PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE Two travelers have just arrived at the inn
in a small town
when a great fire was raging nearby. One of them se led into his
room, saying, “It’s not my business.” The other man ran into the
flames and was able to save much goods, as well as several
lives.
When he came back, his travel companion asked him, “Who asked
you to risk your life in other people’s business?” “The One who
told me to sow seeds that may one day bear fruits,” replied the
brave man.
“What if you yourself had been buried in the ruins?” retorted
the first man. “Then I myself would have been the seed,” said the
second.
Dear Agathians: While our church
and office were closed because
of the
pandemic, I had much me to
pray and reflect. The more
I thought about it, the more
it became clear to me that
our parish suffers from a major case of selfishness.
It is selfish
to keep using our parish’s
goods and
services without any thoughts about those who will come a
er us. It is selfish to abuse our parish’s property to the point of disrepair without
any regards for those who will
have to clean and fix them.
It is selfish to
care only about our own programs
and possessions while the parish
struggles to maintain
its mission and purpose. It is selfish to build up our own groups while the parish
community keeps falling apart.
It is selfish to bring
in outsiders to increase our own
ministry’s membership
while failing to minister to those who live within our parish bounda‐ries.
It is selfish to
compete with one another and with
the parish itself.
If we have learned our
lesson from this pandemic,
we would have realized how flee
ng are human
possessions, achievements, and even life itself! Everything could be gone in an
instant,
caused by an unknown, unseen, untouchable, and uncontrollable virus!
As we celebrate Labor Day
this weekend, let us keep
in mind the words of Psalm
127:1, “Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain
who build. Unless the Lord guard the city, in vain does the guard
keep watch.” With God as
our builder and protector, let us selflessly sow the seeds of love in all we do, so that our labors may bear good fruits.

PERSPECTIVA del PÁRROCO Dos viajeros acaban de llegar a la
posada en una
pequeña ciudad cuando un gran incendio estaba arrasando cerca.
Uno de ellos se instaló en su habitación, diciendo: “No es asunto
mío.” El otro hombre corrió hacia las llamas y fue capaz de salvar
muchos bienes, así como varias vidas.

Queridos Agatinos: Mientras nuestra iglesia y nuestra o icina
estaban
cerradas debido a la pandemia, tuve mucho tiempo para orar y re
lexionar. Cuanto más lo pensaba, más me quedó claro que nuestra
parroquia sufre de un gran caso de egoísmo.
Es egoıśta seguir usando los bienes y servicios de nuestra
parroquia sin pensar en aquellos que vendrán después de nosotros.
Es egoıśta abusar de la propiedad de nuestra parroquia hasta el
punto de mal estado sin ninguna consideración para aquellos que
tendrán que limpiarlos y arreglarlos. Es egoıśta preocuparse
sólo por nuestros propios programas y posesiones, mientras que la
parroquia lucha por mantener su misión y propósito. Es egoıśta
construir nuestros propios grupos mientras la comunidad parroquial
sigue desmoronándose. Es egoıśta traer a los forasteros para
aumentar la membresıá de nuestro propio ministerio mientras no
ministramos a aquellos que viven dentro de nuestros lıḿites
parroquiales. Es egoı́sta competir entre sı ́y con la propia
parroquia.
Si hubiéramos aprendido la lección de esta pandemia, nos
habrıámos dado cuenta de lo fugaces que son las posesiones
humanas, los logros e incluso la vida misma. ¡Todo podrıá
desaparecer en un instante, causado por un virus desconocido,
invisible, intocable e incontrolable!
Al celebrar el Día del Trabajo este in de semana, tengamos
presentes las palabras de Salmos 127,1: “A menos que el Señor
construya la casa, trabajen en vano quienes construyen. A menos que
el Señor proteja la ciudad, en vano el guardia vigila.” Con Dios
como nuestro constructor y protector, sembramos desinteresadamente
las semillas del amor en todo lo que hacemos, para que nuestras
labores den buenos frutos.

当我们的教堂和堂区办公室因为疫情关闭时，我
有很多时间祈祷和反思。我思考的越多，就越清楚看
到我们堂区患有严重的自私症。
持续使用堂区的物品和服务，而从不考虑我们之
后的人们是自私的；滥用我们堂区的财产导致破损，
而不考虑那些必须要清洁和修理的人是自私的；当堂
区奋力保持它的使命及宗旨时，只关心我们自己的项
目和财产是自私的；在堂区逐渐瓦解时，只建立自己
的团体是自私的；招收外人来增加我们自己的成员人
数，而未能服务我们堂区内的人是自私的；彼此竞争
以及和堂区竞争是自私的。
如果我们从这次疫情学到了教训，我们就会意识
到人类财产、成就乃至生命本身是多么短暂！一切都
可能因为一个未知、不可见、不能触碰、和无法控制
的病毒而瞬间消失！

节时，让我们记
得圣咏127第一
节的话：“若不
是 上 主 兴 工 建屋，建筑的人是徒然劳苦；若不
