Dear Parents/Guardians, Welcome back! This past month all of our students were involved in Edu-Fair. It was a huge success with a wide variety of interesting projects. Some of our students will be taking their projects to the Divisional Science Fair and Heritage Fair. Basketball season has also ended and all of our teams did very well. Our Grade 9 Boys won the Provin-cial Championship this year. It was wonderful to see so many parents/guardians and former alumni at the championship game. Congratulations to all players and coaches! All of our students have received an application for the next school year. We are very impressed that so many students have already handed in their applications. As applications come in the optional classes fill up, so it is important to return applications as soon as possible. We would like to thank all of our parents/guardians for coming to our Student-Led-Tri Conferences. Conferences are an important part of sharing student learning, but ongoing communication with parents is also very important. If you have any concerns or questions about your child please do not hesitate to contact the school. This last term of school is a very busy one, with many activities both in and out of school. During this time, it is important that students remain focused on their first priority, school and their education. They may need our assistance in time management so that they can be successful in their studies. A calendar or organizer can be a useful tool for keeping track of assignments, test dates, as well as other activities. Listing important events on a calendar at home is also a great way to keep track of upcoming events. Our parent council is once again raising funds through the Show and Save Books. These books have wonderful coupons for many vendors in our community. You child has been given an order form if you wish to order. We are encouraging students to take orders from friends and family and not go door to door.
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education

Mahal na Magulang at Tumatayong Magulang.
Maligayang Pagbabalik!

General Wolfe Aboriginal Student Association
Pow Wow dancing starts up again on April 8th. Arlene and Shannon our volunteer dance in-structors, will be joining us on April 8th with their regalia and will be performing for the students. Practices will take place one day after school each week as well as on Fridays at lunch.
Also joining us on April 8th will be Ms. Mitchell who helped our students with regalia for last year’s Aboriginal Day Celebra-tion. This year each student performing will also be making their own regalia. General Wolfe School has received a $2,000.00 grant from Tourism, Culture, Heritage, Sport and Consumer Protection to support this project. Pow Wow Dance will be similar to joining a sports team where attendance and commitment will be required. In return stu-dents will create their own regalia reflecting their spirit name and colours. Space is limited and so you must attend the first meeting in April 8. Watch the GWASA bulletin board
for further announcements includ-
ing moccasin making workshops
which are also planned for April/
May. The teaching for April is Hon-
esty.
WSD's Celebrating Diversity Silk Banner Project
On March 7th and 8th, Ms. Yudai and two art students, Graham and Trish, were in-volved in the Winnipeg School Division's special art installation project. Students
from each school in the division were invited to design a banner which reflects their ideas of what diversity means to them. The chosen design was then painted by the
students onto an 8 x 3 ft. silk banner, using a liquid resist medium, and vivid special-ized fabric paints. Everyone was impressed with the final design and overall beauty of the General Wolfe banner. Graham, Trish and Ms. Yudai are looking forward to participating in the Winnipeg School Division's Diversity Walk at the Forks on May
20th, where their banner, along with 76 others from all schools in the division, will be displayed together.
