    Air Travel

Departure(= when you leave the airport)

When you arrive at the airport, you go to the check-in desk where

you weigh your luggage. The airline representative checks your

ticket and gives you a boarding pass for the plane with your seat

number. Then you go through customs where the official checks

your passport. You then go to the waiting area. About 30 minutes

before taking off (= your plane leaves), you are told to board(=

get on) the plane. Then your plane goes to the runway and you take off.

    Arrival(= when you arrive)

When the plane lands (= arrives on the ground), you have to wait for it to stop. When the

doors open, you get off the plane and walk through the terminal. You then go to baggage

claim for your luggage. You then pass through customs. After this, you can meet your

    Fairy Tales

Read the following summary of a famous fairy tale. Then answer the questions that follow.

    Hansel and Gretel

A wood cutter and his wife can't afford to feed their kids, so the wife suggests

abandoning them in the forest. The kids, Hansel and Gretel, overhear this and made a

plan. Hansel sneaks out and gathers rocks so they can leave a trail and find their way

back home. The dad brings them out into the forest and leaves them there. The kids

follow the rocks to make their way back home. Unfortunately, they run out of food again,

so the parents abandon their kids in the forest.

Hansel wasn't able to get rocks this time, so he leaves breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs

are then eaten by the forest creatures and there is no longer a trail left behind. They find

a witch's house made of cake and candy. The kids start to eat the house. The witch sweet-

talks them into staying, and she locks up Hansel to fatten him up and scares Gretel into

    doing chores.

This goes on for a while until the witch decides to eat them both. She tries to get

Gretel to check on the oven's heat from the inside, but Gretel fakes not knowing how to

and tricks the witch into leaning in instead. The witch is burned up in the oven and the

kids go home with a bunch of her treasure. A duck helps them cross a river.

So the kids go home, live happily and richly ever after.
