located on the islands of Sangihe Besar. There are several hotels offering accommodations to travelers. There is also an old house of Dutch design with unknown age. Descriptions : To the south of Sangihe Besar, there is island of Siau which has a glorious 1800 meter volcanic peak known as Gunung Api Siau. This volcano offers the visitor good views but there aren’t any land transports to get to the peak. Visitors who are eager to reach its summit must have extra energy because is very challenging. The regions other main attractions are its completely virgin beaches. Unfortunately there are no scheduled boats to those northern island. The only option is chartering a boat. Of course its cost is rather expensive.

The controversy of Harmessing Solar Energy : The controversy of Harmessing Solar Energy Issue: We often hear about solar cars, solar heating and solar batteries. But will solar energy ever be a major source of energy society? Argument ‘for’ point Solar energy is cheaper than other fossil because we can get an abundant source from the sun Elaboration In sunny desert areas, 50% of the sun’s radiation that reach the ground could be used to produce electricity for business and industry, to provide heat, light and hot water for homes. Experimental solar ponds can also produce hot water to drive generators. Argumen ‘against’ point Unfortunately , we cant yet power our homes entirely on sunlight Elaboration Solar energy can only be used effectively in bright light. Its greatest potential. Therefore is in hot countries that have clear skies for most of the year. But, unfortunately most homes are nor always in the sunniest part of the world. Moreover, in order to harness solar power solar cells are needed to convert sunlight directly into electricity. Solar cells are very cheap to run, but relatively expensive to buy and many people cant afford them Conclusion Needless to say, solar energy is useful and non-pollution source of energy. Unfortunately, solar cells, the main device to harness the sun’s energy are still very expensive.

Deskripsi sebuah teks report dapat berupa simpulan umum misalnya tentang rumah sederhana dengan mendekripsikan ciri-ciri subyek tersebut sehingga layak dikategorikan rumah sederhana.Generic Structure: General Classification - DescriptionGeneral Classification berisi: Klasifikasi suatu fenomena (binatang, public places, tanaman, dll) yang akan didiskusikan/ dilaporkan secara umum .Description berisi: Gambaran dari fenomena yang akan didiskusikan seperti bagian – bagiannya, kebiasaan atau tingkah laku jika benda hidup, kegunaannya jika non natural.Contoh Teks Report:

The heart is the most important part of the body. It is the center of life. However, the heart is only as big as a closed hand.The heart is a muscle and it beats about seventy times per minute throughthout a person’s life.The heart pumps blood from your heart to all parts of your body. The heart is made up of four chambers or small “rooms”. The top chamber are called the right and left auriclesand the botttom chambers are the right and left ventricles.When blood enters the heart. When the heart contracts, it forces the blood to the lungs where the blood receives oxygen. It then goes to the left auricle. The heart contracts again, and the blood goes to the left ventricle and is then forced out into the body. The blood gathers carbon dioxide and returns to the heart, and the process begins again.

Dear students…

There are so many questions about Report. I’m going to to give you short explanation. hope you’ll understand easily.

Well, it’s absolutely different between REPORT text and Laporan dalam bahasa Indonesia. Report as one of the genres that we learn does not mean laporan in Indonesia. So, what is a report text? Report means a text which describe things in general. It’s a little bit different from descriptive text which describe specific thing. To tell the facts of the things described, the writer usually uses present simple tense. Kecuali bendanya sudah punah, seperti dinosaurus. Penulis atau pembicara akan menggunakan simple past tense jika benda yang diceritakan sudah punah, alias dah jadul. Report text contains the class or subclass of the topic described, and then followed by telling the shape, parts, behaviour, etc in details.

Kalian pasti pernah mendeskripsikan sesuatu, bisa berupa hewan, tumbuhan, benda, dan hal lain secara umum. Contoh nyata jika ada turis asing yang meminta kalian menjelaskan tentang karakteristik orang Indonesia, kalian pasti akan mendeskripsikan orang Indonesia secara umum bukan mendeskripsikan diri kamu sendiri tentunya. Atau dalam pelajaran Biologi, kalian biasanya mempelajari karakteristik hewan secara umum, baik itu kelasnya (classification) hingga mempelajari sifat-sifat hewan tersebut secara detail (description).

Dalam bahasa Indonesia kita mengenal teks deskripsi. Namun dalam pelajaran bahasa Inggris teks deskripsi dibedakan menjadi dua bagian, yaitu descriptive dan report.

Yang harus diingat adalah Report adalah jenis teks yang mendeskripsikan sesuatu secara umum. Beda dengan Descriptive yang mendeskripsikan sesuatu secara spesifik atau tertentu (alias cuma satu). Contoh: Ada dua teks tentang komputer yaitu “Computer” dan “My Own Computer”, kalau dilihat dari judulnya kedua teks tersebut beda jenis teksnya: Computer (Umum; jenis teksnya Report); My own computer (Khusus, kan cuma komputer saya, makanya jenis teksnya Descriptive).

For example:

For many years, many people believed that the cleverest animals after man were the chimpanzees. Now, however, there is proof that dolphins may be even cleverer than these big apes.

Although a dolphin lives in the sea it is not a fish. It is a mammal. It is in many ways, therefore, like a human being.

Dolphins have a simple language. They are able to talk to one another. It may be possible for man to learn how to talk to dolphins. But this will not be easy because dolphins cannot hear the kind of sounds man can make. If man wants to talk to dolphins, therefore, he will have to make a third language which both he and the dolphins can understand.

Dolphins are also very friendly toward man. They often follow ships. There are many stories about dolphins guiding ships through difficult and dangerous water.

Text di atas menjelaskan tentang dolphin secara umum. Di paragraf kedua tercantum jelas bahwa dolphin belongs to mammal. Ini menjelaskan bahwa dophin termasuk ke dalam kelas mamalia. Di paragraf ketiga dan selanjutnya menjelaskan tentang kebiasaan dari dolphin secara umum.

Contoh lain:

A razor is a tool which is found in nearly every bathroom. A man who has thick hair on his face may have to shave twice a day. It is a habit which can be dangerous. For many years, a razor was a handle with a long piece of steel which was sharp and flat at one end. These razors had a long open blade.

But today’s razors are safer and more convenient to use. The thing which makes today’s razor safe is that the blade is small thin sharp piece of steel. The person who invented razor blades was a man called King Gillette. He was a clever man who had many ideas for new inventions. He wanted to make a blade that was safe and which could be used several times. In 1891, he invented a new type of razor blade. It was short and it was held in a special handle. The sharp edge of the blade did not stick out very far. It was a razor which was safe to use. It was more difficult to cut yourself than with the older type of razor.

Gillette’s razor blade became popular. It was an invention which worked well and which everybody need because each blade only lasted 8 to 10 times. Gillette sold many of his new safety blades and soon became a millionaire.

Teks di atas menceritakan tentang benda mati yaitu razor. Di paragraf awal menggambarkan tentang suatu alat berupa razor secara umum. Di paragraf berikutnya menjelaskan tentang bagian dan bentuk dari razor.

It’s clear that both of the texts above describe things in general. Report teks biasanya kita temukan dalam buku-buku ilmiah, science khususnya.

Social Function:

Describe the way things are (for example: a man-made thing, animals, plants). The things must be a representative of their class.

Text organization/Generic Structure:

Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Jawa Tengah mengadakan Workshop MGMP SMP SSN Tingkat Provinsi Jawa Tengah Pada tanggal 23-25 Agustus 2010 untuk angkatan I dan II. Angkata III dan IV pada tanggal 27-29 Agustus 2010. Tempat pelaksanaan workshop di Balai Pelatihan Dikjur Semarang.

Dear students…

Have you ever been to Bali? How did you go there? How long did you stay there? What did you do there? Explain clearly.

Well, to tell your experience is the purpose of recount. Jadi, kalau kalian ingin menceritakan pengalaman kalian kalian bisa menggunakan teks recount. Recount adalah jenis teks yang menceritakan pengalaman seseorang, selain itu juga teks yang menceritakan biografi seseorang secara detail.Dalam recount ada tiga bagian penting. Yang pertama adalah Orientation, yaitu pendahuluan yang berupa pengenalan tokoh. Biasanya berupa who, when, and where (siapa, kapan, dan kapan suatu peristiwa terjadi. Yang kedua adalah event, yaitu kejadian atau peristiwa yang terjadi secara berurutan. Dan yang terkahir adalah Re-orientation, yaitu menjelaskan kesimpulan dari pengalaman yang diceritakan, apakah pengalaman tersebut menyedihkan, membahagiakan, atau mungkin menakutkan.

My Day at the Beach

(Orientaion)Last week my friend and I were bored after three weeks of holidays, so we rode our bikes to Smith Beach, which is only five kilometres from where I live. When we arrived at the beach, we were surprised to see there was hardly anyone there. After having a quick dip in the ocean, which was really cold, we realized one reason there were not many people there. It was also quite windy.

(Events)After we bought some hot chips at the takeaway store nearby, we rode our bikes down the beach for a while, on the hard, damp part of the sand. We had the wind behind us and, before we knew it, we were many miles down the beach. Before we made the long trip back, we decided to paddle our feet in the water for a while, and then sit down for a rest. While we were sitting on the beach, just chatting, it suddenly dawned on us that all the way back, we would be riding into the strong wind.

Salah satu teks yang mudah dibedakan dibandingkan teks lainnya adalah teks review. Dalam bahasa Indonesia kalian pasti pernah denger atau baca resensi buku, film, atau kaset. Nah, dalam bahasa Inggris kalian akan mempelajari juga resensi tersebut, cuma.. namanya diganti jadi review. Mudah kan? Yup.. review teks adalah teks yang membahas mengenai resensi baik buku, film, kaset, dan sebagainya.

Genre: ReviewSocial function: To criticize an art work or event for a public audience.Generic structure:1. Orientation ( background information on the text)2. Evaluation ( concluding statement : judgment, opinion, or recommendation. It can consist of more than one.3. Interpretative Recount ( summary of an art works including characters and plot).4. Evaluative summation: the last opinion consisting the appraisal or the punch line of the art works being criticized.

Contoh:Cinta (Dian Sastrowardoyo) is a beautiful, smart and confident seventeen year old. Born in a loving family, surrounded

Masih ingat teks procedure kan? Itu loh, teks yang membahas tentang resep masakan, tata cara pengoperasian suatu benda, atau aturan permainan. Trus.. apa ada hubungan antara teks procedure dengan teks explanation. Jawabnya pasti ada. Persamaannya yaitu keduanya membahas tentang cara-cara membuat sesuatu. Trus… Apa dong bedanya? Perbedaannya teks procedure lebih simple. Namun teks explanation lebih ilmiah.

Genre: ExplanationSocial function: To explain the process involved in the formation or working of natural or socio cultural phenomena.Generic structure:1. A general statement to position the reader2. A sequenced explanation of why or how something occurs.3. Closing

Almost everyone eats bread daily, especially for breakfast. Bread making is not a complicated task. You must have an oven, water, sugar, salt, flour and yeast. The basic ingredient is flour comes from wheat. There are two kinds of flour which is soft, and the hard one.Hard flour, made by Winter wheat, is better choice for making bread. Bread using hard flour produces better texture and taste. Luke warm water is added to the flour to make dough.Yeast is a microscopic organism, the size may not be impressive but it is capable of producing carbon dioxide. It is also easy to use. Powered yeast needs only be dissolved in water to be used instantly. Yeast works best in the presence of sugar and warmth.Besides, encouraging yeast to grow quickly in the dough, sugar is added to give flour to the bread. Salt is added for the same purpose, to make the bread taste nice. However, it has the reverse effect on yeast, unlike sugar. The next ingredient is oil, olive oil, com oil, peanut oil and butter. It is essential for making the bread tender. After mixing with all these ingredients, the flour are hard beaten before sent to the oven.

After you finish the first place of the bread, cook the other pieces. Now you have French toast!

Teks di atas menerangkan tata cara membuat roti panggang.

Well, kedua teks tersebut memang membahas tentang cara membuat roti. Namun kalau kalian perhatikan tata cara penulisannya berbeda. Teks yang pertama ditulis dengan menggunakan uraian kalimat yang disusun sedemikian ilmiah. Contohnya kalimat “Yeast is a microscopic organism, the size may not be impressive but it is capable of producing carbon dioxide” (dilihat dari kata-katanya, kesannya science banget kan..) Teks yang kedua ditulis dengan menggunakan kalimat perintah atau instruksi. Contohnya pada kalimat “After you read the recipe, put everything on the counter”.

Salah satu teks yang dipelajari di kelas X semester 1 adalah procedure. Kalian pasti punya barang-barang elektronik kan? Jika kalian amati, kalau kalian membeli handphone, pasti ada buku panduannya kan? Di dalam buku panduan tersebut berisi instruksi atau tata cara pengoperasian, contohnya: instruksi bagaimana mengirimkan pesan, megambil gambar, dan lain-lain. Kalian juga pernah membaca buku resep masakan kan? Nah, di dalam resep masakan ada petunjuk bagaimana cara memasak sesuatu. Contoh lainnya, dalam melakukan suatu permainan, pasti ada petunjuknya. Sekarang kalian sudah mengerti betapa seringnya kita menggunakan teks procedure dlam kegiatan sehari-hari. Oleh karena itu, kalian harus menguasai teks ini.

Dear student…

Pada semester sebelumnya kalian pasti sudah mengenal jenis teks analytical expostion, di semester ini kalian akan mempelajari jenis teks exposition yang lainnya, yaitu hortatory exposition. Teks hortatory exposition berisi tentang teks yang mengemukakan alasan-alasan dengan tujuan untuk membujuk pendengar atau pembaca agar mau mengikuti apa yang dikemukakan penulis. Dalam pelajaran bahasa Indonesia kita tentu sudah mengenal teks persuasi, yang sama isinya dengan teks hortatory.

Teks hortatory di awali dengan Thesis, yaitu menuliskan opini penulis tentang suatu masalah. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan argumen, yaitu alasan-alasan yang mendukung pendapat penulis. Terakhir, menuliskan saran atau nasihat.

Contoh Teks hortatory dalam bentuk surat:

Dear Editor,

We are writing to complain about ads on TV. There are so many ads, especially during our favourite programmes. We think they should be stopped for a number of reasons.First, ads are nuisance. They go on for a long time and there are so many. Sometimes there seems to be more ads than programmes.Second, ads are bad influence on people. They try to encourage people to buy unhealthy food like beer, soft drink, candy and chips. And they make people want things they do not really need and can not.Finally, the people who make ads have too much say in what programmes people watch. That is because they want to put all their ads on popular programs that a lot of people watch. Some programmes which are not so popular get stopped because they do not attract enough ads, even though those programmes may be someone’s favourite.For those reasons, we think TV station should stop showing ads. They interrupt programmes. They are bad influences on

Coba perhatikan teks di atas. Paragraf pertama berisi thesis, yang dilanjutkan dengan arguments (alasan) di paragraf 2, 3, dan 4. Paragraf ke 5 berisi tentang recommendation (saran). Isi dari paragraf terakhir inilah yang membedakan teks horatatory dan analytical.

Bingung cara membedakan teks analytical exposition dan hortatory exposition? Don’t worry it’s so easy. Study the followings ya…

Sebelum kita mengetahui perbedaan teks analytical dan hortatory, mari kita mengenal persamaan dari kedua teks ini. Teks exposition dibagi menjadi dua bagian yaitu analytical exposition dan hortatory exposition. Exposition adalah jenis teks yang berisi tentang argumen-argumen tentang suatu topik. Dalam menulis teks ini, penulis perlu mencari sumber informasi agar argumen yang dikemukakan cukup kuat untuk mempengaruhi pembaca atau pendengar.Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari kita bisa menemukan teks exposition dalam diskusi, pidato, iklan, surat, dsb. Contohnya, ada seorang teman yang merokok, kita bisa saja memberikan pendapat kita bahwa merokok itu tidak baik. So the thesis is “Smoking is not good for your health”. Kemudian kita akan memberikan alasan-alasan mengapa merokok itu tidak baik, so we tell the arguments that support our thesis. The social function of exposition is to persuade the reader or listener.

So the difference is…..Study the text organization of analytical exposition below.Ada 3 tahapan dalam teks analytical, yaitu:

1. Thesis, berisi tentang suatu pernyataan tentang permasalahan tertentu. Biasanya diawali dengan kalimat I personally think, In my opinion, I believe, dll.2. Arguments, berisi tentang alasan-alasan untuk medukung Thesis yang dikemukakan. Diawali dengan kata, atau f rase First, Second, Furthermore, In addition, The last, dll.3. Reiteration, berisi tentang simpulan dari Thesis, dan Arguments yang dikemukakan. Kata-kata yang digunakan biasanya In my conclusion, Based on the arguments above, dll

Perbedaan Analytical Exposition dan Hortatory Exposition terletak di paragraf terakhir. Dalam penulisan Hortatory juga ada 3 bagian, yaitu:

1. Thesis, berisi tentang suatu pernyataan tentang permasalahan tertentu. Biasanya diawali dengan kalimat I personally think, In my opinion, I believe, dll.2. Arguments, berisi tentang alasan-alasan untuk medukung Thesis yang dikemukakan. Diawali dengan kata, atau f rase First, Second, Furthermore, In addition, The last, dll.3. Recommendation, berisi tentang saran dari penulis atas Thesis dan Arguments yang dikemukakan. Biasanya ada kata-kata should, should not, ought to, ought not to, dll.

For example:

Text 1Smoking in restaurants

Smoking in restaurants is just not on. It must not be allowed because it is rude, harmful to others and dangerous for the smokers.Firstly, smoking in a restaurant is impolite. The smell of the smoke affects all people and can turn them off their food. People pay to taste good food and not to be put off by foul smelling smoke.Another reason smoking should not be allowed in restaurant is the harm it can do to others. Passive smoking that is breathing in smoke made by a smoker can lead to asthma attacks and even cancer.Finally, smoking is dangerous and a health risk to the smokers. Cigarettes cause heart and lung disease and people should not smoke anywhere, not just in restaurants.

Therefore, smoking in restaurants is impolite, harmful to others and a health risk to the smokers and should not be allowed in any restaurants.

Text 2Is it important to know what your kids are watching? Of course yes. Television can expose things you have tried to protect them from, especially violence, pornography, consumerism, etc.A study demonstrated that spending too much time on watching TV during the day or bedtime often causes bedtime disruption, stress, and short of sleep duration.Another research found that there is a significant relationship between the amount of time spent for watching television during adolescence and early adulthood, and the possibility of being aggressive.Meanwhile, many studies have identified a relationship between kids who watch TV a lot and being inactive and overweight.Considering some facts mentioned above, protect your children with the following tips:1. Limit television viewing to 1 – 2 hours each day2. Do not allow your children to have a TV set in their bedrooms3. Review the rating of TV shows that your children watch4. Watch television with your children and discuss what is happening the show

Kedua teks di atas hampir sama, perbedaannya hanya ada di paragraf terakhir. Coba perhatikan paragraf terakhir pada teks 1 yang hanya berisi simpulan tidak ada saran. Memang ada kata “shouldn’t be allowed in the restaurants”, namun itu bukan saran melainkan penguatan dari thesis. Perhatikan lagi thesisnya “It must be allowed because…” Bandingkan dengan paragraf terakhir pada teks kedua yang berisi saran melalui empat tips yang harus dilakukan to protect the children. Clear right?

Teks bergenre spoof berisi tentang cerita lucu. Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, you or your friends pasti suka mendengar cerita lucu, dalam bahasa Indonesia kita mengenal anekdot. Biasanya kita menemukan teks spoof di koran, atau dari cerita teman sendiri. Banyak siswa yang menyamakan cerita lucu dengan aktivitas yang bisa membuat orang tertawa seperti terpeleset di depan umum, salah kostum, dsb. Menurut saya aktivitas yang saya sebutkan terakhir adalah aktivitas yang memalukan bukan lucu. Lucu bukan berarti memalukan. Dalam membuat teks spoof, kalian harus bisa bermain kata-kata sehingga bisa menghasilkan suatu cerita lucu. I think spoof bisa diartikan sebagai suatu cerita yang unpredictable, dimana kejadian lucu itu sendiri disajikan hanya di akhir cerita. Beda tentu jika kita menonton film lawak yang dari awal sampai akhir menyajikan peristiwa yang lucu.

Spoof di awali dengan ORIENTATION, yaitu pengenalan tokoh, tempat, dan waktu. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan EVENT, yaitu urutan kejadian secara detail. Lalu di akhiri dengan TWIST, yaitu bagian terlucu.

Contoh:

Last week I took my five-year old son, Willy, to a musical instrument store in my hometown. I wanted to buy him a set of junior drum because his drum teacher advised me to buy him one. Willy likes listening to music very much. He also likes asking me everything he wants to know. Even his questions sometimes seem precocious for a boy of his age. He is very inquisitive.

We went there by car. On the way, we saw a policeman standing near a traffic light regulating the passing cars and other vehicles. He blew his whistle now and then.

Seeing the policeman blowing his whistle, Willy asked me at once, “Dad, why is the policeman using a whistle, not a drum?”

Hearing his unexpected question I answered reluctantly, “Because he is not Phil Collin!”

It’s a little bit difficult to convey a text in form of Report. Lumayan agak susah kalau minta siswa tampil di depan untuk menyampaikan teks dalam bentuk Report. To make it easier, I ask them to create Pw. Pointnya. Before they do their assignment, I ask them to find the data from internet. Setelah itu mulai deh menulis. Beda siswa, beda temanya. Biar lebih creative of course. Setelah menulis, trus di edit by teacher, then ask them to create Pw. Point at home. The next day, all students are able to convey a monolog in form of Report. Kalau lupa dikit, kan bisa liat di Pw. Pointnya. Gampang kan…

Dear students….

Kalian pasti sering beda pendapat dengan teman, kakak, atau bahkan dengan orang tua sendiri. Well, it’s okay to have different opinion. Dalam mengungkapkan pendapat, kalian pasti berusaha untuk meyakinkan lawan bicara agar mau mengikuti apa yang kalian inginkan. Makanya kalian juga akan memberikan argumen-argumen yang kuat untuk mendukung opini kalian sehingga lawan bicara bisa terpengaruh dan mengiyakan pendapat kalian.

Kasus di atas erat kaitannya dengan salah satu jenis teks yaitu Analytical Exposition. Analytical Exposition is one of the genre which presents arguments. Jadi, untuk membedakan teks Analytical Exposition dengan teks lainnya adalah di lihat dari isi dan tujuannya. The social function is to persuade by presenting arguments. Tujuannya adalah untuk membujuk pendengar atau pembaca sehingga mereka mau mengikuti keinginan kalian. Teks ini berisi tentang argumen atau alasan.

Jenis teks ini di awali dengan THESIS, yaitu pendapat kalian tentang suatu masalah. Biasanya di awali dengan kalimat I personally think, In my opinion, I believe, etc. Setelah kalian menuliskan thesis atau pendapat, kalian harus menuliskan ARGUMENTS, yaitu argumen-argumen atau alasan-alasan yang disertai dengan fakta dan bukti-bukti yang relevan sehingga pendengar atau pembaca terpengaruh dengan argumen yang kalian kemukakan. Biasanya dimulai dengan Firstly, Nest, Third, The last, etc. Untuk mengakhiri teks, kalian harus menuliskan REITERATION, yaitu simpulan dari thesis dan arguments yang telah kalian bicarakan sebelumnya. Kalian bisa mengungkapkannya melalui kalimat In my conclusion, To conclude, From the facts above, we can conclude that, etc.

Contoh:

I personally think learning English through music and songs can be very enjoyable. You can mix pleasure with learning

when you listen to a song and exploit the song as a means to your English progress. Some underlying reason can be drawn to support the idea why we use songs in language learning.

Firstly, “the song stuck in my head” Phenomenon (the echoing in our minds of the last song we heard after leaving a restaurant, shopping malls, etc) can be both enjoyable and sometimes unnerving. This phenomenon also seems to reinforce the idea that songs work on our short-and-long term memory.

Secondly, songs in general also use simple conversational language, with a lot of repetition, which is just what many learners look for sample text. The fact that they are effective makes them many times more motivating than other text. Although usually simple, some songs can be quite complex syntactically, lexically and poetically, and can be analyzed in the same way as any other literary sample.

Furthermore, song can be appropriated by listener for their own purpose. Most pop songs and probably many other types don’t have precise people, place or time reference.

In addition, songs are relaxing. They provide variety and fun, and encourage harmony within oneself and within one group. Little wonder they are important tools in sustaining culture, religion, patriotism and yeas, even revolution.

Last but not least, there are many learning activities we can do with songs such as studying grammar, practicing selective listening comprehension, translating songs, learning vocabulary, spelling and culture.

From the elaboration above, it can be concluded that learning through music and songs, learning English can be enjoyable and fun.

Coba perhatikan teks di atas. Kalian pasti sudah tau kan yang mana thesis, argument dan reiteration.

soo actually i have a bunch of stories that i want to tell you tp kayanya gue singkat2 aja ya:

1.i've graduated!!!yapp gue lulus dari smp labschool jakarta.msh gak rela buat masukkin ke kardus seragam putih biru gue.soalnya masih gajelas sma gue mau kemana.udh keterima di iibs tp gue gamau ngambil,semoga aja msh dapet di labschool :) aminn

2.i'm sick and tired living a lonely life like this -_-ya gue tau ini kesannya curhat bgt.tp gue capek sendirian trs,gue ngiri ngeliat temen2 gue yg lovelifenya pada membaik.gak kaya gue....stuck kaya gini sampe 8bln.etss tp bukan berarti gue mau balikan ya IT'S A BIG NO! hahah sumpah deh ^_^v

suka duka belajar Corel Draw (school task)

suka duka saya dalam belajar corel draw itu sangat banyak.khususnya pada saat sukanya.yaitu:

-menambah wawasan saya

-saya jadi bisa membuat poster,undangan,dll.

-saya bisa memanfaatkannya untung menghabiskan waktu luang

dan yang dukanya adalah:

-saya tidak punya software corel draw di laptop saya.

-pada tugas saya yang membuat undangan farewell gatau kenapa tiba-tiba filenya rusak dan saya tidak bisa memperbaikinya karena saya tidak punya corel draw

sekian suka dan  duka saya dalam belajar Corel Draw.

Haloo bloggers!hari ini saya mau mengerjakan tugas tik dari sekolah.yaitu membahas tentang plus minus ujian nasional.

segala sesuatu pasti ada sisi negatif dan sisi positifnya.begitu juga dengan ujian nasional ini.

pertama saya akan membahas tentang beberapa hal positifnya dulu:

1.pelajar menjadi termotivasi untuk belajar.karena nem yang bagus akan mempengaruhi sma yang akan mereka pilih (bagi yang ingin masuk ke sma negri)

2.kesadaran kita sebagai pelajar juga mulai akan timbul.karena kita tidak ingin mengecewakan orang tua kita yang sudah susah payah menyekolahkan kita.

3.pelajar juga akan dituntut untuk bisa mengatur waktu.karena materi uan sangat banyak dan waktu yang tersedia juga sangat sempit.apalagi uan dimajukan jadi maret :(

yang kedua, saya akan membahas tentang hal negatifnya:

1.pelajar akan merasa tertekan karena banyaknya materi uan.yaitu materi yang kita pelajari selama 3tahun.

2.pelajar akan menjadi mudah stress.karena selain uan pelajar2 selayaknya remaja biasa juga pasti memiliki masalah lainnya.

3.guru guru juga akan kelabakan membagi materi mana saja yang harus diajarkan.karena uan dimajukan menjadi maret.apalagi dengar2 taun depan ips juga menjadi materi uan.wah 4 pelajaran aja kita udah kelabakan gimana dengan 5pelajaran..

4.pelajar yang terlalu takut malah bisa jatuh sakit karena ada yang belajar sampai malam.bahkan ada yang sampai mengurangi waktu tidurnya.

dan yang terakhir saya mempunya beberapa pendapat tersendiri tentang uan:

-saya rasa adanya uan itu kurang adil.mengapa?bayangkan,kita sudah belajar selama 3taun.dan semakin lama pelajaran makin susah bukan?lalu hasil belajar 3taun itu hanya dilihat dari

test yang kurang dari satu minggu.dan saya yakin,gak semua materi yang kita pelajarin bakal keluar di 50soal itu.

-saya sendiri bingung,kenapa makin kesini uan makin dimajuin.emang ada sisi positifnya buat pemerintah?engga kan?yang ada hanya menambah beban pelajar2 saja.yaa tapi kita cuma

pelajar,mau ngomong gimana pun juga palingan gak ditanggepin.

sekian pendapat-pendapat saya.maaf kalau kata katanya kurang serius.mohon maklum saya masih smp(hehe).mohon doa ya semuanya supaya saya dan teman2 yang lainnya akan sukses melewati uan dengan hasil yang maksimal.amin!

one of my best saturday haha

heyheeey hari ini seru deeh.jadi gue berenang ke snowbay sama sara anes huahah.itu juga rencananya dadakaan banget.orang awalnya cuma mau berenang kerumahnya dilla eh tau2 dia pergi ke ps =_=.jadiiii ini dia kisahnya (jelas)

jadiii kemaren malem anes nyapa di msn ngajak berenang dirumahnya dilla.gue sih ayok2 aja hahah udah gitu awalnya dia songong mau jemput jam 9 =_= apa apaan lu neees.baru melek itu gua hahah akhirnya yaudah gue minta jam 10 aja.besokan paginyaa jam setengah 9 gue udah bangun nih.terus solat sarapan mandi siap2 jam 10 udah siap aja.pas gue buka twitter katanya anes mau pergi.wtff.terus tau2 gajadi pergi dia dan jadi berenang huft.gak sampe disitu aja tuh ngaconya,pas sara nelfon dilla katanya dilla lupa terus mau ke ps sama sodaranya O_o.hadoooh ribet deh.terus awalnya anes bilang arcici aje,ngahahah gila dasar.terus gue bilang ke snowbay aja yaudah deh akhirnya setuju ke snowbay.

setelah 1setengah jam gue nunggu mulai kesel nih gua mana coba si babon satu ini.gue telp gabisaa ol twitter kaga wallahualam deh gue mau dijemput jam berapa.tau2 setengah 1 baru nyampe dia ckck.teruuuus otw deh gue hahah dimobil ngegosip gitu deh si anes hahah gapenting deh skip ajeee.waaah pas sampe seneng nih kita.kan ngantri mau bayar tiket gt terus ada ibu2 kaya dapet bonus tiket gt terus ngmng 'dek bertiga aja kan?mau tiket yang 60rb gak?tante dpt diskon nih'waaa asik deh diskon 50%!!hahah heboh =_=pas berenang asu kacau nih wkwk.kacamatanya sara ilang sama gue hehe maaf ya saaaar.abis pas gue naik seluncuran gitu tau2 copot wkwk.yang kacau di kolam arus tuh gue sama anes sara ngahahah,dari ngejatohin anes dari bannya terus gelitikin dia.sangking brutalnya anes dia nendang leher gue coba sampe perih ckckc.terus kebiasaan nih sara,anak kecil diajakin ngobrol wakakak dikacangin lahh dia hahah.gila itu kita di kolam arus sampe satu jam lebih kali wahahah.ehiya terus gue iseng mau ngempesin bannya wkwkwk terus bisa masa huahah.abis ituuu kan kita laper nih yaudah beli makan iseng2 aja.kan awalnya udah beli hotdog terus masih laper,yaudah anes sendirian mesen cheeseburger.pas udah lama nunggu gue samperin

kan mas2nya terus dia bilang gini 'ooh yang ataas nama mba irma ya dek?'HAHAHAH kacau nih anes.irma kan ibunya sara ikawokaowk untung gak dipanggil pake mic gitu hauahuha.nahh udahan kan berenangnya terus kita mandi nih.wah kacau tuh kamar mandinya kan belakangnya bolong gt terus ada....ahahah gak ah gak berani cerita disini wkwk.

abis dari situuuu kita ke ps deh mau makan hohoho,pas nyampe lgs nyariin atm buat sara terus cabut ke foodcourt wahah.eeh pas di ps ketemu ghia,temen sd gue sama temen homestaynya anes huahah.pas di foodcourt juga ketemu dilla wehehey.terus ngobrol2 gitu bentar abis itu kita ke cold stone beli eskrim hahah.abis ituuu kita ke sogo ke tempat anak2 gitu wkwk ngapain deh jelas bener,terus muter2 gapenting gitu deh.gara2 nyokap gue udah nelfon2 yaudah gue pulang sama anes.kalo sara ada nyokapnya di ps.ehhh masa ya katanya dia ketemu vania inong =_= wkwk gimane sihhh.

heyhey hari ini seru loooh ahahah.tadi gue ke senayan dong sama sara anes hahah seru deh heboh =_=.kan kita rencananya mau nonton baseball jam 8 kan.gue sih jam setengah 8 udh otw senayan.terus pas gue lg siap2 gue nelfon sara nih

teruss gue udh yakin2 aja nih dia udh mau berangkat ke senayan.jalan tuh gue.ngah gatau ya skr gue tuh kalo nyender dimobil bawaannya mereem mulu.tadi aja udh merem2 lagi gue bahaha.pas gue udh nyampe gue sms sara kan tau2 dia bilang

'baru sampe percetakan negara nih hehe.abis tadi gue baru ngeh mandi jam setengah 8 terus anes baru jemput pas lo nelfon tadi itu.kacau dah'

beeh tau gitu nungguin dia dulu dah gua =_= hahah.jadi lagi2 gue ngantuk nungguin sara anes hahahah kacauu.naah nyampe kan mereka terus kita masuk nih.si anes gendeng dia heboh sendiri tuh awalnya cuma make legging hahaha sekseh dah lu nes.teruss sampe di lapangan udah ada japut,dito,sama acha.walah kirain gue rame gituya yang nonton tau2 cuma segitu ahahah.terus kan labschool lawan semabel tuh.dan tau2 gue sama sara ngeliat pelatihnya semabel tuh coachnya gue sama sara juga.sangarrrr hahahah emang galak gitusih orangnya.terus kocak deh kan emang biasanya sebelum mukul gitu kan pasti badan pemukulnya goyang2 gitu tapi si deca lebay bener wakakak sampe kaya orang joget gt hahahh ngakak gua.teruuus labschool menang dooong yeeeey hahahah.gatau gue skornya berapa tapi emang menang sih terus besokannya labschool lawan tarlim.goodluck ya semuaa!maaf gabisa ntn kalo besok,minta digebuk bener senennya udah uts.

teruuus abis itu kita ke ps nih mau makan sushi tei.dasar gila ngapain coba jam 10 ke ps.masih dikunci gitu =_=,akhirnya kita ntn bentar gitukan terus dibukain deh.tapi ya teteplah masih pada tutup semua terus akhirnya kita duduk di food court aja sambil ngobrol2 terus gue minjem iphonenya sara buat ngetweet mehehe gamodal abis.nah ada yang ajaib nih kan sara apa gue gitu lagi iseng moto2in anes terus tau2 dia berpose kaya gini

Chameleons

There are 80 different types of chameleons in the world, most of which are to be found in Africa, South of the Sahara desert. The common chameleon ranges from the middle East, along the North African coast to Southern Spain.

The chameleon is a slow-moving lizard which hunts for insects among trees and undergrowth. One of its peculiar features is its eyes, which are  set in two conical sockets and can move independently of one another. This enable the chameleon to look behind with one eye and in front with the other.

Panda

Suddenly, her friends asked her to jump on the fire. Of course she refused it because one thing that made her afraid was the fire. It’s because Snow Maiden was made of snow, so she should avoid the fire. But her friends kept on forcing her to jump on.Finally, she could not do anything, andd then she did it. She jumped on the fire and as result she melted. Her friends were sorry about this, they cried and cried hoping Snow Maiden could live again, but it was useless. Snow Maiden would not be back anymore.Her mother tried to entertain Snow Maiden’s friends and asked them to make a new Snow Maiden again. They went to a snow mountain and started making it. They expected to have the new Snow Maiden. Days passed but their dreams never came true. Poor them!

The Prince and Princess

There once was a prince who wanted to marry a princess, but it had to be a real princess. So he went all over the world looking for a real princess. Everywhere he met young ladies who told him they were real princesses, but he could never be completely sure that this was true. There was always something about them that did not seem quite right. And so, after along time, the prince went back home to his parents and was very sad.One evening there was a terrible storm. It rained heavily and there was thunder and lightning in the sky above the royal castle. Then there was a knock at the castle gate. The old king went out to see who it could be.A princess was standing outside the gate. The rain ran down over her hair and clothes and into her shoes. She told the king that she was a real princess, and he asked her to come inside.“Well, said the old queen. We’ll soon find out if that is true. She went into the guest bedroom and took the mattress and blanket off the bed. Then she put a little green pea on the bed. She put twenty mattress on top of the pea, and then twenty blankets on top of the mattress. This was where the princess was going to spend the night.The next morning the queen asked the princess how she had slept.“Oh, it was terrible!” answered the princess. “I didn’t close my eyes all night. I don’t know what was in my bed, but I lay on something hard, and now I am black and blue all over. It was quite a terrible night”Now, the king, the queen and the prince could be sure that this was a real princess! She had felt the little pea through twenty mattresses and twenty blankets. Only a real princess will be able to do that!So the prince married the princess, and the pea was put in a museum for everyone to see. And, unless someone has taken it, it is still there today.

Minta opini dong... Aku mau ujian praktek bhs inggris kLz 9..?Erm, jadi untuk ujian praktek, aku harus presentasi salah satu jenis text, pilihanny report, recount, ato narrative. Aku bole milih apa aja.

Yang jadi pertanyaanku, apapun text yang aku pilih, habis say "hello gud morning", apa aku harus langsung to the point ke text yang aku pilih, atau pake basa-basi dulu?

Kira-kira, sebelum aku nyampein text aku, aku harus ngomong apa?Selain nama, no urut, n kelas maksudku...

perlukah nyapa dulu smacem "how r u today?", dll??

Saya rasa kata2 pembuka ataupun basa-basi tidak perlu dibuat...

Jenis text semisal report, recount, ataupun narrative tidak perlu menggunakan seperti itu. Langsung saja..kecuali textnya seperti explanation, ataupun yang bersifat ajakan (persuade)

1.Recount, menceritakan masa lampau,pengalaman yang terjadi,dsb.

2.Narrative, Text yang gak bener/fiksi/hayalan seseorang/ dongeng.

3.Report, Text yang menceritkan atw menjelaskan tentang sesuatu,misal tv,banyak ditonton,isinya ada film,musik,dsb

langsung sajaJudul --> isi jangan lupa tentunya memperhatikan ketentuan sesuai bentuk teks yang kamu pilih.

My name is Paul. I have a younger sister named Josie. Even though I am the older brother and she's the younger sister, Josie was always a head taller, and a good 40 pounds heavier than me when we were growing up. I hated that. I was the big brother. I was supposed to be dominant and protective. But while she was the biggest kid in school, I was nearly the smallest. <-- orientation

Josie's size and strength only made my lack of those two qualities more apparent. I was two years ahead of her in school, which meant that by the time she got to middle school I was already an 8th grader. Kids in middle school are not kind or accepting, and over the years they had continually made fun of my puny size and lack of athletic ability. But the teasing reached a whole new level when Josie entered middle school. Now they had a new angle for tormenting me. <-- conflict

They would taunt, "Hey Shrimp! Your sister still beat you up?" Or, they would chant again and again on the bus, "Paul, Paul, he's so small, but his sister's ten feet tall!" I guess that rhyme was hurtful to both of us, but I only felt my own humiliation. It still baffles me that I took no notice of my sister's feelings. The times when the jokes centered around her, like when they called her "Josie the Giant," it was such a relief not to be their target that I did nothing to stop them. Nothing seemed to bother Josie anyway. I never heard her complain or so much as saw her wince. I just assumed that her interior was a steely as her exterior.

That was until the day she snapped.

Conflict2There was a new girl, Ginny, in Josie's class who wore really thick glasses, and without them, was nearly blind. She, to my relief, had temporarily become the butt of jokes and pranks. The latest chant that the kids had come up with was, "Ginny, Ginny, short and fat, squinty-eyed and blind as a bat!" In all fairness, Ginny wasn't fat at all, but the kids chanted that because it rhymed with bat. I think they were so mean. Josie and I felt sorry for her and tried to cheer her up. The three of us has become friends.

Climax of the conflict / storyIt started as a normal lunch break, with Josie and Ginny standing together in line. Suddenly, Tommy Pederson ran up behind Ginny and snatched her glasses off her face. Everyone began the chant as they carelessly tossed her glasses down the line. I watched Josie's face as it was happening. There seemed to be an anger beyond normal 6th grade capacity brewing behind her eyes. Tommy Pederson had gotten the glasses back and was waving them around in the air. That's when it happened. With one hand Josie grabbed the glasses from him and with the other she punched him in the face. She hit him with such force that he fell over. Everyone froze in shock for a second until Tommy screamed "Get her!" There must have been 15 different students who rushed toward Josie. She held the glasses up as if to protect them and looked panicked until she made eye contact with me. "Josie! Here!" I screamed, gesturing that she throw me the glasses. She tossed the glasses to me, and miraculously, I caught them. She then faced the students who were rushing toward her. She skillfully defended herself by knocking them down one at a time as they approached her. She stopped fighting only when no one else dared move toward her.

I brought the glasses over and handed them to Tommy as he was picking himself up off the floor, humiliated. "Say you're sorry and give Ginny back her glasses," I told him. He said nothing. Josie slowly walked over and punched him in the stomach. He doubled over gasping for breath. "Say you're sorry and give her back her glasses," she repeated as she dragged him over to Ginny. "S-s-sorry," stammered Tommy as he handed her the glasses. Ginny took them, her eyes round with shock.

ResolutionAt that point, someone started clapping. It was quiet at first, then almost everyone joined in. Everyone except the kids that she had beat up. They sat in stunned silence, knowing that this day marked a change for us all. Since then, nobody has made a joke about us anymore.
