COFFEE
Our product, coffee, comes from Colombian states and it is exported to many countries such
as Germany, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom…
The picking consists on manually gathering, only the ripe coffee beans are chosen. In this
department of Colombia the coffee harvest is done in the months of September, October and
November.
The ripe coffee, which is red, is picked promptly to avoid falling. Small producers are beginning
to transform the way in which coffee is processed by preselecting and removing the fruits that
have coffee beans and washing them.
Later, beans are dried by the sun or industrial dryers.
OUR COMPANY Our Company COBECOLI (Coffee Bean Cooperative Limited) has created a new product called
COFEEBEANS, which are small packets containing a small portion of coffee beans for to grind
them. In each bag, there’s a message of congratulations, wishing a happy birthday…
They come in various types to suit all tastes:
Our aim is to satisfy our consumers and we desire to create a better world, helping those less
fortunate.
COBECOLI Spain ensures maximum product quality.
For inquiries enquiries or concerns contact us at:
COBECOLI SPAIN SL-

Telf. : 908459651 / Fax: 908459652
OUR ROLE COBECOLI helps to combat malnutrition and creates schools for children in Colombia, with the
proceeds from our products.
The package which contains 20 little bags helps us to change the world and to give them a
better price for their coffee and enable them to pay for their children’s education.
The product can be found in any supermarket of your area as it is distributed all over the
world. To recognize the package there is little seal from FAIR TRADE USA.

THE ROSES
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT The rose is the flower of the plant known as rose tree. There are about 100 species of roses in the world, most are from Asia. They cultivate the land because it gives many benefits. They are sold for their beauty, fragrance and because from the rose you can also get essential oils used in perfumery, cosmetics, food and even medicine. The rose is the best selling flower and there are gardens that are largely dedicated only to the different types of roses. The most common colours are red and white, although other unusual colours can also be found like purple or green.
THE COMPANY
GRANDIOSA ROSA COMPANY Grandiosa Rosa company is located near the city of Papanugu in a valley surrounded by the beach of Cleanwater and the snowy mountains. The country in which we are based is Menicaxua, a wonderful country in which there is a perfect natural environment for growing roses. La Grandiosa Rosa or the Magnificient Rose, a kind of common rose nearly 2 meters long has been achieved without chemicals or artificial elements. Obviously we cannot give away the plant’s formula, but you can be sure it is 100% natural. We usually sell it to people who use it as decoration, but it can also be placed indoors or in an office to cleanse the environment. The Magnificent Rose or La Grandiosa Rosa does not need much light and it grows with only a glass of water per month. It is very economical.
PROGRAMMES AND ACTIONS
The delivery of the final product is excellent: the plant is
treated with care, delivered quickly and comfortably to the customer. Our objective is that the customer is very satisfied with our product. Our programme is as much about caring for
the plant, the consumer and in particular the workers. Our company consists of about 25 workers, 12 men and 13
women, qualified to work at a high level and, above all, very good people. Our company has very low profit, because we spend
most of the money on the facilities, the employees and a percentage goes to a charity that helps disadvantaged children to enter a school to learn and, if they want, as adults, they can
join our company. Because our priority is happiness.
MY PRODUCT:
SOY
Hello I’m Gema and I’m from Oklahoma. I’m the owner of Lajíta, this name
came from my Spanish husband. It’s a brand of soy production.
I started with my factory some years ago, in 2002, there were ten workers and three of us were from Brazil. It was there when thinking of their poor country that I decided to help them with my factory. I built it in Brazil and I sold the one I had in Oklahoma.
We built it in the north-east of Brazil, in a very little town called São Louis. There, the eight year old children worked instead of being at school. It was there that I looked for information and I started with Fair Trade, because I learnt that it helps producers in developing countries and promotes sustainability, so I wanted to help them.
Their soil is very good place to cultivate soy, because it’s always warm and it’s got a very good PH.
We cultivate the soy and then, we sell it to other soy product factories o directly to the market. The soy we sell to the factories is mainly for animal food factories and a small part is for people(human) food factories. We produce two types of soy: -Dry soy beans: it’s when the soy is ripe and dry. -Green soy beans: it’s before its ripening. (This is the one you can find in supermarkets)
Now, my husband and I are preparing another soy product to sell, soy flour. It’s very easy to prepare and we could provide more jobs to people.
Our product is always cultivated in Brazil, where we have five hectares. We cultivate it during the whole year round because it’s always warm.
In the plantation, we have twenty workers who cultivate and take care of the soy. Before planting it, they prepare the land where the soya is going to grow. Then, they plant the ecologic soy beans and after ninety-five days they pick it. But this is only for dry soy, because when it’s the green one, it’s harvested eighty days after their planting. All the seeds we use are non- GM ones.
Then the farmers go to the factory with the soy to pass the quality test. It’s usually two days long and during this time we’ve got ten people who are taking care of the soy. After these two days, they send it to six factories where we sell it or we pack and send the soy to big supermarkets in the USA, like Utoni. You can find our product in the section of refreshments or with other beans and always in the Fair Trade area.
We don’t earn much money but we can pay all the workers a fair salary and
we can keep the factory and the land fine.
The help we offer in Brazil with Fair Trade is schooling. Ourselves and five other fair trade factories support the five schools we’ve got in the north of Brazil. Now, we have five hundred children between five and sixteen years old.
Every morning the kids go to the nearest school they have. They have four hours lessons with a teacher and in each school we’ve got five teachers working. All of our schools are mixed because it’s easier for all children to arrive, instead of going to separated schools.
The good thing about this is that we didn’t have to build the schools where the children are studying because they were already built but not in use. With our money we pay their teachers, their notebooks, the school maintenance, etc.
We’re very happy being part of Fair Trade because they’ve made us think that money is not the most important thing, but the people who make the products we normally use. Without them our life would not be the same.
This is our brand:
GEMA PARRA
MY PRODUCT
My product is rice, specifically Brown Rice. This is a type
of rice that hasn’t got husk because we remove it. It has got
more nutritional value than white rice because white rice is
ground but processed more than brown rice. In its process
it loses a lot of elements such as fibre, vitamins, iron,
magnesium, calcium and potassium. Brown rice also
preserves a germ that provides you proteins and fatty acids.
Brown rice is harder than white rice and it needs to be
cooked for more time.
MY EMPIRE
I started in this world because a friend said to me that he
knew a person that became very rich with a potato
company and I had finished my business degree and I
researched this type of business. I found out that few
people had a brown rice company. I didn´t know this
product very well but I discovered that in USA and in Asia
it is very popular because it is very healthy. As I am very
brave, I asked for a bank loan and they accepted. I went to
Uzbekistan, to a city called Baisun. I asked farmers in the
area and they told me that they sold brown rice to an
American factory but they paid them very little.
I proposed them that they sell the product to me and they
accepted immediately because I paid them very well.
I formed a cooperative in the area and a lot of farmers
were included in it. I called it ALARBLA. Then I built a
factory in Caceres where I packaged the rice. Initially I
only had two Spanish buyers. But this type of rice became
very popular as a lot of doctors recommended it. I
increased the number of buyers and I needed more
factories and I opened one in Madrid and another in
Barcelona. I opened two more cooperatives in Uzbekistan,
one in Andijan and the other in Bukhara. Things turned
out very well and we became International. I set up a
factory in Berlin and another in Bordeaux. After that I set
another cooperative in Pakistan, in Lahore. At present I
have factories in seven different countries.
I am an important international business man and my
company ALARBLA S.L is one of the most important ones
in the world.
FAIR TRADE
ALARBLA S.L. is a Fair Trade company because the
workers have got good working conditions. They only work
eight hours a day, they have got machines and they are very
well paid. I pay $1for every kilogram of rice and I sell
every kilogram for $2,5. I divide the earnings in the
following way:
• 35% for the Asian workers.
• 25% for transport.
• 30% for European workers.
• 10% for me.

Soccer balls
The soccer balls are made with leather outside and with foam and
springs inside. The shape is round, of course. There are many
designs like those with the flags of many countries, but the shape of
the balls come in five sizes. There are many springs so that the ball
bounces more. The leather is on the outside because it is stronger
than other materials but also heavier and the foam is for the ball to
be soft.
My company has two factories, one in Terranova and the other one
in Nistjy. In my factories all the employers are adults, and I have
more or less five hundred and twenty five employees, but two
hundreds of those work outside the factories. Our main office is
in Ley Yot and the name of my company is “Rul balls” and this is
the logo:
The symbol is a pentagon with five lines, this represents the five
continents and each one is in a different colour.
My company works for Fair Trade. When I became part of Fair
Trade, we wanted to help the children and the families that don´t
have a house and with the money from our company (twenty-five
per cent of the income) we build houses for poor people and we
help them.

Cocoa Programme
The theobroma cacao is a small evergreen tree native to the deep tropical region of America. Its seeds are used to make cocoa powder and chocolate.
Fair trade is an association in which the workers are paid a deserved price and where child labor and slavery are prohibed.
Fair Trade helps cocoa farmers, traders and chocolate manufacturers participate in long-term, stable relationships that provide dependable incomes for farmers and their families, which in turn allows them to provide reliable, high-quality cocoa supplies for the industry.
The Fair Trade allows producer groups to invest in the future of their farms and communities.
Delicious cocoa
This is my product, delicious cocoa is a kind of sweet. The main ingredients are: cocoa, milk, sugar.
But we have a lot of types:
White chocolate, black chocolate, with hazelnuts, with smarties, jam or shirope.
This product costs 60 cents. You can find them in any shop.
Finally, the company that created Delicious cocoa, is in America, its slogan is “A chocolate, a smile” and it was founded to help poor families that processed cocoa.
Programmes and actions
One of the investments, as I said before, will go to poor families who work in cocoa fair trade.
These are others:
-We donate 20 % of the money that we earn to an association for disabled people.
-Another 20% is dedicated to creating schools in cities in Africa, Asia…
- The remaining money is invested in the premises and given to the creator of the product. In this case I’m the creator, and with this money I am going to establish a Delicious Cocoa chain of shops in America.

VANILLA
JESÚS JAVIER TALAVÁN
 The Product
Vanilla is a kind of orchid. Moreover, it is the only one not grown for ornamental reasons. Normally, it is found in tropical regions that today are confined to four main areas: Madagascar, which is the biggest producer of vanilla in the world and where the highest quality vanilla is found; Indonesia, which is the second biggest producer, together with Madagascar they produce 90% of the crop in the world; Mexico, where the vanilla orchid originated and Tahiti, which has a different genus of the orchid.
It is one of the most expensive agricultural products in the world because it takes a long time and a lot of meticulous care to produce vanilla. Vanilla is obtained from the pods of the orchid plant.
Vanilla, due to its wide range of flavour profiles, can be used in many products (its main use is to flavour ice cream).
We as a company, grow it for the food industry.
 Featured Producer
Our company, Smith Vanillas is a family company situated in Virginia (USA) where we have our factory and some of our stores.
Our raw material (vanilla) is grown in Madagascar, because its weather is ideal for the orchid. We employ 25 native workers who are dedicated to the production of our vanilla. From there, we transport it to our factory where we manufacture our products together with other raw materials.
We make a range of products including cakes, pies, biscuits and our star product: our famous vanilla ice cream. All of this comes to the consumer through our stores.
 Fair Trade Investments
For many years we have been dedicated entirely to fair trade. We have helped a lot the towns adjoining our farm in Madagascar, by dedicating completely 20% of our revenues to that.
The first thing we did many years ago was to create safe drinking water wells to supply the people, thus reducing the spread of disease. Years later, we built a medical clinic to vaccinate the population, attend births and small injuries. Finally, this year we have opened a school for all the children in our area. This last building wouldn’t have been possible if it hadn’t been for the cooperation of the NGO with which we are associated.

BODY CARE
Body care can also be included in the fair trade programme. The products that we use daily should be made from natural products, from lipstick to shower gels.
These products are produced in Third World countries where the employees have very low wages and they work a lot of hours.
Therefore, the goals have been to propose this factory cooperates with other factories of the area, which also work with Fair Trade, to
achieve solutions to these problems.
THE FACTORY
This factory, called Razzâg Factory, is in Bolívar, in South Africa, on the outskirts of town.
THE EMPLOYEES AND THE DIRECTOR
The director is called Abdel Razzâg and he created the factory in 1989 with the help of his family and he took on about 100 employees who live near the factory and those living in poverty.
The conditions in the factory are:
-Eight hour shifts
- One day off per week
-Respectful treatment
- Fair salary, according to hours worked
FEATURED PRODUCER
In the factory, we make a shower gel which is the first gel made from natural ingredients, all of them organically and grown in the factory by the
employees. The shower gel that we make is called Wellgel, which is
composed of:
- Coconut oil
- Salt
- Scent of roses
- Animal fat
With the passing of the years, these shower gels have become the
best organic shower gels in South Africa and we can distribute the
products around the world
Gel manufacturing process:
1 - Extraction of coconut oil. The oil is extracted from the coconut meat under pressure and then separated from water by a process called boiling. 2 - Extraction of scent of roses. The scent is extracted through a distillation process 3 – Then, the coconut oil, the scent of roses, salt and animal fat are mixed using a blender. 4 – Finally, the mixture is left to stand for 24 hours and it is bottled in plastic containers
FAIRTRADE INVESTMENTS
Every month, we earn about € 20,000, which are invested on
different fields. In the end the money is divided as follows:
30% goes for the construction of medical centres where the citizens can go when they need it and be well treated and cared for by certified personnel. Another 30% is invested on establishing schools in which children between 4 and 16 years old can be taught to achieve a better future in the village 20% is reserved for the salaries of employees that work in the factory 10% is saved for the factory savings
And, finally, the remaining 10% is spent on the improvement and repair of the equipment used at work
