Forward-thinking leaders in the global real estate, construction and infrastructure sectors are turning to executive education as a powerful tool to stay ahead.

Up until now, the majority of executive education programs across the world have been designed to improve general leadership skills and focus on business topics such as finance, marketing and business development.

In response to growing global industry demand, RICS offers a variety of leadership programs for senior professionals as well as mid-career professionals, to enable them to develop leadership skills along with necessary technical proficiencies across specialisms in the real estate, property and construction industries.

In this perform or perish economy hold on to the pillar of knowledge & chartered status

“Our futures study reveals the built environment needs adaptable, multi-skilled and influential leaders for the future. RICS Executive Education helps to deliver just that.”

Sean TompkinsChief Executive Officer, RICS

The Emerging Leaders Program [ELP] is a one-year executive program designed for mid-career professionals aspiring for leadership roles. The program enhances their competence whilst simultaneously preparing them for gaining MRICS - the globally recognized chartered qualification for built environment.

The real estate, construction and infrastructure sectors in India are indeed huge – managing US$ 15 trillion amount of wealth in India, and growing at a rapid pace. However, majority of the professionals have not had formal education in areas of their work and have really learnt on the job. Also, unlike other global markets, there are no RICS accredited degrees available in India (except RICS School of Built Environment, established in 2013).

Given this situation that is unique to India, RICS has introduced the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) – aimed at all mid-career professionals, who may or may not have had relevant

education at a master’s level. ELP gives such professionals a unique opportunity to undertake a year-long executive program (equivalent of an executive MBA) that allows them to update their technical competencies and build on all core management and leadership skills required to progress towards attaining a chartered qualification in that area of specialization.

The credentials MRICS signify a chartered qualification underpinning work of the highest standards in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. It is valued by clients and governments as a global benchmark for integrity and professionalism necessary for market confidence.

Over 125,000 chartered professionals worldwide deliver confidence to markets by doing their job right first time – with professional standards as the backbone. The qualification crosses

borders and underpins standards worldwide, providing a global career passport.

MRICS is awarded after successful completion of the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) 1 – which depends on education and professional work experience.

ELP has been designed using the APC1 framework and is offered in five specializations, all of which are aligned to MRICS pathways.

MRICS 5 letters that inspire confidence

1 Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) – is the process followed by RICS to ensure that those applying for RICS qualification are competent to practice and meet the high standards of professionalism required by RICS. There is a wide range of pathways available to qualify as an RICS professional covering many different areas of practice. The APC normally consists of (a) a period of structured training and (b) a final assessment. The period of experience is based on candidates achieving a set of requirements or competencies. These are a mix of technical, professional, business and management skills. The competencies are in three distinct categories: ( (1) Mandatory competencies – the personal, interpersonal, professional practice and business competencies common to all pathways and compulsory for all candidates. (2) Core competencies – the primary competencies of your chosen APC pathway. (3) Optional competencies – a set of competencies selected by the candidate from a list defined for the particular pathway. In most cases there is an element of choice. These are mostly technical competencies, but certain mandatory competencies also appear on the optional competency list and candidates are permitted to select one of these at a higher level.

“RICS is a 150 year old massive global body. Given its presence in 146 countries, its footprint across the world is unmatched. That helps disseminate best international practices, ideas and innovation in Indian industry.”
