74 PIGS – 10am

Auctioneer: James Morrish 07814 010133

A nice entry of pigs today saw spirited bidding on a day where the smaller they

were, the dearer they went. Overall top call was £110 given for the best of the

sows with others at £108 and £100. Lee Miles travelled up from Cambourne to

sell prime pigs to £95 with others from the same farm at £80. Trever Dawe of

Bradworthy saw his lightweights reach £76 with the best of the stores hitting £65

for coloured stores in from Mike Bridgman of Winkleigh.

James Morrish 07814 010133

First to be sold were the goats which saw a

splendid trade with a top call of £125 for a small

Pigmy goat from Messrs Vallance of West Devon.

Messrs Warren of Exeter enjoyed success with his

3 18mth olds reaching £96 with Mike Bridgman’s

consignment of 6wk old commercial wether goats

to a top call of £57 with others at £52 from the

same good home.

A strong entry of sheep travelled to Holsworthy from

all over the South West and saw plenty of buyers ready

to spend. Top call of the day was £800 given for the

Valais Blacknose ram in from Chris Slee of Halsbury.

For the first time ever Kivells of Holsworthy saw an

entry of Dutch Spotted sheep sell to a top call of £500

on behalf of Ted Haste of Shebbear. A good line up of

Jacob sheep saw Mark Larney top the day at £180, and a quality consignment of 5 pens of pure Jacob ewes (flock

ages) at £105, £103 & £90 on behalf of Mrs VM

Chugg of Barnstaple. Other highlights included

Sue Martyn of Boyton hitting £330 & £280 for

her pedigree Border Leicester rams and her

ewes to £270. Claire Anderson came up from

Tredoggett to sell her Dorset ewes really well

at £172 whilst the best of the Kerry Hills flew

past £100 on behalf of Messrs Jeffery.

All in all, a highly successful entry of sheep with both buyers and sellers going home happy.

The Champion Ram ‘Kersbrook Keith’ topped the sale at 380gns (£399) on

170gns (£179). Shearling 2T’s topped at 130gns (£137) for Messrs MH Coumbe & Son of Callington. A smart
