~ Matthew 18:19

SPECIAL COLLECTION This weekend, September 9 & 10, we will be taking up a second collection for relief efforts for the people of the Gulf Coast. We join our efforts with many thousands of Catholics around the country who are being asked to demonstrate that those impacted by the storm are not forgotten. We are called by faith to bring hope to those in need. This is an immediate opportunity to thank God for the many blessings he has bestowed on us by sharing our blessings with others less fortunate. Thank you for your support and generosity.

OFFICE HOURS New office hours will be starting September 11. The office will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 8:00-3:00 PM and Wednesday, 8:00 am-7:00 PM. The office will be closed Fridays.

WINCHENDON PUBLIC SCHOOLS SHOE COLLECTION DRIVE

WPS Extended Day Program is conducting a shoe collection drive starting September 1 until November 30 to raise funds for afterschool programs. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used or new shoes. There will be a collection box placed in the back of the church and many other areas around town. In 2015, Pope Francis made a historic trip to the United States. A Catholic archdiocese partnered with Funds2Orgs for this unique fundraiser that was supported by the entire archdiocese. The check issued to the archdiocese for the shoes went to support a small group of pilgrims that walked for 8 days, 104 miles, to join in the events in celebration of the visit of Pope Francis. The remainder of the money was designated by the archbishop for charitable purposes, including education. By donating shoes to this worthy cause, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives.

CHILDREN’S LITURGIES Beginning in October, we will have monthly Chil-dren’s Liturgies at the 9:30 Mass. This means that after the Introductory Rites, any youngster who wishes to participate, will leave with teachers to go downstairs to the hall library to hear the Liturgy of the Word, including a homily for children. They will return upstairs to the church during the collec-tion. Parents are welcome to accompany their chil-dren. The dates for this so far are October 8, No-vember 12, and December 10. An announcement will be made from the altar when it is time for any interested children to leave. Any questions can be directed to Mary Laflamme at 978-297-0280.
