CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BMKS

Member Bank Reserves and Related Items

During the week ended February 4> Member bank r e s e r v e s i nc reased $82 m i l l i o n . The p r i n c i p a l changes supplying r e se rves were an i n c r e a s e of $139 m i l l i o n in Reserve Bank c r e d i t and dec reases of $73 m i l l i o n in Treasury depos i t s w i t h Federa l Reserve Banks, $50 m i l l i o n i n Foreign d e p o s i t s w i t h Federal Reserve Banks, and $10 m i l l i o n in Other depos i t s w i th Federa l Reserve Banks. The p r i n c i p a l o f f s e t t i n g changes were i n c r e a s e s of $65 m i l l i o n i n Money in c i r c u l a t i o n and $33 m i l l i o n in Treasury cash h o l d i n g s , and a de-crease of $101 m i l l i o n i n Gold s t o c k .

i n c r a s o f $139 m i l l i o n in Reserve Bank c r e d i t r e s u l t e d from inc reases of $77 m i l l i o n in Loans, d iscounts and advances , $43 m i l l i o n in F l o a t , and $19 m i l l i o n i n U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s . Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s r e f l e c t e d an i n c r e a s e of $19 m i l l i o n in b i l l s .
