Social problems among youth is aincreasingly worrying phenomenon that we have to face in our daily basis. Social problems such as drug abuse, student misconduct, promiscuity and baby abortion areso wide spreadly happen and rapidly growing. Just look at the newspaper nowadays. There are always the same story about social issues among teenager.

There are many factors that causesocial problems. One of the factoris family crisis. It cause the social control on childrenneglected. Parents whooften arguedwould not be able to nurtureand educating childrentheir properly. This situation becomeworse when there is someparents whobusy with the task atoffice until theyignoretheir responsibilitiesto watch over thebehaviour of their children. As a result, there arechildren who runaway from home, socialize with troublesome friend, and from there all of the social problem that mention above will begin.

Besides that, social problems are also caused by the influence of mass media. In this age of rapidly expanding technology, teenagers are exposed to negative influences through the Internet and many other channels so that their minds are easily poisoned by the negative elements of mass media. In addition, the claims of modernization has also put pressure on those who want the freedom to escape from the shackles of the family and demanded the rights of individuals causing the youth to reject the authority of parents to control their behaviour.

Social problems are also associated withdeterioration of discipline in schools. Due to theschool does not impose strictagainst students who violate discipline, then the students dared to do something thatshould not be done bya student, such as smoking, skipping class and fighting. This behaviour willtaken along by them when they leaveschool later. They will be more boldto do things that inwill eventually contribute to the spread ofsocial problems such as smoking, abusedrugs, sexual promiscuity, gangsterism and so forth.

To reduce social problems, parents should educate and inculcate moral values and religious teachings perfectly to their children so that their children will be amorally and honourable teenager. Parents need to understand the problems of their children and make their children as friends and not foes. Besides the family members of adult brother or sister should be helping their parents in monitoring and controlling their kids from doing an act that can contribute to social problems.

At school, the students have their teacher to control them from social ills. Teachers need to closely engage all students and understanding their problems. Teachers should be aware and be open and try to give encouragement to their students and this will open up space for students to discuss and share the problems faced by them. In addition, school discipline must be tightened. Collaboration between teachers and the parents of the students should be improved. The school can also provide counseling to students with problems so that the student does not feel like he was being abandoned.

In conclusion, to curb this social problem from continuing to spread, various parties involved should work together and play their respective roles. If all parties can work together as expected, there is no reason why social problems among youth can not be contained.
