Ghapa Middle SchoolA Family Recipe for Success 2012-2A13

Chapa Middle School aspires to engage with our community by giving back to organizations all year long instead of just at certain times of theyear. CMS will focus on serving three organizations this year; Hays County Area Food Bank, American Cancer Society and American DiabetesAssociation. Our Family Nights wil l continue to be free but we are going to ask for a $1 donation or a canned food donation to help ourorganizations throughout the year. The canned food will go to the Hays County Food Bank and the money raised will be split between the othertwo organizations. We thank you in advance for helping our community and for helping us show our students a variety of ways our schools cangive back to our community.

Take Your Dad to School Dav - Friday, September 28,2012. CMS dads are encouraged to spend time withtheir child at school by eating breakfast or lunch with their child, sit in their classrooms and visit with theirteachers. More information to be announced later.

Guvs' Niqht Out - Thursday, October 4,2012, 6:00 p.m. - B:00 p.m. CMS boys are invi ted to br ing an adul tmale in their l i fe to spend an evening of dinner, basketball tournament, games, flag football, door prizes andmore. This event is just for the guys. $1 donation or a can food item.

CM$ Talent Show - Thursday, October 25,2A12, 6:00 p.m. - B:00 p.m. Students wi l l d isplay their manytalents while families can come watch and enjoy the fun. CMS will be hosting a concession stand for familiesto purchase food. $1 donation or a can food item.

Faf f Fun Familv Time - Tuesday, November 13,2012,6:30 p.m. - B:00 p.m. The whole fami ly is invi ted foran evening of fun activit ies. We wil l have fitness activit ies, holiday crafts and games. We will give awayturkeys for door prizes, so come enjoy the fun! Healthy snacks wil l be provided. $1 donation or a can fooditem.

Thanksqiv ing Lunch - Fr iday, November 16,2A12, 11:22 a.m. - 12:52 p.m. CMS students and theirfamilies are invited to purchase a special Thanksgiving meal with their child. Turkey, dressing and all thetrimmings wil l be served. A special place- on stage wil l be available to eat together.

PTA Lock-ln - Wednesday, December 19, 2012, 1 :30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. CMS students are invited to stayafter school and enjoy an evening of movies, games, Wii, Guitar Hero and many other activit ies. Parentsenjoy a night on the town while we take care of your Chapa kids. More details to come. There is a fee for thisevent.

Coffee House - Thursday, January 31,2013, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Friends and families are invited to l isten toCMS students share personal pieces of writ ing in a "coffee house" setting. CMS gir lsare invited to bring an adult female to join in on an evening of polishing nails, dinner, karaoke, knitt ing, ducktape art door prizes and more. 5th Annual Ghapa 5K Challenqe - Saturday, April 6,2013, 9:00 a.m. CMS students and their families areinvited to run/walk in the Chapa 5K Challenge. Awards are given and there is a fee for this event.Registration forms wil l be sent home later in the year or register on-line. GouqarMart Niqhts - Would you like to check out a book? How about work on some research in thecomputer lab? Or how about a game of chess? Do you have questions about using programs on thecomputer? Would you like to access our Neighbors Helping Neighbors? Come on any of these evenings andwe wil l have the l ibrary media room open so that you and your family can engage in reading, chess, checkingout books or accessing the computer lab. Our l ibrarian wil l be available for information on databases andresources. Our Neighbors Helping Neighbors wil l also be open to the community.
