APRIL’S BIRTHDAY EXTRAVANGANZA CONTINUES – AND WHO RIDES INTO TOWN AT THE END OF A RAINBOW? Magic is happening in and around Salvo this week as Mick and Mouse rode into town in the
dead of night to the cries of “I won the pool” from Steve Ryan. Steve is still pondering
what his drink of choice shall be and promised to get back to me before Mick disappears
again.
A mere days after this event occurred two miraculous events happened. One was a double
rainbow over the Atlantic, which could only be deciphered as a gift for April’s birthday and
the return of the M&M duo. If you look close enough, you can see Mouse marking her
territory beneath both ends of the rainbow. That dog is talented. Another thing of note in
this photo is what happened to the missing mile marker 43. I have often wondered where
that was. Well done Contestables, we love signs of sticking it to the man..
I believe the first rainbow miracle begat the second one, as the following morning a new
fire pit arose from the ashes and placed itself in the crook of Mick’s Nook. It is a sight to

behold, and needs to be placed immediately as an Outer Banks historical site. We christen
the New Look Nook tonight, and as you can see Summer waits in anticipation for us to
light the first log and throw out the first drunk.
May this be the first of many fires this
summer. This inaugural fire will also serve as
ceremony to pass the torch of the birthday
celebrations from April to Angel. April has
been celebrating from some time after Easter
culminating in a raucous dance party at the
Contestable house. There was wine, song,
fried pickles and Fireball. There was dancing,
sauntering, frolicking and rug cutting. There
are birthdays, and then there are April birthdays. The gauntlet is thrown down for Angel’s
coming up, and the rite of passage shall occur tonight. Come one come all to the Grand
Opening of the New Look Nook, you can book that you will be hooked.
Next week in From the Nook, Mouse
announces her candidacy for the Titan of
the Tri Villages Election, coming up this
fall. But who will her opponent be? FTN
is on the case and will be presenting her
opposition next week. Meanwhile Mouse is
already out campaigning, and by that we
mean peeing in everyone’s yard, while
kicking up her heels.
