FERTILIZER INDUSTRY OVERVIEW:
Introduction to the Fertilizer Industry of India:
Department of Fertilizers comes under the ambit of Ministry of Chemicals and
Fertilizers.
Department of Fertilizers came into existence as a separate Department in September,
1985 consequent upon the bifurcation of the then Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers.
Fertilizer Industry in the service of farmer:
Fertilizer in the agricultural process is an important area of concern. Fertilizer
industry in India has succeeded in meeting the demand of all chemical fertilizers in the
recent years. The Fertilizer Industry in India started its first manufacturing unit of Single
Super Phosphate (SSP) in Ranipet near Chennai with a capacity of 6000 MT a year.
Growth of Fertilizer Industry:
The number ofCo-operative Societies associated with IFFCO have risen from 57
in 1967 to 39,824 at present.

COMPANY OVERVIEW
IFFCO :- FOR THE FARMERS, OF THE FARMERS, BY THE FARMERS.
Indian Farmers Fertilizer Co-operative Limited (IFFCO) was registered on November 3,
1967 as a Multi-unit Co-operative Society. On the enactment of the Multistate Co-
operative Societies act 1984 & 2002, the Society is deemed to be registered as a Multistate
Co-operative Society. The Society is primarily engaged in production and distribution of
fertilizers.
IFFCO, to day, is a leading player in India's fertilizer industry and is makingsubstantial contribution to the efforts of Indian Government to increase food grain
production in the country.

SWOT ANALYSIS OF IFFCO:
STRENGTHGrowth: IFFCO is one the most leading companies of India. This industry is expected to grow at
significant rate and internal strength is quite strong and good management as well.
Technology: technology innovation has increased the companys productivity and distributional
channels because of the company adoption of modern technology.
WEAKNESSGas supply: company has to depend on other companies for the use of production.
Insufficient production: as per demand of the fertilizer in the country, company is not able toprovide in full fledged way.
OPPORTUNITYContinuous improvements quality and international exposure has helped open up new doors to
crossover audience (farmers) and offers immense potential for development.
Company has opportunity to expand its Harrison by structuring new plant at kalol unit because of
to meet demand of the market.
THREATSMany competitors are coming to crash the strengths of the company in the market for example
GSFC.
Sometime lack of quality may generate disloyal market.

KALOL PLANT OVERVIEW:
IFFCO by commissioning its Ammonia-Urea complex located at Kalol, North
Gujarat (India) in November, 1974 started a new era in the Indian fertilizer industry. Theplant was dedicated to the nation on November 8, 1974.
The Rs.75crores IFFCO Kalol unit, located 26kms from Ahmedabad on the
Ahmedabad-Mehsana highway, started commercial production in April, 1975.
In an area covering 96 hectares, the unit consists of plants to produce Ammonia,
Urea, Malathion and Dry ice along with necessary offsite facilities. They have been
recognized among the best run plants in India.

WHAT IS INDUSTRIAL RELATION?
IR is a relationship between management and employees or among employees and their
organizations, that grows out of employment.
IR may be defined as the complex of inter- relations among workers, managers and
government.
OBJECTIVE OF INDUSTRIAL RELATION:
To promote and develop labor management relation.
To regulate the production by minimizing industrial conflicts
To provide opportunity to workers to involve in decision making process with
management.
To encourage and develop trade unions in order to improve the workers' strength.

Research Assumptions:
The unit selected is assumed to represent whole universe of IFFCO
Data collected are assumed to be bias free from side of respondents, interviewer or any
other mediaries.
Whole research and analysis part based on data collected is carried out under unbiased
environment and without any influence of any factor which can lead to deviation in result.
Research Limitations:
Respondent might not understand the question and respond wrongly.
While carrying out the survey, some of the Respondents were reluctant to give the
information because they were not ready to spend much time for giving the data.

Research Sample size:
The survey was conducted in IFFCO at Kalol unit in different departments through
a questionnaire to know the Personal and Industrial Relation of company
I have surveyed 68 Employees working in different departments of IFFCO Kalol
unit
10% of total population (Approx. 675 Employees in the company)
Research Design:
Primary Data Collection Method
Survey method of Quantitative (Descriptive) method was used for primary data
collection.
I used questionnaire as an instrument for survey method.
Type of questionnaire: Structured questionnaire with open ended and close endedquestions.
Secondary Data Collection method
Reference books.

FINDINGS:
There is very good Relation between Management & Employees/Workers of IFFCO
from both with inside and outside (Contractual worker) of the company
The Employees/Workers are satisfied & positive towards their work in IFFCO Kalol
unit.
There is very healthy Relationship between Employee/Worker with their Superior and
Subordinate in IFFCO Kalol unit
The Employees/Workers are influences by their Superior and Subordinate for their work
because there is very strong Relationship in IFFCO Kalol unit.
There is no or very less problems are there between Management & Employees/Workers
in personal or Industrial Relationship at IFFCO Kalol unit.
CONCLUSION:
As per the data interpretation, it is very clear that the Relation between Management &
Employees/Workers of IFFCO from both with inside and outside (Contractual worker) of
the company, the objective or goal behind the training programme is definitely achieved.

SUGGESTION:
There is no any suggestion for the company because the Relation between
Management & Employees/Workers of IFFCO is very Strong and Healthy as Personal orIndustrial Relation with inside peoples or outside parties (Contractual worker) of the
company.
IFFCO just maintain its leading position in the Fertilizer Industry by using
Porters 5 Forces model.
LEARNING:
I got very good experience during this training. I have come to know about how
theoretical knowledge in actually use in practical work in IFFCO kalol unit.
I got very much practical exposure in my knowledge during this SIP training in IFFCO
kalol unit.
