Farewells to Staff As the school year draws to a close, we are saying farewell to a

number of staff; some teachers and some SSOs.

Liana McCurry will be leaving us after 6 years at

Glenelg. Liana has spent her time here as a

specialist music teacher and Year 1 classroom

teacher. Her talents and dedication to her

profession will be sadly missed at Glenelg and we

wish her every success at her new school.

Jonathon Belton will be leaving us this year after

over a year at the school as a contract teacher.

Jonathon was one of our Learning Extension

team teachers before moving into Room 3 as a

Year 5 classroom teacher. His efforts in all of his

roles at the school have not gone unnoticed and

we wish him the very best of luck for the future.

Matt Creswell has been at the school as a TRT

for a number of years before taking on the role

of Year 1 teacher in Room 29 this term. Matt

has developed positive relationships with both

staff and students across the school and we

thank him for all of his efforts throughout his

time here.

Rebecca Taha has been in Room 26A working as a teacher in

Year 1. We thank Rebecca for all her commitment and

dedication to her role and wish her every success in the future.

Bobbie Beswick Corey Mudie Liana Mc Curry

Amalie Meaney has been at Glenelg for two years in a Dance Specialist role and then

as Reception teacher. Amalie has shared her passion and expertise in many areas with

students across the whole school and we will miss her huge input. She is going to be

teaching at a country school in 2020 and we wish her all the best.

Peter Wright has been a teacher at Glenelg for many years. He has a

special expertise in maths and science and has shared this with so many fortunate

children over the years at Glenelg. We will also miss his huge contribution to the chess

program that he started and ran so well. We know that Peter might still pop in to school

in 2020 to teach a day here or there.

Judith Dingwell has been a member of our SSO team in 2019. Judith has developed positive

relationships with the students she has worked with and shown her skills in a wide range of tasks.

We wish her every success in the future.

Sally Johnson has been with us since part-way through 2019 as an SSO working

with many of our students. Her valuable support and caring nature has helped

many students across the school. We wish her the very best of luck in the

future.

Patrick Neal-Bullen has been at Glenelg for 2 years as an SSO working with students

in small groups across the school. In 2019 he has been running Multilit Sessions to

support students with reading. We thank him for his contribution and wish him all

the best with his physiotherapy career in the future.

Ben Wong has been at Glenelg in 2018 and 2019 as one of our

specialist Japanese teachers. Ben has brought energy and creativity

to the school and the students have thoroughly enjoyed his lessons. His bubbly

personality will be missed and we wish him the best of luck with his future

teaching career at his new school.

Paul Wortmeyer has been one of the groundsmen at Glenelg for a number of years.

His work around the school to maintain and care for our grounds has been of a very

high standard. He is reliable and always willing to help where he can. We thank him

for his contribution to the school and wish him the best of luck in the future.







End of Year Concert

What a wonderful effort by all the students to present such a fabulous concert last

Thursday night. The music, colour, and smiling faces made it a great night for all. It

was great to see so many families and friends in the audience enjoying the concert,

too. We trust people enjoyed the special guest performance by staff, too.







Year 7 graduation Last night we celebrated the achievements of our Year 7s at their graduation ceremony. Congratulations everyone on your achievements throughout your primary schooling. Remember to always keep with you a positive attitude and a drive for improvement. A special congratulations to our Year 7 award winners.

Uniform Shop January Opening Times Volunteers are always valued and without them we would not be able to operate as well as we do. If you could spare an hour a week, a fortnight or a month on a Wednesday morning I could really use your help. It isn’t hard, it is just helping parents, like yourself, purchase some uniforms. If you can help please see me in the Uniform shop or leave your contact details at the office and I will get back to you. The Uniform Shop will also be open from 10.30 -11.30am on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd January 2020. Year 7 Polo tops can now be purchased from the Uniform shop for next year. Purchase soon and the student can be wearing the polo from the start of 2020. Thank you Deb

After Hours Sport A huge thank you again to our parent coaches, many of you who coached not just one team, but helped with 2 and 3 teams sometimes! Without your support we just couldn’t have the hundreds of kids playing sport here that we do. If you are a parent who may be thinking of coaching or helping share the role with another parent in 2020, we’d love to hear from you NOW to get your volunteer clearances started. This is essential to coach and avoids any delays when a team starts its first games next year. Please contact Trea in our office; [email protected] to get yours started (and please make sure you tick the box for help on your child’s registration form). We have however only had about half our usual number of summer registration forms come back for Terms 1 & 4 in 2020. As this is a new process this year, we will be extending the deadline to Monday 3 February 2020 for last minute registrations. Thank you to those families who have already put their child’s registration in, no need to put them in again come Term 1. We will still be accepting them THIS WEEK - so keep them coming in please! Remember the Team Sports Information Booklets are on our school website under the “For Parents” tab. To our kids who have enjoyed their weekly games gaining the valuable skills of commitment, sharing, teamwork and patience we’d love to see you back playing again with us in 2020!








Pastoral Care Food Donation This school community is AWESOME!!! You have been very generous and we finished with two ute loads of donations. Because of this generosity we were able to donate to three community care centres that support local homeless and disadvantaged people. Two in the Glenelg area and one at Brighton. This will mean a lot to many people who access these centres over Christmas or occasionally through the year. THANK YOU! and MERRY CHRISTMAS Alison Reidy Pastoral Care Worker
