DESCRIPTION

This is my capstone project for my M.S. in Instructional Technology from Texas A&M University at Texarkana. The program was 100% online and introduced me to training and online teaching possibilities that I did not know existed. This training is for secondary education teachers who want to lean how to effectively use their Nook Color instructively.

A formal report analyzing student pre- and post-surveys and checklists results will be compiled innarrative forms illustrated by Microsoft spreadsheetsand charts. I will enter the knowledge assessmentsraw scores into Microsoft Excel Program and requestan embedded column chart to compare results with thesurveys and checklists. The knowledge assessment will be worth 100 points.For each of the assessments, I will add the scores of the10 trainees and divide the sum total by the number 10to obtain the groups mean score to see if there is acausal effect of using multimedia. For the score of the surveys completed by thetrainees/teachers, I will add all choices and divide thesum by 3 to get the sample means for the survey.If thesample means is above 1.5, it will indicate a positiveresponse to the multimedia tutorial as a training toolfor instructive use of the Nook Color e-reader. Ifsample means is below 3, it will reflect a negativeresponse to using multimedia. The interview analysis will be presented in narrativeform to present the findings on the effectiveness of theuse of the multimedia tutorial as a training tool forusing the Nook Color e-reader. My portfolio serves as visual and skillful evidenceof my journey through the field of Texas A&Ms M. S. Program in Instructional Technology.At first it was a challenging crawl, learning newvocabulary and formats, which laterstrengthened me to stand and tentativelycollaborate with my peers. The communaleffect powered me to confidently walk into thefield and begin to contribute. My pace is now atrot on the cusp of a marathon.A.R. If I would have had the opportunity to implementmy project, I would have been better able toadjust my design if needed based on formativeassessments from my trainees. Formativeassessments would have provided for moreproductive summative assessments, which inturn means a beneficial design.I am supremely confident that I have gainedpractical competent in the my field because I havegone on a job interview for a position as an A.R. Although I did not get the position the questions that I was asked appeared to have come directly from the knowledge that I gained from this program. I was able for example: the benefits of online training verses face to face, examples of online assessments that I would use. I contacted the interviewers after not getting the position and was told that I was one of their top 3 choices out of 9, and that ultimately they hired in-house I was also told that they were impressed with my knowledge and confidence, and would keep me in mind for future openings.
