Serving the Community since 1985
Presidents Report Lawn bowls were the order of the day last Thursday evening. The weather was good, the facilities were in great shape, as were some of the bowlers, and the fellowship was palpable. We were joined by a contingent of Black Rock Bowls Club members for dinner. For a while there it seemed that we were on a mutual membership drive! Thanks to David Langworthy for organizing the night and congratulations to Lynda Doutch on winning the Beaumaris Rotary Perpetual Bowling Trophy. Together with Ken Mirams in his role as Assistant Governor, I attended the Club Presidents’ Meeting last Friday. It was more of a status report on existing initiatives rather than anything new. Two of the more critical issues referenced were the Dis-trict Youth Policy and its flow-on impact on new Rotarians. We are planning a club meeting in April to explain these issues, so more then. At the Meeting, it was announced that the District still had grant money available this year awaiting suitable projects. And for next year District would like notice of any potential applica-tions by the end of May. David Alexander won the ballot to be the District 9810 representative on the next Council on Legisla-tion to be held in 2019. Members or clubs who would like to put up a resolution for the next council need to have a draft with David by the end of June. On the journey home from the Meeting we shared the car with PDG Bob Richards from the Sandringham club. Bob and his wife Jill recently returned from India where they took part in the National Immunisation Day. On the 29th January, over 170 million (this is not a typo!) children under the age of 5 were immunized. A staggering statistic and one of which Rotary can be justifiably proud. Whilst India has been proclaimed polio free, there is an ongoing threat from over the border in Paki-stan and Afghanistan, both of whom still have a handful of cas-es. The Beaumaris Life Saving club is holding a 60th Birthday cel-ebration on Saturday 25 February between 12 and 4pm. And then on the afternoon of Sunday 5 March the BLSC is holding its Annual Nippers Carnival. The Board has agreed to again support the BLSC by donating $1,000 to purchase tee-shirts

for the nippers, of which there over 150 this year (Nippers are junior lifesavers between the ages of 5 and 13). Please give me a call if you would like to represent Beau-maris Rotary at either of these events and I will send you more details. Our meeting this coming Thursday is a Club Forum. This is your opportunity to hear what the club has been doing, what events are coming up, to question the club leaders, and offer suggestions on how we could do better. See you there.

Photos from Fellowship Event
There were so many great photos taken on the even-
ing it was impossible to know when to stop.
So rather than fill up In Gear I have decided to use it
as a spur to recruit more Members and Partners to
view them all on our on line Google Drive site. Cur-rently there are 188 folks sharing all the photos from
our various Beaumaris Rotary events.
See the next page for instructions on how to join them.
Alternatively, You can give people a link to your fold-
er so that you don't have to add email addresses
when you share your folder.
So if you do not want to be part of Google’s evil empire you can just be given a link which will allow you access to the relevant folders.
A select number of Members have editorial access to all the Folders as part of our risk management planning.
All Club Members and Partners can have View only ac-cess to elected folders on request.
So if you want to access the Current
Year photo folders please email me at:
Let me know if you have a Google
account (use the associated email address for the email) or, alternatively,
let me know if you want me to send you
a link to the folder.

It has two sec-tions one for Current activities and one for Archived mate-rial (dating from about 2012). It includes all the photos taken at Beaumaris Rotary events.
The folders currently contain 55GB of data!
The folders in Google Drive can be shared with anyone we chose.
