SOUTH OAKLAND
SHELTER
PROGRAM (SOS)
OUR WEEK IS COMING!
SEPTEMBER 10 – 17, 2017 Our annual South Oakland Shelter Week
(SOS) is coming to our parish again. Sacred
heart parish will offer a shelter for up to 30
homeless men, women and children.
You have been so very generous in past
years and we are counting on that wonderful
generosity again. The sign up-sheets will
be in the Gathering Space until Sunday,
September 3. Alongside of the sign-up
sheets there will be information describing
each task you might consider taking on.
If you are unable to help this year in a
physical manner, we ask that you consider
making a financial donation to help offset the
expenses incurred during Shelter Week. A
donation box will be on the table with the
sign up sheets. Your monetary generosity
has been such a blessing in past years. In the
eventuality that we collect more than we
need, rest assured that your donations will
still go to the SOS Program as it is a
revolving shelter for the homeless
throughout Oakland County.
Please don’t forget to keep this significant
project in your prayers. We can promise
that you won’t be disappointed when you get
involved in this program. Please volunteer to
help and mark your calendars now for
September 10 through 17! This would be
an excellent way to “Unleash the Gospel! It
is truly putting our faith into action!

TENDERHEARTS WOMEN
SAVE THE DATE!
Calling all women of
Sacred Heart!
Tenderhearts Women’s Bible Study
will be gathering for 8 weeks, beginning September
27, to host Queen of Heaven: Mary’s Battle for You.
Never before has the story of Our Lady been told
like this. It tells not only of her life through
Scripture, but of the battle between the Angel who
said No, and the woman who said Yes as she
intervenes at pivotal periods in history to draw us
back to her Son, including her most well-known
apparitions. This is especially fitting as we
celebrate the 100th Anniversary of her appearance
to three children at Fatima, Portugal this October.
Beautifully filmed and thoughtfully taught, with
deep spiritual lessons for us, you won’t want to miss
this. So mark it down now, and watch for more
information in coming weeks.
