Ballarino Tests on HTS insert coils for FP7 Phase 1 ( ): Test of strands and cables at 4.2 K and in external field (short samples -up to 1 m) Critical current; Contact resistance Specification: 7 T in a background field of 13 T TOT = about 50 tests Phase 2 (2014): Test of insert coil not included in FP7 Bi-2212 and YBCO conductors Tests on HTS stacks for HTS leads Bi-2223 conductor Test of HTS stacks at liquid nitrogen temperature for integration in HTS leads (spare leads or new requirements, i.e. construction of new components) Ic measurements as for series of stacks in LHC HTS current leads Review of superconductors and magnet laboratories, A. Ballarino Test station for LHC HTS current leads: besides the need for test of spares, we should have at CERN a test facility for testing HTS current leads of the LHC type (more than 3000 leads in the tunnel, of which about 1000 are HTS).
