Retrieving the Suture Load the tip of the needle into the opening in the handle of the Suture Passer as shown 2 1 Place the L-shaped end into the hole at the back of the handle as shown 3 4 6 14mm 10mm 10mm x 14mm Jaw Opening 5a 10mm Closed Jaw 4.5mm Profile Finger Support (no action) 8a 9a Make a small loop at the end of the suture. Place the shorter strand of the loop under the bottom jaw. Place the loop in the notch and hold the suture in place by applying a little tension perpendicular to the device. 5a - While holding the suture in the notch, briefly toggle down to the level labeled “Load Suture.” 5b - You will see the suture slide into the needle slot. If the suture tail is longer than 10mm, slide suture through the slot to create a 10mm tail. 7a - Press lever forward where it’s labeled “Deploy Needle.” Once needle has been deployed, the suture will be passed through tissue as shown. 7b - Close jaws of EXPRESSEW. 8a & 8b - Use thumb to pull back lever. 9a - Grasp suture with EXPRESSEW mouth. 9b - Alternatively, retrieve suture with a Suture Grasper 5b 7b 7a 8b 9b C.
