In a show of support, Giza Systems attends Tawasol’s event for creating

awareness and raising funds for ‘Khatawat’ School. The fundraiser was held

at El-Sawy Culture Wheel in Zamalek, and involved a number of performances

by the school students.

The aim of the event was to raise funds for the expansion of the school. Currently, ‘Khatawat’

School has 140 students and offers classes up to the primary level. By expanding the school,

Tawasol will be able to provide students with a preparatory and secondary education, as well

as accommodate more students in order to increase the number of beneficiaries in ‘Istabl

Antar’.

“The event was extremely well organized and brought to life, through the performances, what

Tawasol was able to achieve with the students of Khatawat,” explained Ahmed

Kamal, Telecom General Manager. “In an area suffering from poverty and a severe

disproportionate number of governmental educational services in relation to the

population, Tawasol managed to offer these students a smart community school

that teaches them crafts and vocational skills,” he elaborated.

In their first performance ever, students varying in age showcased their talents

and skills. Musical performances, sketches and handcrafts were just a few of the

highlights of the event. Seeing firsthand the true creative and productive potential of

the students, guests were entertained while learning about Tawasol’s projects and

activities in ‘Istabl Antar’.

“The performances held by the students were really engaging. They were confident and got to show the audience what they

could do with what they had learned and practiced,” stated Lara Shawky, Internal & External Communications Manager. “What

Tawasol has been able to achieve in Istabl Antar is truly awe inspiring and deserves our support to ensure its sustainability,”

she explained.

The event was a success with a massive turnout of people interested in developing the educational process in Egypt, as well as

supporting the dedicated efforts exerted to improve the situation in ‘Istabl Antar’. Actor Khaled

Abu El Naga was the host for the event and introduced the students and performances, in

addition to highlighting the importance of supporting community schools and marginalized

areas in Egypt. He explained the goals of Tawasol and the purpose of the fundraiser.

Among the attendees were also prominent society figures and charity organizations, as well

as companies interested in supporting the project.

Through its newly established Foundation, Giza Systems is working with ‘Tawasol for

Developing Istabl Antar’ to improve the level of education at ‘Khatawat’ School through

the employment of Information Communications Technology (ICT). The aim is to foster an

environment of knowledge, learning and development of aptitudes through innovative

and effective programs geared towards the improvement of

education.

The idea is to equip students with the requisite competencies

and skills through the incorporation and integration of ICT in

the education system. This plan will maximize the impact of the

educational revolution, through carefully selected community

school models, like ‘Khatawat’ School in ‘Istabl Antar.’

To effectively launch its program, Giza Systems

Learning Foundation has started the first

phase by training ICT basics to both teachers

and administrators of the School in order to

ensure the adoption and incorporation of ICT

throughout the different levels.

Giza Systems Learning Foundation plans to

continue its collaboration with ‘Tawasol’ in the

new school by assisting in capacity building and technical

support, as well as actively participating in ICT initiatives.

اليدوية كانت من بعض املهارات التي تم استعراضها يف الحفل.

وقد إستمتع الحارضون مبشاهدة األعامل التي أنتجها الطالب،

من أثبتوه مبا انبهروا العروض، به متيزت الذي وباإلبتكار

مهارات ومواهب واعدة، كام كونوا فكرة عن التطورات التي

شهدتها منطقة إسطبل عنرت مبساهمة مشاريع جمعية تواصل.

»كانت العروض ممتعة حقيقة، كام كان الطلبة واثقني من أنفسهم خالل تقدميها، مستعرضني

ما تعلموه وما هم قادرون عىل القيام به.« - هكذا علقت األستاذة الرا شوقي، مدير التسويق

مضيفاً أن »ما استطاعت جمعية تواصل الوصول إليه وإنجازه يف إسطبل عنرت هو شئ ملهم

حقاً، ويستحق بالفعل دعمنا الكامل ليك يستمر وينمو.«

كلل الحفل بالنجاح بحضور الكثري من املدعوين املهتمني بدعم وتطوير العملية التعليمية يف

مرص، وإكامل واستمرار الجهود الرامية إىل تحسني األوضاع واملستوى املعييش يف إسطبل عنرت.

وقام الفنان خالد أبو النجا بتقديم الحفل، مقدماً الطلبة للجمهور، كام قام بإلقاء الضوء عىل

للتوعية عن مدرسة خطوات Giza Systems Supports SIFE Egypt in National Competition 2012In alignment with its corporate citizenship philosophy, Giza Systems

actively gets involved in societal projects that strive to inspire change.

Sponsoring SIFE Egypt in its national competition for 2012 allowed

Giza Systems to effectively support the new generation in its initiatives

to effect change in the community.

“SIFE students are motivated to make a real change in the community.

Innovative and entrepreneurial thinking channeled towards

solving community problems are put into action. Empowerment,

sustainability, and long-term impact are the foundations of the SIFE

community projects,” explained Lara Shawky, Internal and External

Communications Manager.

Competing in the SIFE national contest were 27 public and private

universities presenting their projects to a panel of judges. Upper and

middle management from the different SIFE sponsors volunteered

their time to serve as judges in order to support the initiative.

The contest was held after a year of hard work, and all the projects in

the different governorates succeeded to varying degrees in impacting

the lives of those targeted by the SIFE participant initiatives.

The winners of the SIFE national competition were the French University

in Cairo in first place, Cairo University in second, and Menoufia

University in third place. The team from the French University in Cairo

presented their numerous projects including “Revive Warraq,” “Jojoba

Cultivation,” and “Foot-and-Mouth Disease Project.” These were just

some of the projects presented qualifying the team for first place.

As for the Cairo University team, last year’s winners of the competition,

they presented their projects spanning more than one province in

Egypt. Cairo University team’s projects included the project “Mastaba”

to revive the “Geziret El-Dahab” and the revival of “Soor Magra El

Oyoun” among others.

The Menoufia University team celebrated with utter joy their first time

win in the competition. Their innovative approach to their projects

earned them third place winners. Menoufia University’s SIFE team

declared that it would not be their last.

The SIFE national competition is an exemplary initiative that motivates

students to compete for the benefit of the community, while pushing

them to new heights.

وكانت املشاركة واملنافسة يف بطولة سايف كانت مشتعلة بني ٢٧ جامعة عامة وخاصة، قاموا

بتقديم مشاريعهم للجنة من الحكام. وقد قام عدد من املديرين من الرشكات الراعية بتخصيص

جزء من وقتهم ليكونوا يف تلك اللجنة لدعم مبادرة سايف.

من واملبادرات املشاريع نجحت وقد املضني، العمل من كامل عام بعد املسابقة أجريت

الذين استهدفتهم مبادرات التأثري عىل حياة هؤالء املختلفة بدرجات متفاوتة يف املحافظات

سايف. وقد فاز مبسابقة سايف لهذا العام فريق الجامعة الفرنسية يف القاهرة والذي جاء يف

املركز األول، تاله فريق جامعة القاهرة يف املركز الثاين، وفريق جامعة املنوفية يف املركز الثالث.

قدم فريق الجامعة الفرنسية العديد من املشاريع منها »إحياء الوراق« و »زراعة الجوجوبا«

الفريق قام التي املتنوعة املشاريع من بعض – وهذه هى والفم« القدم و »مرشوع مرض

بتقدميها ليتأهل للمركز األول.

فقد - املايض العام بطولة يف األول باملركز فاز والذي - القاهرة جامعة لفريق بالنسبة أما

فاز باملركز الثاين لهذا العام بعد أن قدم مشاريع طافت عدة مناطق يف مرص. وكان من أبرز

مبادرات فريق جامعة القاهرة مرشوع »مصطبة« لتنمية جزيرة الدهب ومرشوع تنمية سور

مجرى العيون.

األول يف الثالث بفرحة غامرة، كونه فوزهم باملركز بالفوز املنوفية كام إحتفل فريق جامعة

سايف، فقد تأهل الفريق بفضل طريقتهم املبتكرة يف تنفيذ وعرض مشاريعهم. وأكد أعضاء

الفريق أن هذا الفوز لن يكون األخري لجامعتهم يف سايف.

بطولة سايف املحلية هي مبادرة منوذجية تهدف إىل تحفيز الطلبة للتنافس من أجل فائدة

املجتمع، ودفعهم إىل آفاق جديدة.

Giza Systems was awarded two

major Distributed Control System

(DCS) projects by partnering with

Kharafi National for contracting

and PGESCO for consultancy.

The projects involved delivery of

distributed control systems and

field cables for Al-Shabab simple

cycle power plant (8 x 125 MW)

and Damietta simple cycle power

plant (4 x 125 MW).

Our client Kharafi National awarded Giza Systems its projects for the

Egyptian Electricity Holding Company on a turnkey basis. The project

entailed injecting 1،500MW to the Egyptian Grid as part of a national

initiative to decrease power leakages especially during the months of

summer.

Kharafi National commissioned Giza Systems for its technical know-

how and proficiency in the power sector, which have positioned it as

the leading systems integrator equipped to handle vast and complex

projects, as well as ensure compatibility and flexibility in the integration

process.

Giza Systems was contracted to design, engineer, and install

the necessary DCS systems and its infrastructure at the Shabab

and Damietta power plants, thus injecting the Egyptian Grid with

1,500MW. The project implementation consisted of the supply,

engineering, supervising installation, commissioning, and start-up for

the operation, as well as the monitoring and control of the systems

and relevant material.

“The projects awarded were exciting due to the challenges they

presented. The challenge of these projects involved the five month

schedule for their delivery, as well as the multifaceted aspects dealing

with all the requisite stages for the start-up of operations,” stated Amr

Sherif, Utilities Sales Manager.

He elaborated, “Our expertise in integrated power solutions and our

understanding of the intricacies involved in integrating all the plant sub-

systems from different vendors like Siemens, Schneider, Hyosung, GE

and others with different media and protocols enabled us to fulfill the

requirements within the extremely tight timeframe set.”

Working within the strict

timeframe, the scope

encompassed the engineering,

supply, installation, FAT, training,

testing and commissioning

for the DCS and field works

to control the Balance of

Plant, MV/LV Switchgear,

fuel area and interface with

subsystems, turbine control,

substation control, and water treatment systems. It also included

complementary equipment such as megawatt meters, GPS, UPS, a

fiber network and workstations.

For Al-Shabab power plant, we were commissioned to install DCS to

control eight power islands and BOP (balance of plant), in addition to

60 km. field cables of different sizes and specifications.

As for the Damietta power plant, the project necessitated the installation

of DCS to control four power islands and BOP (balance of plant), as

well as 40 km. field cables of different sizes and specifications.

“Being awarded this project marks another major accomplishment

for Giza Systems in Egypt. It is a great opportunity for us to assist

in Egypt’s infrastructure development in the field of energy, ensuring

sustainability of integrated power management solutions,” stated

Osama Sorour, Vice President Business Development.

The project is part of the several continuous initiatives to improve

service standards in the Egyptian power sector. The initiative aims at

overcoming electricity shortages and blackouts especially resulting

during summer due to increasing energy demands.

وقد قام عمالؤنا من رشكة الخرايف مبنحنا املرشوعات ملصلحة الرشكة املرصية القابضة للكهرباء

لتسلم تسليامً نهائياً . وتضمنت املرشوعات إدخال ١٥٠٠ ميجاوات للشبكة املرصية كجزء من

املبادرة الوطنية للتقليل من فاقد الطاقة الكهربائية، خاصًة خالل شهور الصيف حيث يزداد

During the holy month of Ramadan, Giza Systems organized

an internal tournament for its employees dedicating ten

evenings to pure unadulterated soccer fun. Seven teams

were formed from the different departments in the company

and competed for the title of Giza Systems’ Soccer

Champions by playing against each other after iftar at the

Cairo International Stadium in Nasr City.

Each team sported its own colors and picked their team

captain to represent them in the draws. Employees also

volunteered to act as referees to ensure a fair game and

participate in the fun. Team members were excited to

participate and brought their best moves to the field. The

games were attended and watched by Giza Systems’

employees, families and friends, who showed up to root for

their teams.

“It was a lot of fun, because we got out of the mood of work

and just played, socialized, laughed and did sports! We took

it very seriously as we wore our t-shirts, planned games with

our partners, and kept score. It was a very refreshing activity

and we definitely want to do it again,” commented Mahmoud

Nouh, Help Desk Team Leader.

The soccer tournament was an engaging activity that

strengthened relations amongst the employees and different

departments. It was a great chance to have fun and build

team spirit throughout the organization. Whether employees

played, attended matches, or even just watched the movies

and photos on the Giza Systems’ pages on facebook and

youtube, everyone joined in the fun.

“At Giza Systems, we are always looking for ways to cultivate

relationships between employees, and what better time to

do so than during Ramadan? Soccer made perfect sense

because everyone just loves it. The tournament exhibits

players’ competitive drive and will to win, while bringing us

closer to each other outside of the office,” said Hesham Ezz

ElDin, Brand & Events Manager.

Members of the winning team, “Team Shaaban,” were

awarded the tournament trophy and golden medals, while

members of “Team Gawad” were announced as first

runners up. Giza Systems is always keen on launching such

initiatives, aimed at nurturing relations and bonds among the

employees; a vital aspect of the company’s team building

strategy.

عرشة ليايل للعب. وتنافست سبعة فرق عىل لقب أبطال جيزة سيستمز من خالل مباريات

أقيمت مساًء بعد اإلفطار يف ستاد القاهرة الدويل مبدينة نرص.

قام كل فريق بارتداء لون مختار، كام قاموا باختيار كابنت الفريق ليمثلهم يف السحوبات. وتطوع

آخرون للقيام بدور الحكام لضامن اللعب حسب القواعد، وشاركوا الجميع املرح. وكان الحامس

صديق الجميع وقد بذل جميع الالعبني جهدهم وقدموا أفضل ما لديهم من مهارات ليلعبوا

مباريات مليئة باإلثارة. وقد حرض املباريات الزمالء من جيزة سيستمز والعائالت واألصدقاء،

لتشجيع فرقهم ومتابعة النتائج.

اللعب والضحك والحديث معاً العمل والجد إىل استمتعنا كثرياً، ألننا خرجنا من حالة »لقد

Giza Systems recently hosted a “Take Your Child to Work Day,” for

its employees. Employees were invited to bring their children to the

company for a fun-filled day of activities. Approximately 150 children

over the age of 3 joined their parents at the company premises to

partake in the event. An area was specifically dedicated to the event

to allow the children to run around, have fun and play in a child-safe

environment at the premises of Giza Systems School of Technology.

The play day was organized to give parents a chance to share their

work experience with their kids. Parents were able to show their kids

where they work, what they do for a living and the people they work

with at the office.

“As working parents, we usually get little time to spend with our

kids. This initiative gave us a great chance to have them join us and

provided them with insight in what we actually do all day when we are

away from home,” said Al Shimaa Magdy, Senior Quality Specialist, a

working mother at Giza Systems.

Several games were planned for the children, as they mingled with

each other and their parents’ colleagues. They also enjoyed a clown

show, face painting, as well as meals and snacks. The cotton candy

and popcorn vendors were the highlight of the menu, popular with

both kids and grown-ups alike.

In addition to the entertainment, the event also educated the children

in an interactive way about the value of education linking it to the

business world. It exposed them in a tangible way to their parents’

work, the business environment, and the different career options. “We

are very pleased with the successful outcome of our hosted activity.

We are also both happy and proud of the friendly atmosphere, where

the children got to know each other and form new friendships,”

إستضافت جيزة سيستمز مؤخراً يوم »إصطحب طفلك إىل العمل« ملوظفيها، ودعي املوظفون إلصطحاب أطفالهم إىل موقع الرشكة يف يوم حافل باألنشطة املرحة. وقد شارك حوايل ١٥٠ طفالً

وطفلة فوق سن الثالثة ذويهم بالحضور، وقد هيأت الرشكة مكانا آمنا للعب.

وقد تم التجهيز لهذا اليوم إلعطاء األهل فرصة ملشاركة تجربة العمل يف حضور أطفالهم، كام

الذين العمل، وزمالؤهم يفعلون يف أطفالهم مكان عملهم، وماذا الفرصة يك يشاهد وجدوا

يشاركون يومهم.
