This will help fund the manager and 6 full time positions locally ensuring a vital community service is funded from now up to 2018. Many community groups will benefit from this ongoing funding and it also supports workers in the crèche, Clanna Gael Fontenoy, the Spellman Centre, and will help with the upkeep of the parish church. RICCY’S YOUTH CAFÉ IRISHTOWN Kevin previously secured 50,000 seed funding for the development of a Youth Café for Ringsend/Irishtown which will officially open on 24th September. The fantastic design by Studio Red architects on behalf of Ringsend & Irishtown Community Centre is a great addition to the community. There are two full time youth workers supporting local young people who use the service, offering a range of services and programmes, from homework clubs, to drug awareness, one to one support and café evenings. I want to complement the staff, management and board of RICC for developing this facility for young people. IRISHTOWN TRACK UP & RUNNING A grant of 125,000 was secured in 2013 for the refurbishment of the running track in Irishtown stadium through the Sports Capital Grant Scheme. Along with funding from Dublin City Council this paid for resurfacing works. The work took place over recent months and a great facility is now available for local sports clubs again. Irishtown Stadium also boasts a fully equipped gym (which was refurbished and extended last year) along with a range of other facilities. Short term membership and pay as you options are available along with free entry to a number of adult fitness classes.
