Sacred Heart Catholic Church Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time –February 26, 2017
Reflection from the Pastor: This Wednesday begins the season of Lent. During Lent, we practice prayer, fasting
and almsgiving in order to grow closer to God and to do
penance for the sins that we have committed. The penances
we choose are important because they correct the bad habits
we’ve gotten into. Prayer is especially useful as we do
bodily penances because it reminds us that once the bad
habit is corrected, we have to rely all the more on God so as
to not fall into an even worse vice. I invite you during this
Lent to come to the Stations of the Cross each Friday in
Lent and to come to Vespers each Sunday.
ENCOUNTER LENT
Join our faith community—and nearly 14,000 Catholic
communities across the United States—in a life-
changing Lenten journey of encounter with CRS Rice
Bowl. Pick up your family’s CRS Rice Bowl from
the entrance of the church or in the parish
office, and don’t forget to download the CRS
Rice Bowl app! May these 40 days better
prepare us to encounter ourselves, our neighbors
and our God.

La hora santa de Santa Monica
HOY~ Domingo, 26 de febrero a las
