we are Here

On arriving in Courmayeur from Chamonix the alpinist feels he’s discovered the other side of the moon. Even though the Italian and French Alps are part of the same mountain chain, the two sides ap-pear completely different. Anyone used to the French side will find the other mysterious and unfamiliar. Initially it seems harsh and wild but on getting to know it better and adopting a cautious approach

one falls under its influence and becomes totally bewitched!

This is the home of Grivel.

EXTRA SOLIDITY

Through hammering and stretching the fibres are lined up and positioned to provide the head with maximum strenght along the required direction.

HOT DROP FORGING = EXTRA SOLIDITY

Page 13: Grivel synoptic tables winter 2016

GRIVEL PROACTIVE ANTIBOTT = EXTRA SAFETY

UNIqUE PRO ACTIvE ANTIBOTT

The snow that builds up beneath the crampons could be a very dangerous problem.

The first idea of a protective system was the Foot Fangs designed by Mike Lowe in 1972.

In 1997 Grivel was the first to deliver all the crampons equipped with an efficient

antibott designed by New Alp.

In 2003 the proactive Grivel antibott made the ultimate system. It remains the more efficient and the only one working

in all snow condition. It is a real safety system.

Patented

The Grivel proactive antibuilding plate is the ultimate

solution and a safety system.

CRAMP O MATICA well known system which relies on a nylon speed lever at the rear and a stainless steel front bale to hold the

booth.

NEW MATICThe plastic harness system is hinged

from two front posts which retain the boot securely even if it has a shallow,

worn front welt or overboots are beign used.

NEW CLASSICBoth front and rear plastc harnesses are hinged from their respective retention posts and may be “opened” to facilitate

attachment to the boot, then closed securely once the boot is inside.

SKI MATIC 2.0The front binding fits modern plastic

ski touring boots and it is not guaranteed for traditional mountain

boots.

1. Cross-loading happens when a carabiner is stressed on its minor axis. Carabiners are strongest when stressed on their major axis meaning directly in line, vertically, along the spine. When a carabiner is stressed on its minor axis it’s generally one third as strong.

The POSEIDON is a special harness for mountaineering, expeditions and ice falls. It is the first waterproof harness! The Dry technology used in the ropes is now used also on the Poseidon harness. Grivel has developed the GS, composed of a semi hard half-shell to better distribute the forces, cou-pled inside with a special honey-comb material able to absorb most of the energy without transferring it on the spine, finally protected by recurring damages. The back of the climbers thanks!

Available as spare piece that fits all the new or used harnesses.

Page 36: Grivel synoptic tables winter 2016

P R O T E C T Y O U R S P I N ETo be easily tolerated by the climber a climbing fall requires two factors: the resistance of all the elements of the safety chain (rope, carabiners, protection etc) and their ability to absorb part of the energy released in the fall. The harness is practically static and transmits all the remaining energy on the thighs (that absorb it well), around the waist (that absorbs well enough) and on the spine where all the microtrauma add up creating permanent effects. For this Grivel has developed the GS composed of a half-shell semi hard to better distrib-ute the forces, coupled inside with a special honeycomb material able to absorb most of the energy without transferring it on the spine. The back of the climbers thanks!
