Name: Lillian Kleinpeter

Hometown: Baton Rouge, LA

College: LSU-Early Childhood Education

What do you do in your department, including job title and area? I am the Assistant Director of the Office of Finance & Human Resources (OFHR) in the College of Engineering. I oversee all aspects of HR for the College. How long have you been with LSU? 13 years, all in the College of Engineering. It will be 14 this coming September! What has been your most satisfying or rewarding experience as an HR professional? One of the most rewarding things is the opportunity I have to train and develop new employees in the College. What’s the strangest thing you’ve run across in your HR career? I can’t think of anything strange! But I guess the most unique thing is that, because the College of Engineering is so diverse, I have had the opportunity to build relationships with faculty and students from across the globe - people I otherwise would never cross paths with. What do you like most about working at LSU? I love the atmosphere and the people – faculty, staff and students. Tell us something interesting about yourself. Originally from Strasburg, Germany, my ancestors were seeking a better way of life so they came to America. From Maryland, they traveled by flatboat down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, settling in the Baton Rouge area in 1774. I have a large family – 50 first cousins!
