The new International Building (G52) houses the complementary operations of the Griffith English Language Institute (GELI) and the Queensland Institute of Business & Technology (QIBT). Both institutes offer international students pre-university language programs and diploma level courses.

The building has been designed with sensitivity to the cultures of the user groups, the climate and the location, with emphasis placed on the building’s relationship to its surrounding context. The building acts as a threshold and Campus marker to the bridge link across the Smith Street Motorway and increases the presence of the Campus when viewed from the motorway.

The building is arranged in individual wings around a communal services foyer and large break out courtyard space and accommodates a 150 seat lecture theatre, teaching facilities, computer labs, independent learning spaces, a student common areas and social learning spaces, an on-line testing room, academic offices for the two separate user groups, shared meeting spaces and a prayer room.
