Industrial visit report of PERD Centre and Emcure Pharmaceutical Private Limited,

Ahmedabad organized for M.Pharm students on 22nd October 2019.

Industrial visit was organized for M.Pharm and Ms.C. students at PERD Centre and Emcure

Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, Ahmedabad on 22nd October 2019. Visit was organized by Dr.

Geeta Patel and Dr. Dipti Patel. Total 40 students visited both the research centre.

At 8:15 am. on 22nd October 2019 students departed from Mehsana for visit. They reached at

B.V Patel pharmaceutical education and research development centre around 10:30 am., where

Dr.Kamla Vasu, Head of Pharmaceutical Chemistry department had welcomed to the students

and faculties and gave an outline of the institute and the programs that they conduct at the centre.

B.V.Patel PERD have 6 different departments namely, Analytical, pharmacognosy and

phytochemical, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry and microbiology. Dr.Sonal

took students through all the departments for better understanding of instruments. She gave brief

overview of working principles of various instruments of analytical laboratory such as LC-MS,

IR Spectrometer, Fluorescent Spectra, DSC, Automated HPTLC, Automated and preparative and

semi preparative HPLC, Flash Chromatography etc. Then the students were taken to

pharmacognosy department. After that students were taken to pharmaceutics department where

Dr. Viral explained them about all the industrial instruments like Bilayer Punching Machine,

FBD, extruder, Spheronizer, Dissolution apparatus, spray dryer, Particle size analyzer. After that

students visited pharmacology department deals with working on toxicology studies on animal

models. In medicinal chemistry department live demonstration for the synthesis of compounds

was given by Dr. Vasanta. Lastly students visited microbiology department and bio incubator

centre. After visiting through all the departments Dr. Geeta Patel and Dr. Dipti Patel thanked to

Dr. Kamala Vasu mam for their kind cooperation and courteous staff.

After visiting PERD centre students enjoyed lunch. The students headed to Emcure

pharmaceuticals Private Limited at 2.30 pm., where Dr Nilesh and Dr KP lead students to

different departments of Emcure pharmaceuticals such as ADL and FDL. Dr Nilesh took

students to analytical laboratory rooms where different apparatus such as Dissolution tester,

HPLC room & UPLC, auto titratiors, orbital shaker, IR Spectrophotometer, DSC, flask shaker,

gas chromatography etc were demostared. Dr KP lead students to formulation area where he

gave a brief session on different instruments such as compression machine, colloidal mill,

coating machine, FBD and warehouse areas. We thanked to Jwalant Pandya, H R Manager and

Munish Buch, Manager of the company for their kind support. We interacted many alumni of our

college working in Emcure. We had a very nice interaction with them. Students had the real

exposer of research knowledge and better understanding of principles and working of various hi-

tech machines and instruments.
